- Jose Gonzalez recently took time out of his busy summer tour schedule to swing by the Rockstar offices in New York and perform this intimate, acoustic rendition of "Far Away", his contribution to the Red Dead Redemption Soundtrack. Most of you will remember this song from when John Marston first reaches Mexico, riding horseback along a dusty trail between cascading red cliffs and the San Luis River; definitely one of Red Dead's most visually and sonically memorable moments.
Can't believe he wasn't involved with RDR2.
It was. I think they play it in the camp
@@SanchezprodI don't think you understood quite.
Criminal
I get what you mean but I think his style fit way more with RDR 1 than it would have in RDR 2. If that makes any sense. Either way the dude is crazy talented and he gave us one of the best moments in gaming.
if you played this part of RDR and didn't get the feels... then you have no soul
a song i would play in a zombie apocalypse
When i first played through the game i went and jumped in the river after the song had ended to kill myself and put me back to the point just after the boat landed, just so i could go back and feel the feels again as i rode my way down the riverside along the bottom of that cliff face while the sun was rising.
I did that atleast 3 times.
Pssshh, yall weird af
@@KoiNoYokan37 and you have no soul. Pssssshhh
I try to show that moment to peope that didnt play the game and they dont understand the impact it made in the moment. I get goosebumps, and it was the exaxt moment i knew redemption was truely amazing and a masterpeice. Uncharted 2 and the last of us did that to me as well.
Crossing over to Mexico... I thought it couldn't get better until this song took over!
I loved it untill I jumped of my horse beacuse I saw the dude with the wings. The music never came back.
Gave me goosebumps when I heard it in Red Dead Redemption and still now again
Such a strange thing i remember it very crisp. Sitting in my parents living room in front of the big screen in the middle of the night, so they won't realise. Everything dark and calm around me and that song comes up as you ride into mexico. Such a strong memory. Still my favorite song to play on the guitar...
The most perfectly placed piece of original music in a game I've ever come across. This song adds such emotional depth to a truly incredible gaming experience.
Remember when you first crossed and this played... Goosebumps afterwards. Such an amazing masterpiece.
My favourite gaming moment to date.
Same
Primo X i miss bonnie much
last of us had some equally good moments. No game will beat RDR or Last of us
Primo X h
Me too.
The Far Away and Stand unshaken rides are both cinematic masterpieces.
When this song came on I had just gotten to Mexico and the second it started playing, rain started to fall. I damn near cried from the beauty of it, best ingame moment yet!
Wow that gives me tears just thinking about it. I actually just experienced it last night. I'm pretty late on this game. lol. But I got an amazing sunset and it was so moving. Captured a little video but I'm going to make a proper one.
Still is one of the best moments in video games I’ve ever experienced
Such a magical moment ! Goosebumps still love that game
i think the reason this song played was because john marston was getting sick of chasing bill and was really missing his family at this point in the game.....
10 years later, this is what I’m going with from now on.
@@PimpMan6 even more so when you see how the ranch comes together in RDR 2.
a man with powerful soul
this song was such an important part in the chemestry in the game.. just to sit on the horse and look at the scenery while the song played made it more than a game..
One of the absolute most beautiful moments in gaming history, it’s beautiful, it has a story, it tells a story and at the same time it made you feel something #RedDeadRedemption
ThatGuyKarter l7ll good luck
Can't beleive it's already been almost 12 years now
I remember this so vividly. Such a great moment in gaming history. Beautiful song!
Oh boy di I remember that part of the game, a harsh but beautiful plain, a looming cliff-top with a golden sunset over a serene river, taking in everything I could as the song played...it was truly beautiful.
Going to Mexico!
This song in that moment changed video games forever. Raised the bar that has rarely been reached by others. May be the most impactful moment in video games that left a lifelong mark on everyone who rode their horse after the ferry ride.
i love red dead redemption 1
It's quite a bit mesmerizing to think we're 1 week away the release of RDR 2
both the game and song are amazingly written.
Happy 10th anniversary RDR!
The greatest piece of music I have ever heard in video games. Fucking masterpiece.
It’s been 8 years and I’ve never once seen this in my feed before now, so glad I didn’t miss this
14 years ago and im here again
this song was amazing in red dead redemptiom when u get into mexico and this amazing music starts :) great song
one of the best moments in gaming history #RDR
True
i was about to leak into mexico , riding my horse. suddenly it started to rain down on me. i have cut my speed down and realized that we don’t have to rush for anything. i still remember that manmade rain. it was pouring down on me. #ps3memories
The first time I played the game, this song played when I arrived Mexico. When I replayed it, the song didn't come on. I was quite disappointed because that was one of my favorite parts of the game.
It stops if you get off your horse at any given point from when you initially mount up (when the cutscene ends).
2021 and still a vibe
One of my favorite songs in the soundtrack!

I love that it’s called ‘Far away’ but in Australia of course it’s ‘Far and Away’ like ‘Home and Away’
You need to do more like this!

Please all rise for the national anthem of Mexico
dame good singer
Good performance!
Mexico feels more distant in Red dead redemption then anything else,i america i feel "ok" while in mexico i felt lost and robbed...too many banditos...i hope mexico gets his own new gen version.
I want Gabriel Sloyer (Javier Escuella) to cover this
Was this song made for the game?
D3ug It was written specifically for the game yeah! check out his band JUNIP if you haven't yet.
@JohnnyVictorGomes Same! Sitting there think WTF? Then to vocals started.. Aaaah, epic!
is it me or does everybody f*cking loves the blue wall
and tight letters on the blue wall at 0:10 while watching it in 720p
I still hate that I accidentally picked a flower (for some fucking reason) and the music cut out.
Legit I’m pretty sure on the day I just looked up “Red Dead Redemption Mexico song” and played that until I got to the location.
NICE!
quando será que a Rockstar pagou por essa pérola?

Не знал, что Артур Чапарян так здорово поет

2O23
@DekenjaEntertainment are nice.
So being the loser I am I’ve completed this game like 20 times, but I cried (because you know if you get off the horse the music stops) but anyways I cried because a wolf killed the horse, now I’m like “why did I cry over this?”
@Oli090683 sounds kinda sad since its a video game:L
@lazer59882 haha. I love how I can say one thing and people will flip out and start commenting on one thing that is opinionated.
Wo
Arthur Morgan

i love rdr1s ost so much, i hope ashman group does something like this with deadmans gun
At parts, his voice sounds exactly like the CD version at moments.
Mans a legend
back when they were using that old school GTA IV font still lol. WOw.
Where is this Rockstar I once knew?
This is my favourite gaming moment and will stay with me forever
Going into Mexico amazing moment.
1:23 that perfectly describes Micah
As this song started I rode my horse to the top of the bluff above the river into a huge red sunset.
Had to rein him in and just sit and listen as I took in the scenery. Felt like a real magic moment in real life... So good!
Back when things meant something
This is still one of my favorite songs
This man better be in RDR 2
Dab Cat LOL DEADASS WHY IM ON THIS VID N I THINK THEY FAILED US
sudha bhatt no you cannot. Go step infront of a runaway train
"Aching chest & blurry sight"
Been there.
Alguém em pleno 2021 lembrando desse clássico?
i wonder if rockstar will remaster red dead redemption
Finally i've been looking for a live performance of this song. So i can learn it
The only time i didnt fast travel to waypoint
I get so much nostalgia I don’t like it😭
Jose Gonzalez in 2010 "Step in front of a runaway train just to feel alive again"
Arthur Morgan in 2018 during Pouring Forth Oil Part 4
