Donkey Kong Country 3 Any% in

This is a single segment (RTA) speedrun of the North American version of Donkey Kong Country 3, done in 48 minutes, 26 seconds. This run was achieved on May 2nd, 2016. This is an improvement on my previous run on the Japanese version, located here: • スーパードンキーコング3 RTA in 49...
This run features drastically better movement in nearly all stages, resulting in a much crisper run. It also features the legendary KAOS 1-Cycle, which was the biggest improvement over my previous run (and the reason that the switch to North American was made).
This run is extremely clean up until World 7 (even featuring a first try 2-1 jump in Ropey Rumpus!). However, Creepy Caverns & Lightning Lookout contain significant mistakes, preventing this run from being a 48:1X (which was my ultimate goal).
That being said, this is my final running on the North American version, as a new skip was found that allows you to completely avoid fighting Bleak, which is exclusive to the Japanese version. By implementing this skip, a 47:XX is now possible, and is my new goal.
Special shoutouts to fellow DKC3 runner djeez (for whom the file is named after), for really helping me optimize & push this game as low as it is now.

I remember beating this over the course of a month or so with friends. It had a 2-player mode and was the best game out at the time. We replayed it many times after beating it. Tons of fun

I always thought the bosses were so creative in this game. But, they never really felt like Donkey Kong bosses to me.

Agreed, I've read it wasn't made by the same devs as 1 and 2, since they were busy with DK64, they probably were like "we are not gonna top DKC1 and DKC2's pure platforming design, so let's go in a new direction", and I think that was the right decision, I wouldn't have wanted a reskin of DKC2, that would have been the easy choice. 3 wasn't perfect, but even with it's flaws it's better than a simple copy of something that was already done (DKC1) and perfected (DKC2).

They were made by devs to skip parts of levels while testing. They probably forgot to remove the ones in world 1 and 2.

Any% (which is right in the title) means no bonus content, simply beating the final boss/ stage. This is opposed to a 100% run. There are plenty out there and worth checking out if you want to see the game fully completed.
