Hi Melissa thank you for this very useful and interesting video. I guess that you don't need telling, but your in-depth look at these two welders knocks spots off anything else out there, Well done!! I haven't seen anyone take a serious look at machine capability like this, (and put it under the microscope, that's what I'd do!), and your direct comparison must give both companies food for thought. As a retired electronic/mechanical design and manufacturing engineer, I can visualise such equipment being so very useful in may industrial environments. I only want one for my hobby jewellery work but I am also very interested in making a rolling ball sculpture, in that case, I would want to be able to tack weld 2mm diameter brass or stainless steel wire, end-to-end prior to hard soldering. Some of my jewellery pendant work has 20 or 30 joints all very close together and I've lost count of how many times I've I have accidently over cooked a piece just to have it all fall apart. The idea of been able to 'glue' it all together with tack welds prior to hard soldering is very appealing. Thanks again, from your latest subscriber. Kind regards and Happy New Year . . . Brilliant and very complete review. Thank you so much for sharing this. I am just starting to look into the possibilities and find this hugely helpful.
That was really fascinating. I seem to learn about new things all the time when I watch your videos. Thanks so much for sharing. I’ve never known any of this before!
Excellent video! There are a lot of mostly young ladies looking at this Permanent Jewelry business as I'll make a ton of money. My daughter is one of them. It's going to be a 2-3 year gig. When people realize they must remove their jewelry for X-rays, MRIs, etc.
Thank you. It can be great. And the jewelry is easily removed for medical procedures, and then they can easily be put back on if desired. I offer free re-welds for my customers that need them removed for medical reasons.
Thank you for your very informative video. I am only using the welder to close jump rings (not permanent jewelry). Is there another, perhaps less expensive, welder you would recommend for that purpose only?
@@jyotimachen9966 the Zapp Plus is the best one that I have used that is the best priced. I have not had good luck with lower priced and unbranded machines.
Hi Mellisa - I make permanent jewellery and I have an Orion m pulse but lately my electrode is sticking to my jumping and chain - do you know why this is happening
Hi Melissa! By your opinion, shall I start out with Zapp plus or with Orion MPulse? My budget is abit limited, so I am leaning towards Zapp Plus, but if Orion will make massive difference, than I would go for it
@@MelissaMuir thank you so much. I am planning to be self taught, and money difference between Zapp Plus and Orion to invest in chains and supplies. Thank you once again!
I have a question. My daughter is just beginning this work and I'd like to know if when using the welder, your skin touches the earthed crocodile clip, would you be electrically shocked?

I don't find any rigidity with the Helix hose and have been using it since it came out
I just based my observation off of the machine I had. I am glad to hear you haven’t had that

Nice video. Do you think that the Zapp and Helix would have more similar and consistent welds if both were using argon gas?
They were both using argon gas in my review.
Hi Melissa-
Would you be open to reviewing the Everarc by Everlinx?
I do not have that machine. If I can get ahold of one I would love to review it

@@IlanaPerel-u4n is the electrode retracting? If it isn’t, I would contact Sunstone and have them do some maintenance on the machine.

They are both made by Sunstone Engineering. And honestly, I think you could save the money and do the Zapp+ and do just fine.

What is permanent jewelry!?
Brackets and anklets which don’t have clasps and after being placed around your neck, ankle, or neck and cannot be taken off unless you cut it off.
It is chain that is sized to a person and welded closed without a clasp.
Hello, molim gdje mogu kupiti srebreni lanac za permanent nakit?
There are a lot of places, I like to get mine through Halsteadbead.com and Stuller.com
I'm just curious, are you compensated in any way by Sunstone for this review?
@@BrendaKeegan-g6u nope. And returned the machines too.
@@MelissaMuir Thanks for responding. I had literally just bought a helix and was having buyer's remorse when I watched this 😞I love your videos btw.
