Thankfully read the comments here before they got deleted LMAO, defo stayin away from this product haha
@@j3fr0uk These last two videos just seemed like they were infomercials and less like a lore video.

No way two hawkshaw videos?! In a day?!?
Seriously?!?
We eating good today
Good. I'm not crazy
I hope our boy starts spacing them out to give himself time and a boost in the algorithm. I appreciate the double vid, but he deserves better than this, the algorithm isn't gonna be kind.
Every day is worth the wait 🎉
Did you know that the three spells with 130 poise damage are Great Gravelord Sword Dance, Chaos storm and Sunlight Spear.. The Three Lords of the Dragon War.
Do you think this means Manus, who has the incredibly high poise spell, “Pursuers” is in fact the furtive pygmy?
OH MY GOD
THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE WTH LMAO
Nice catch nice catch. I feel like the lyrics of Manus's fight, or something, also implied this heavily?
He might be. There's also the matter of his burial ground. Clearly he was important enough for the ancient humans to make such an ornamented grave. Also, an interesting point, is that specifically his humanity cuased the birth of the Abyss, an all-consuming force that exists for thousands of years after Manus' death. Must have had a huge part of the Dark Soul inside of him, as evident by his soul almost looking like a humanity sprite
@@jackreacher7495 uh...... There are quite clearly 0 lyrics there
God the Boar is such an amazing piece of non linear game design, it restricts your most reliable tool for solving problems and makes you examine ALL of your tools
You can try the stealth approach and get a backstab
You can use elemental magic to blast through its armor
You can get high ground and experiment with the alluring skulls, drawing it in for a risky plunge attack, OR EVEN BETTER chuck one at the burning pyre and let it roast itself!
And now I'm learning you can even take it head on and PARRY it???....
WHY ARENT MORE ENCOUNTERS LIKE THIS???
You can parry just about anything
You can also drop the metal grate insta killing him.
Meh, I just use a bow and arrows instead. Bows are such overlooked weapons in DS, I rarely see people using them in video clips, but so many things can be cheesed with a bow, hundreds of arrows and some patience to not only find the right spot, but to put 200+ arrows into something that will just stand there and watch.
@@Dhalin viable, just very boring. Exactly how you get the drake sword
@@DhalinI think most people would rather play in a fun way.
Minutes ago I was just talking to a friend about how awesome the experience was playing dark souls on day one back in the day. Such a fun time being a part of the community trying to discover all the little tricks and secrets🙏
I miss them days of gaming so much. DS1 was the best.
@@goldenfaceman absolutely
Please continue making DS1 content. It’s what got me hooked on your channel in the first place.
Agreed
Same! Somehow DS1 is the most interesting out of all of the Fromsoft games, both it's lore and how it's working.
Worth noting that not every 2h weapon block will avoid Nito's gravelord sword dance. I don't remember the specific types, but it has to do with how wide your character opens their legs in the block position. Spears are a good guarantee, though.
You had me at making the Forest Hunters falling off the cliff.
Nostalgia at its best.
ive put like 600 hours into this game and never knew you could parry that boar!!
It makes sense. I knew you could parry dragonslayer arrows.
..you can parry great arrows?
@@downsjmmyjones101 WHAT
You can parry everything. That is the point.
@@themightycrixus1131its just really unclear what you cant parry.
Not only you gave me a nostalgic feeling with the beginning, also gave me another one with that Age of Mythology OST.
That SOrCeReR NoT PlAyInG BaLL!!!! "" i spent many hours in that corner. Late into the night with such an intense desire and joy. Thank you Dark Souls.
Things this video taught me after my dozens of DS1 playthroughs:
1. Nito's annoying attack can be avoided by standing still and blocking with a weapon 2-handed.
2. Ornstein attack loop via items like dragon head stone.
3. Dung pie isn't so useless.
4. Poop walk.
5. Cursed frogs are just that weak. I've never been afraid of them as they've always been child's play for me, but still, kinda shocking to know they're so weak.
6. You can kill capra demon without entering the boss arena.
I've yet to try any of these, but it's such great info. Always love trying out neat stuff like this in soulsborne games.
You can combine two of those by poisoning Capra demon with dung pies and just waiting for him to die.
Also the two-handed Nito evasion works because that attack's hitbox is actually only high enough to hit the legs, and if you block two-handed the legs spread just barely enough to avoid it.
I figured out that Nito only uses the gravelord sword dance attack when you're too far away for his other attacks to hit you, so I fought him up close for as much of the fight as possible. He also has some threatening close range attacks but he telegraphs them more heavily so I found them easier to deal with.
You’ve heard of Smoe, you’ve heard of Smaug, now get ready for Ornstein and Smoff
And if you pronounce it like “through” then you get “smoo” 🤭
His name is actually a pun on Sumo (スモウ) so it's Smoe (or Smaw but that sounds weird)
Hey i actually learned 4 new things
The boar parry
The nito block
The Amulett hitbox
And that I'm still nostalgic for AoM
I’m sure you already know, but Illusory Wall is the Hawkshaw equivalent for gameplay-related deep-dives. Glad to see you branching into some of this!
I am starting to ask for Dark Souls 2 lore and anything else videos, yes its rough around the edges but the story and specially the voice acting is really good imo.
Also im so happy that even as a newer (few years) Souls fan the community is still fiding new things specially on the lore side but also in stuff like this.
This channel has become my favorite channel now, ive been seeing your videos on repeat and being happy about seeing a new notification when in college knowing i will be able to see it once I get home!
I feel you man, I love the trilogy in general. 👍
7:35 Same premise as Sekiro's contact medicine. Neat to see it's been around longer than that.
7:37 I appreciate the Age of Mythology music more than I should.
I don’t think there is any other channel I get more excited for an upload than yours
We are graced with not 1 but 2 hawkshaw videos
Playing DS1 for the first time right now, just got to tomb of giants.... :D
There are moments in this game that just leave me just utterly stunned, there is no game with map design quite like this.
Every shortcut that leads back to Firelink, meeting Havel for the first time, drowning while trying to fight the Hydra...
The butterfly fight, the approach to Anor Londo which I haven't managed to cross yet, and so many more...
Having played every From soft that released on PC prior to DS1, I finally get the hype, and why it's won best game of all time
going tomb of giants without having been to anor londo is fucked 😂😂 haha have fun getting back to firelink without lord vessel
Oh, I remember playing through the game for the first time (remaster) and resting at the blacksmith’s without teleport cup. I needed a guide and several attempts to get back into Firelink
@@Kagezava that’s just the catacombs, try getting all the way from nito boss fight to firelink, it is the hardest boss fight known to man and i can proudly say i have done it once
i love you hawkshaw. i am happy you are getting sponsors. you deserve good money for the content you make. you are the reason i love boggart so much. i hope you continue to do well.
Most of these videos were already made by VaatiVidya
I just started binging this channel after discovering it for the first time and I get 2 new videos to watch before I even finished binging the rest. This channel is great
Dude, kudos! Now I have to start a new game and try the boar parry, the item glitch with ornstein and so on! Great discoveries!
Lmao at that sorcerer. I also always hated the way that the cleric backs away from you and refuses to fight after taking a single point of damage.
Gosh dang that Age of Mythology soundtrack got me feeling all the nostalgia!
I was literally just watching the Fap Flip and Fat ring video before this.
Same thing lol
Came here 4 mins after this vid's release, lucky me!
Really enjoyed this different type of video. You’ve quickly become my favorite FS TH-camr
Two Hawkshaw videos in one day? im in heaven
the first bit made me nostalgic for a game I'm too young to have experienced in it's prime. wonderful.
THANK YOU for saying smough’s name correctly. Everyone else says smo, but dang it, it’s pronounced smoff
I don't think his name is ever said out loud so there's no way to confirm what's correct.
Smuff, smoff, smoh, smog or smogue?
It is not, but Hawkeye gough’s name is spoken aloud once in the dlc and it’s pronounced like cough or trough. Given that gough and smough have such similar names, and are both characters from the same time and place, it’s not a big leap to assume that their names are pronounced similarly.
@@wanamingo7510 I forgot about Gough! Yeah you're probably right
I'm sorry, Iron Golem rolling off the bridge is a "secret" now?
Wait... You tought egg vermifuge was an egg? It's clearly an acorn.
It's always fun when you hear someone pronounce Smough so completely unexpectedly. The vast majority of people say "Smo", some others say "Sm-owg" (like the Hobbit dragon). Never heard someone say "Smoff" before.
I learned about the boar parry literally 2 days ago. I'm in awe
DS1 with Silver Pendant in Sen's, DS2 with Eye of Priestess in Shady Woods; DLC items being useful in a (relatively) early game areas. I wonder if there's anything like them in DS3.
The boar parry was a huge surprise for me, very few things i dont know about dark souls and that was definitely one of them!
One thing a lot of ppl dont know: the channaler in undead parish can boost gargules. I noticed blue particles, the same when channaler boosts hollows and gaping dragon
5:46 The PEGP (Perfect Estus Gwyn Parry) is a technique created by TH-camr Challenger Andy during his all Gwyn challenge run. Unfortunately, he can break out of the loop if he tries a grab, but it’s quite rare.
Hi, just logged in real quick to tell you how awesome your videos are. I love that you still do content about DS1 despite that game being 12 years old by now - and I still learn new things each video despite being a long term fan myself! I especially love the insanely detailed older videos like Domnhall - they go to show very nicely how detailed Miyazaki and team imagined their world and how much internal consistency they strove for. It is truly amazing and every work of fiction should strive for this mass of untold but consistent lore :)
If this game came out in 2023, people on reddit would be complaining about these secrets as "bad design" or "gamebreaking bugs".
Crazy how hawkshaw is doing a variant of the perfect estus gwyn parry method
5:13 I remember watching a video where a guy went all the way around to force the dragon to spawn on invaders.
2 videos in a day is WILD. wow Hawkshaw W
The timing for Nito's Gravelord sword attack is when he holds his hand up high, then raises it a little bit higher before slamming it into the ground. Once he raises it that little bit higher it your moment to roll
The wireless gaping dragon attack is definitely still there in the remaster, experienced it a week ago
Also seems like baiting enemies punishers carried over all the way to Elden Ring
Had to do a double at after hearing the Kameo music in the background. Love to hear it!
Was this intended to be posted so soon after your latest vid?
I literally never knew you could parry the boar but that's definitely a staple of my occasional knife only thief runs from now on
I always unlock the shortcuts around fire link shrine before unlocking the hellkite drake as a soul farm spot
Just roll glitch
U need a boss soul to roll glitch
@@noctsickversus9632 never heard of roll glitching
@@lightningrose3654 look it up glitch infinite souls from 1 boss soul
This fucking thumbnail art is godlike pietro is too good
I think we can all agree the coolest way to parry is with the Parrying Dagger. It looks way cooler than doing it with a shield.
I can’t believe I’ve been in this community for like almost 10 years and still I learn new things about this game. Truly amazing
I didn't know a lot of these cool video. With the giant boar in the beginning I always take the luring skulls and throw them in the fire
liked and subbed for the 2h block at Nito tip. absolutely fucking incredible
I was never quite sure, but I remember thinking that maybe the Stone Dragon's nest is actually inside the trunk of the tree that reaches up and out over Firelink Shrine. It's a rather suspiciously large tree, and if you look out over Blighttown toward the Great Hollow, it seems like it may be the same distance as the bases are apart in Ash Lake. All my gameplay/item discoveries were in the later games, though.
In Elden Ring, I did find a bug where if you roll during a crouch and swap one of your weapons before the roll ends, you'll enter a "half-crouch" as long as you keep moving. Basically, your legs will be in standing animation, but your torso will still be hunched. This allows you you to sprint while technically crouching, looking a bit like you're Naruto running. It's a good way to psych people out with a colossal sword crouchpoke during a jog, lol.
The boar parry was amazing, yes. But the Nito block???? I have to try that now.
Today has been a great day! My friends can wait, hawkshaw posted twice!
Despite THOUSANDS of hours in this game and respectable (for 2017) speedrun times, I didn't know you could defeat nito's sword like that. Marvellous.
I’ve probably beaten the game 30+ times and I didn’t know about the running block roll. Thanks.
hitting me with that age of mythology nostalgia
0:25 I actually just started fighting these guys, regularly, because the cheese was often unreliable. Once you are string enough, it's more fun to just run into the Forest, and try and off them all before they have a chance to react. Must have done this farm over a thousand times, over the years. Thanks for the walk down memory-lane.
Is that around 8:30 Age of Mythology soundtrack? What a nostalgia here 😢
You can plunging attack the boars too
What a fun video! Played through DS1 many times, and didn't know a few things on this list.
oh that sweet sweet Stardew Valley track. Love that we're still learning things about this game years later!
A SECOND VIDEO? You're spoiling us. Love the content
Knowing that Basilisks can be poise-broken by rolls is going to come in very handy.
For the Mega Ornstein having Smough’s laugh I think it maybe because the laugh is tied to the animation…
That thumbnail art is amazing
That last shield jump tip... it doesn't occur if you try to roll instantly after putting the shield up while running. This made me die against Gwyndolyn, more than once.
The fall for the ring trick I learned from a friend. I introduced him to the series and was teaching him how to play and he just stumbled upon that solution. I was dumbfounded to say the least.
10:12 ahh if you had told me this before dozens of hours suffering in the hands of the titanite demons...
Funny thing is, first time I played DS, I always dropped down from the ledge to get to Dohmnall because I was too afraid to jump the gap.
you can actually parry gwyn at the peak of his jump. If you press riposte just after parry he'll warp to the ground being stabbed.
wow every time I watch these videos I know everything, but I actually didn't know about the dung pie toxic
I don’t know if it’s considered a cheese or not but usually you’d want to deal with everyone before the bull itself on the top floor then on the way back down the bull charges right into a fire pit trying to get to you, instantly killing him depending on how he sits in it
You get alluring skulls up top by the two bowmen. The intended strat is to throw a skull in the fire and the boar will just walk right in.
You can also bait qwyn attack/parry loop by walking behind him when he falls
I remember parrying the boar after i learned ds1 parry timings and standing there in shock when it just like brushed him to the side like a stray hair
That opera gx ad came out of nowhere exactly like that invisible backstab guy
PEGPA was mentioned! Let's Go!
I fought those forest guardians so much lol didn’t have a clue about that trick.
That goddamn sorcerer always mucked everything up.
We can PARRY the boars? We're truly never done learning in a Souls game, and I love it ❤
if you miss the estus in the asylum you need to return to obtain it because the lost and found chest only returns items you've obtained first before losing
"Armored Boar" i see what you did there
I noticed the method you used to get to Donnell in his dedicated video and have been using it since lol
2:40 Do you still fall sometimes
Me: yes.
Hawk: until we figured out this 2:47
Me:......fuck me eh that one stung
I love how the sekiro team took the boar parry mechanic from darksouls and put it into the bull fight...if you parry the bull it will crumble and stumble the same way ..
I never knew about how effective dung pies could be! I didn't even bother to use them. I guess anything could be useful if you know how to use it.
If you shoot the drake near the stairan run as fast as you can near the left side of the bridge(where the door to lower parish is) eventually the drake will use it's flying breath attack and to oblivion(works on remastered)
Which armore is he wearing during the video?
I cannot seem to find it in the Wiki.
The AOM music is perfect thank you
I learned a lot of new things in this video, this was an awesome watch!
In Dark Souls remastered you can rebind the Jump button, so no need to block to roll while sprinting.
2:47 that's how i got to the trickster off the bat
10:06 you can just bind jump to a seprate button from your roll. Mines set to L3 and when I press the roll/sprint button while sprinting I always roll.
That goddamn sorcerer not playing ball has wasted more of my time than I'd care to admit.
I knew everything except
- fire breath/stones against ornstein
- double hand weapon block Nito
- pendant triggers traps
Not bad. I need to go outside more.
