"Mesmerisingly violent" is the only way this storm could be described. I have a very intense phobia of the wind but even I couldn't stop myself from watching and listening to the fury it unleashed outside, and here i am again reliving the experience through others' eyes. Incredible footage.
I knew one of the keepers who served on the needles during the 1987 storm ,he said the waves were breaking over the top of the lighthouse and the whole place shuddered with every impact the next morning after they had repaired the radio mast trinity house tentatively called “hello is anyone there”I think half expecting them to have been swept away during the night.

Thanks I’m glad I captured it as it was. I was hiding behind a concrete slab trying to hold the camera up.
Brilliant.
Is this what The Needles look so much smaller now in 2023?
Imagine being a keeper in the lighthouse during a storm like this back in the day . It must of been terrifying sometimes

Sounds good to me
Wow, very strong and brutal!
It was something extraordinary and a thrill to experience!
Imagine being on the chairlift 😂😂
Yes it would have been some ride! But obviously not working that day 😂
Wow
Did any ferries run this day? (joke)
Needles shots .. truly terrifying .
