Break determines which single scoring pocket one is playing for. Balls into any other hole don't count, and any ball going into other pockets get spotted.
One can name the pocket, one of two at the end of the table and, uncharacteristically, break on the same side as one breaks to, which Corey Deuel is infamous for doing a few times . . .
