It so darn cute! They need some track work with dips and bumps and jerks of the track at points where the engine looked like it was going to do a Dukes of Hazzard jump.
Hi Gary, they are making progress on the track, new sleepers, ballast, levelling etc. but there is, I think a mile in circuit to do. It’s great loco though, took the bumps no trouble. All the best, Matt
Mate, that was one of the best start-up, run, and steam-down vids. I’ve ever seen. Beautiful little loco, lots of scale detail too. No wonder it took eight years to build. Thanks for such a really good video 👏👏👏 Regards, Robert PS Any idea of the weight of the bare loco?
Hi Robert, thank you, that is much appreciated. It really is a beautiful loco, as to its weight, I’m unsure I’m afraid and I won’t see the owner for a couple of weeks as I’m away. I’ll ask him on return. All the best, Matt
Hi RB, it really is, the video doesn’t really do it justice, it’s even better in real life. The track work is being relaid, a section at a time with the new plastic sleepers, new ballast, levelling ect, but the loop is a mile long so it’s no speedy process. We have had no derailments yet, it doesn’t look that bad when your there. All the best, Matt
OK, I dug up a small identity plate for this model, LEEDS HUNSLET No. 687 1898 it's about 4 inches across and I found it while detecting in a remote field near Cheltenham. It's the same as the one on the firebox under the driver's left hand. It's heavy brass with 2 screw holes in same place, paint a bit patchy but it's red, identical to the one right at the start of the video. How the hell this came to be where I found it, I do not know but what to do with the thing? Daz. I can send you an image.
Hi Daz, very interesting 🤔 and bizzare at the same time!! Yes by all means email me an image… my email is in my profile/about me on the main channel page. All the best, Matt.👍
Hi Geoff, well I need to start driver training at some point, it’s been a few years since I’ve fired a loco, but I think I’ll be in good hands at the club 👍. All the best, Matt
Fantastic !:)

Hi Matt What can one say the engine is a true master piece of engineering. The tack needs some major up grade work to ensure safety is maintained.

What are the verticle cylinders next to the saddle tank please?
Hi Donkey Ha, if you mean the ones painted same colour as the saddle tank, these are the sanding pots. All the best, Matt
Cracking little loco
Most definitely Ian, it’s a masterpiece. All the best, Matt
Great video Matt 👍 think Adrian will let you have a go now!

Cheers Kev, appreciated as always. I’m really pleased how this video turned out. All the best my TH-cam friend, Laters 👋, Matt
As a working model it won't all be to scale.
This is true…. You can’t scale steam, coal, water or fire!! 😉
Lol :)
