You may not have noticed inflation in years past, But 8%+ inflation over the past year should've taught you that the cost of living increases every year (home prices, rent, groceries, plane tickets, home repairs, etc.) Only way to beat inflation is by investing your money

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

When 25% of the country is unable to heat or eat everyday, neglect takes its toll. 100+ years ago when the ruling families of Europe unleashed WWI, many British working class, the expected cannon fodder were found to be too small and malnourished to fight. In '68 I was born into a hungry British family and had a horrendous time making ends meet, getting any kind of training, zero work opportunities until about year 1999 when I actually got hold of a job lasting 16 months that paid a living wage. Then it was back to low paid work until 2008 when I finally managed to use my trade skills to get out of the UK. Working for a wage that was less than what the dole paid (with housing benefit) was normal in the UK. Usually, I had one quid fifty a day for food and anything else. There were no food banks at the time and I was made homeless about four times. And I wasn' t allowed to lift myself out of it, as it was illegal to study at tech when on welfare and they kept threatening me that I'd stayed too long on a course and would forfeit any help if I didn't drop out. That happened numerous times. I was also forced to work for my welfare for many years on schemes. After my sole 'average wage' job I was owed a 1400 pound tax refund, but the ESJ took it and gave me 120. So they took away my relocation money that would have sent me to a new job in another city. My life in the UK was like living with administration that was an enemy captor, uncaring and swindling and essentially, there wasn't a moment I didn't feel like I was being set up for failure by some jobsworth with a booklet of catch 22's and double binds . Only the EU worker protections gave me some rights, and now I see that these have most likely relapsed due to Brexit. I'm sorry to see folks there being helotised by the fiscal elite. They did it to me for 95% of my life there, and despite my patient, gentle nature I was fiscally brutalised and made to despise the whole putrefying class system. Going without food for ten days at a time was fairly normal, as was staying in a single room with no power or heating. Been there, seen it, done it and worse, like sleeping in a tent covered in ice, through no fault of my own. I have nothing but utter disgust for the disadministrators and see the UK as an open gulag for the working class. As one might imagine, I haven't been back in 14 years. So sorry for the folks back home. Heartbreaking.

@William Denton It depends how you see the funding. The state receives an enormous income from the Crown estates and a small portion of that revenue is allocated to support the function of monarchy and having a non political Head of State. The Sovereign grant is used to maintain the family performing their state roles of public service to charity and soft diplomacy, pay for the maintenance of state owned buildings like BP and Windsor Castle. The taxpayer pays an amount for security for the family and the buildings which is less than a pound per person per year. The monarchy also attracts a lot of revenue through tourism for the UK. Overall compared to the costs of other Heads of State it is very inexpensive.

It may seem incredible but a large part of this comes from having financed the instability in Ukraine all these years, from 2014 onwards. This is allowing the few rich families who hold the majority shares in military and energy industries to get even richer, to the detriment of the majority of the population, not only in England but in almost all the world.
