I am surprised he didn't mention the weird cheat system. It involved holding 2 buttons on the second controller and the direction you moved on the first controller determined your cheat. From my memory anyway.
I always feel a double sense of nostalgia watching SNESdrunk, not only for the games I used to play as a kid, but also because the overall presentation of these videos reminds me of watching early ScrewAttack in the mid-2000s
SNES drunk, I'd like to say I appreciate your ability to strike a good balance and have consistently informative yet condensed videos many under five minutes, well-edited, lots of play sequences and such, and balancing your opinion and the objective merits of the games. You do a great job at this stuff, thank you for your work!

I've played this back in the early 90s and this was because a quick note on a brazilian game magazine, in which the title was translated (A Conquista do Palácio de Cristal), don't ask me why. I couldn't agree more with your view of the game, and personally I love the music. Great video!
OH hell yeah, one of the gems I discovered myself as a kid renting every random weird game I could from the local rental place. One of my very favorite NES games, even having played most the library by this point. If you can believe it, I even have a poster of the boxart blown up :P

Whoa, this brings back memories! I remember playing this game a lot when I was a kid, but I haven’t even thought about it in over 25 years. I actually owned it. My parents were cheap as hell, so 80% of my games were less well-known games they’d get from the clearance bin for $10-20. I had some real duds like Spy vs Spy and Caveman Games. But I had a few true hidden gems like this one. Another gem I had was Shingen the Ruler, which turned out to be one of my top 3 NES games of all time (along with FF1 and Castlevania 2). It really was a pvp game. I remember the commercials for caveman games, they made it look really fun. Never played it. Never heard of shingen i need to look that one up now.....

I can't expect how far you will go, reviewing the NES/SNES library but if you do all the complete catalogs, I'm sure your videos will be studied later by video games students. If one day you pass by Paris, France, please let me know. You'll be greeted like a friend and have access to my entire wine cave. Thank you again Mr. Snes drunk.

I rented this game when I was a kid and I could never remember what it was called and never saw anything about it anywhere and it always bugged me. One thing I did always remember about this game was the shop owner, Kim. I remember there being this funny thing in where if you keep selecting items and then canceling without buying she'll eventually get pissed off and kick you out of the shop.
I bought this game from a rental place that was going out of business, and I have loved it ever since. I totally agree that it’s a hidden, underrated gem of a game that more people need to see. As a kid, a lifelong dream of mine was to make a sequel to it, though I’m certain that will never happen. It would be nice to see a spiritual successor, however.

Conquest of The Crystal Palace is one of my favorite NES games. I was able to snag it complete with manual and box for 10 dollar when my local Jumbo Video went out of business. Such an enjoyable playthrough.
I had this game in my collection for years just collecting dust until I decided to play it one day. I was also surprised at how good it was. Thanks for not calling this game the "HG" word otherwise it would sky rocket in price LOL. I like how the background in stage 3 pays an homage to The Scream painting.
HG? Also, if memory serves that Scream homage you’re referring to was actually a US exclusive, as it was changed to that from the Japanese version. I think. It was either that, or an enemy design was changed. Or both. Something was changed in that stage.
