  • Skip ahead to 6:25 for the final results. Warning!! Treat your luxury bags with stain repellent at your own risk! This was meant to be an experiment over the span of a few weeks to a couple months... it went on for over a year thanks to this pandemic. The longer time period actually worked out really well and you can really tell the difference in the treated vs untreated leather! Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this long term experiment! It’s good to know that Apple Garde prevents stains from occurring but not the natural patina from forming over time. Well done!

Thanks for the video. Can you treat the vachetta that has already been used and already has water marks on them just to prevent them from further staining? This summer, I used a brand new neverfull in damier azur that I bought last year and it picked up some water stains. I went over all the vachetta with water wipes just to even everything out but it just made the vachetta darker. I am wondering if it's safe to use Apple guard after using the wipes or it could possibly dry out the vachetta... Thanks!

It is basically a water repellant so it may help prevent future staining. It won't clean anything that has been on the bag prior. In another video I sprayed an old strap repeatedly and it did not do any damage to the strap even though it was a bit dry and brittle to begin with.
