As a consumer If I can't pay by PayPal I simply do not buy. I have been the victim of credit card theft in the past and will never enter card details again. In-store physical card, online PayPal. No exceptions. It may be good to try and save a few Dollars in fees, but how much could potentially be lost in sales.
Yes. That's why in the video, I specifically stated that you need to check your traffic and sales to see how many people use PayPal to determine whether to ditch it. Lots of my colleagues have been doing this experiment and found it didn't affect sales
This. The last time i got scammed the website grabbed my information as it was being typed. I filled out the information but decided to not hit checkout and was going to sit on it. Next thing i know a few mins later i get a confirmation email for my purchase that i did not authorize from the same website. I was pissed off but i did receive the product so forgot about it. next thing i know a few weeks later the card got hit with all these charges and the thing is. i only used that card on that website so i knew it was them. All i could do was get a new card and filed a cybercrime report with the FBI and that was that.
PayPal has been good for me too. Over the years via eBay sales, etc. good and bad, overall, I give PayPal 4 out of 5 stars. now, of course, things can change going forward. I'm not married to any of these financial institutions.
Paypal has been sued many times by small businesses for withholding customer transactions to the business. Eric July talked about this with running his comic book business on YT. Paypal was withholding $1.5mil from him. It was like a 6 month battle. Why partner with them if they can hold you hostage?
The best way to NOT get ripped off on the internet is to avoid PayPal 100%. Get a limited, prepay debit card. Weather that be a dollar store pre paid card or a Walmart card. Take $$ cash $$ from. Your bank account and charge your prepaid debit card. I'm currently suing PayPal. I'm a senior citizen in the state of Colorado. (Criminal businesses are charged double) PayPal stole $8 from my account. They are currently looking at losing $20,000 minimum.
I hate PayPal!!!!!! I went out of the country and couldn't access in any of my money, I couldn't link bank accounts or debit cards, or even transfer money to cards that were already linked to PayPal. Even the supervisors I spoke to in customer service couldn't override the issue, and they were genuinely trying to help me. After a week of not getting it resolved and being down to $2 in cash (Literally) in a foreign country, and not eating some days. I just had to have a relative fly me back to America, and even then the account was giving me an issue. One of the worst times in my life.
5:08 This is not totally accurate: Paypal runs on an automated system, and they refuse to disclose (and in most cases simply do not know) the criteria ruling said system. Also, PayPal staff cannot overrule a decision the automated system has taken; your money is basically in the hands of an algorithm, and you are not allowed to know how its decisions are made.
I kept my paypal account before I retired overseas. Now my son wanted to pay me back for a loan. Because my bank knows my address is overseas, i keep everything in dollars but deal everything online. Paypal also knows my address and as soon as my son paid dollars, paypal converted my money to the local currency (while digitally in the USA). Now to transfer it to my bank still in the US, they will convert to back to dollars. For the funds never leaving the US, I am losing over 5% of every transaction. And for never leaving the USA, PayPal promises it will not take more than a week to credit my account. As soon as I get my funds, I am canceling PayPal.
I tries calling them from overseas. The phone number is for Nebraska but the hours of operation are for Pacific zone. Finally called during those hours and it was obvious I was talking to a Filipino call center. I live in the Philippines.
Thank you, thank you for this superb explanation and intelligent warning about PayPal. I have subscribed and will be telling others about your channel.
This more of a sellers POV. As a buyer/customer, I find PayPal more reliable and "safer" than other methods of payment online. I don't like the idea of main store holding all my payment details and having PayPal as a extra barrier against anyone trying to access my cards making purchases without me knowing.
Everyone and who? Paypal remains the strongest payment partner worldwide. There is no true alternative. Your channel is becoming more and more a clickbaiter. Not worth my time.
I never comment, but had to jump in because what? I’ve just started my business and opted for Stripe, which is the new strongest payment partner worldwide. My biggest reason for not opting for PayPal is because they almost always side with customers when it comes to refunds. Steve is not bullshitting.
@@JAutumn99 we had 3 cases filed against us ever in 13 years on paypal. they were obvious fraud cases where the customer was trying to scam. we were instant banned with out recourse and lost $12k we have still not received. Also using stripe as of now which has been great aside from their refund fees.

In-store physical cash.
You are a sheep. PayPal is a criminal company.
I have not used PP for many years..including eBay. After PP started going after free speech, it gave me all the reasons to cut the ties.
I stopped accepting PayPal 6 years ago.
@@HeinRichKocHPretoria what do you use?

How do you even call or contact PayPal ? their customer service is wack, no actual way to speak to a representative neither by phone nor by email ....

What's the best "receive donations" app or some kind of account for a upcoming content creator on another youtube like platform? (in your opinion)

I agree, but to be able to be a buyer, first there must be a seller.

The ecommerce community. Did you finish watching the video where I talk about interchange plus?
Also, what do you mean there's no true alternative?!? Amazon prime checkout is growing. There's Apple pay... There are a bunch

Obviously Mr. Thomas hasn't been doing much research before commenting 🙄
