And when I start to scan it just scans and scans saying "0 files found" and "trying to jump bad sectors". I left it like that for around 6 hours and it is still saying that. Do you have any advice to recover data lost from a CHKDSK scan? Two days ago I allowed my computer to do a scan and it deleted hundreds of GB of important files. I've tried EaseUs and Recuva and both of them found none of the deleted files.
Have you got anything back? Chkdsk completely obliterated a SD card and mucked up another one so i never use it for those now, but trying it for a raw external hard drive just brings up: "the type of the file system is NTSF Unable to determine volume version & state. chkdsk aborted" so chkdsk is not the be all and end all of solutions that some people thing it is.
Most of the data recovered by these software are sometimes still not of use because the files which gets recovered dont work the way they use to work earlier.....so in that case what is the proper solution for these situation

The problem with easeus is that rcovered files are unreadable the metadata is gone if it's a large 1 TB or more it's near impossible to sort them all out.

My problem is that when I plug in my hard drive, I can access a few folders, but then when I try to open a file or subfolder it gives me this message X:/folder is not accessible. The device is not ready. I can still see the storage space of my hard drive and when I try to do chkdsk, it says that my hard drive is a RAW drive even though in the description, it says NTFS. I tried to use this software you recommended and it will take 2 hours and 30 minutes to scan. It's been awhile now and it still hasn't found any files. Is that normal? Please, I really need your help to fix this.

@techno Math "The type of file system is NTFS. Volume labe is Maxtor external hdd. Corrupt master file table. Windows will attempt to recover master file table from disk. THEN AT LAST "Windows cannot recover master file table. CHKDSK aborted" please help

Villa Chhunkry You can still use the same software for recovering any data from Formatted Hard Drive. I believe it should recover the data. The data should be in LOST folder after you scan the HDD. Let me know if that helps. Thanks :)

Sir, i need you help.. my dellXps 14 L410X, toshiba Internal HD may be corrupted because whenever i tried to boot my laptop it got stuck on black screen after dell flash logo. i tried every possible steps frm Bios to fix it but nothing works ( boot priority..etc) then i decided to use bootable pendrive of WiN7 for reinstaling C drive , but it got stuck on black screen with arrow after "windows file loading".... so i decided to take out that internal HD and try to boot again with Usb and it works. Note: I run ePSA and it said "No diagnostic Utitlity partiton Indentified" and also a message of "media test failure, check cable" So does it mean my internal HD is corrupted? is their any chance of files recovery frm the method shown in your video. pls reply asap.. thank you in advance..🙏

aritra chakraborty Did you try to recover the data from this HDD using the method shown in the video? If yes and still you are not able to resolve your issue then there are two possibility. 1) Either the HDD is corrupted or 2) The connection is loose in the HDD External CASE Cover. I don't think the HDD is corrupted as you said that it shows un-allocated space under Disk Management. So try to recover the data from this RAW HDD and then format it with NTFS file System. If the issue is with External Case Cover, then you can try replacing it. Again you will have to buy the external case for your HDD depending on size (2'5 or 3'5) of the HDD. I would suggest to recover the data and format it first. Let me know if that helps. :)
+Techno Math ease us recovery is showing a blank disc without the capacity details like 1.82tb..and under lost hrd drives in yellow as mentioned in this video..it shows 1.82tb..but under lost hard drives
You have to purchase the software for recovery. Don't use it. Instead go to the command prompt and enter chkdsk /f x: and press enter. x stands for your corrupt disk name. Your all data will be recovered. I have tried and all my data is completely recovered. Thank you.
***** May be there is only 0.5GB of recoverable data in your HDD.You can try Deep Scan as suggested in the video if you suspect that there's lot more data to be recovered..

use live linux on a cd/dvd. you boot from live linuxcd/dvd and copy files to external hd etc

Okay, so it took a total of 9 hours to scan but it hasn't detected any files. Not even a single one. :( Is there any other way to recover my files?

Villa Chhunkry You can still use the same software for recovering any data from Formatted Hard Drive. I believe it should recover the data. The data should be in LOST folder after you scan the HDD. Let me know if that helps. Thanks :)

my dellXps 14 L410X, toshiba Internal HD may be corrupted because whenever i tried to boot my laptop it got stuck on black screen after dell flash logo.
i tried every possible steps frm Bios to fix it but nothing works ( boot priority..etc)
then i decided to use bootable pendrive of WiN7 for reinstaling C drive , but it got stuck on black screen with arrow after "windows file loading"....
so i decided to take out that internal HD and try to boot again with Usb and it works.
Note: I run ePSA and it said "No diagnostic Utitlity partiton Indentified"
and also a message of "media test failure, check cable"
So does it mean my internal HD is corrupted? is their any chance of files recovery frm the method shown in your video.

aritra chakraborty Did you try to recover the data from this HDD using the method shown in the video? If yes and still you are not able to resolve your issue then there are two possibility.
1) Either the HDD is corrupted or
2) The connection is loose in the HDD External CASE Cover.
I don't think the HDD is corrupted as you said that it shows un-allocated space under Disk Management. So try to recover the data from this RAW HDD and then format it with NTFS file System.
If the issue is with External Case Cover, then you can try replacing it. Again you will have to buy the external case for your HDD depending on size (2'5 or 3'5) of the HDD.
I would suggest to recover the data and format it first. Let me know if that helps. :)
+Techno Math ease us recovery is showing a blank disc without the capacity details like 1.82tb..and under lost hrd drives in yellow as mentioned in this video..it shows 1.82tb..but under lost hard drives

You have to purchase the software for recovery. Don't use it. Instead go to the command prompt and enter chkdsk /f x: and press enter.
x stands for your corrupt disk name. Your all data will be recovered. I have tried and all my data is completely recovered. Thank you.

***** May be there is only 0.5GB of recoverable data in your HDD.You can try Deep Scan as suggested in the video if you suspect that there's lot more data to be recovered..

my external drive: WD my passport purchase in 2014
1st 2-3 days external drive worked fine ,but after Windows update , drive not accessible.
I tried Chkdsk ,everything goes well , but still drive is not accessible.
sir, my external drive contents are seen in other laptop and in led tv also. so I know my WD drive is having no issue.
another thing I want to share with you that I have purchased same laptop last year ,in that also after windows update WD drive became un accessible. transcend drive Is opening fine.
help me please I cant afford to loose my content on WD ,
I think this is due new windows 10 update
