Hi I have a BT- 8014 with a damaged connector on the end where it plugs into the bike. Otherwise all good. Please do you know where I could get it repaired or get a replacement connector?
I've never seen any spare parts for sale for these batteries. Shimano would want you to buy a whole new battery probably. Perhaps look for anyone selling a dead battery, and salvage it for parts ?
I have the same battery and I dropped it t is still good no major damage but I need to see wherever the wires connect to like black one and white one and the little blue and yellow I can't seem to find it anywhere on line
The thin yellow wire goes to the BMS - marked as "TX". The thin blue wire also goes to the BMS - marked as "RX". There is also a small black connector on the BMS with 3 or 4 wires - thin black and white wires. These come from the charging port. Good luck.
Hi makeitwork, thanks for a great video. On my BT-E8016 battery there is a small multiconductor cable that goes from the BMS board to the test button on the battery box, it was pulled out during disassembly, but how do I put this cable back on? I can send a photo to your email. Best regardes Jesper Kofoed.
Great video! If the cells dies out, would it be possible to change them out, or would that be a hassle as I could see several flat cables from the original BMS wired to the cells?
It could be done I suppose. The balance points could be re-wired onto the BMS if one breaks on the ribbon cable. I suspect it would also be a major hassle to remove the original cells from the holder too ! Also factor in the possibility of the BMS totally locking up if voltage is removed from it.
Hello,i have one error code (E014) on my bike and i can't fix that(i tryed all what i saw on internet). What is master part who i need to change to lost this error code?
I would need the whole bike to test a Shimano battery. That's not very practical given our respective locations. But I have a spare battery for you to try if you're interested. If you want, send me an email - garethem1@sky.com
I can't see any for sale online. It's extremely doubtful that Shimano would sell spare parts for their batteries. You would probably have to replace it with a different 4 pin connector (rated for 30 amps for positive & negative power leads). And change the charger connector to suit. Good luck ...........
Hi I'm having exactly the same issue with my battery. It's from a Carrera bike and I'm tempted to use same solution. I have some doubts about using this method, as I can see you're removing the aftermarket BMS and closing the battery without it. For few uses will be okay but on long term, due to small chemical differences in cells internal resistance you'll end up with different voltages through the pack and nothing to balance them out. Does your bike work with the aftermarket BMS so the original can be removed? That would be the best I believe Thanks for tinkering with that!
I didn't remove the extra BMS (it's there permanently). It should,as far as any BMS can, keep the cells balanced. But the original BMS has to stay because it needs to communicate with the controller. The extra BMS is for charging purposes only.
I have exactly the same battery with the same problem , could you fix it? I think I’m local to you, judging by the phone number on the estate agent sign at the end of the video :)

Unfortunately , I don't know how to deceive the communication system. In the video , the communication wires (blue and yellow) stay connected to the BMS. If not connected , the system probably would not work.

The yellow & blue wires are not for voltage. They are communication wires (RX and TX) - receive and transmit - probably digital data (CANBUS or similar). The wires communicate with the controller, and if the controller does not receive the expected signal,it will shut down the BMS. Good luck ..........

Thanks for the video. Weird dat shimano manage battery level in cells like this as the bms is the weakest link which we cannot replace ourselves.
HI, thanks for posting.. can you tell me what the cell voltage is at cutoff at full charge.. 3.2V to 4.2V ?
Each cell group will be at 4.1 - 4.2 volts when fully charged.
Awesome fix. Did you have to modify much to fit the bms inside.
Thanks
I haven't finished it yet (hence the part 1 in the title).
Hopefully , I can fit the BMS somewhere.
