“Gly”: Hey guys! We’re taking this channel to the next level so that I can take you to places never before seen on camera. To do this we need equipment and your help! Please consider donating a few $$ to the tip jar, purchasing some cool merchandise or taking home a cool rock specimen from the show! Links are in the description area below and all monies go 100% to the channel. Thanks for your support, you guys are awesome!
Hi Gly we are a gem & mineral dealer out of Japan, originally from Cali though. One of the reasons I appreciate your channel a little more than others is you take time to identify the minerals. Ya, the mines are cool along with all the old relics, but the reason they are there is because of the minerals. So thank you. Looking forward to the specimens you pull out of these places. Stay safe.
“Gly”: I have some more silver / lead sulfide / galena in breccia that I will be posting to my eBay site this Saturday. Also, I may have found a location for more azurite and I’m looking forward to seeing if it’s going to be quality specimens.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces you already have Gly, but yeah mate I'll do my best next month or so, save a bit of money up, and try give what I can however little it may be but if everyone did a little this could grow really what your working toward not a problem, good luck mate
Abandoned and Forgotten Places receiver hitch mounted in the front to match the one in the back.. heavy wall 2x2 box tubing, they use these things to hang wheelchairs, bicycles, etc.
Great idea ‼️‼️‼️ Count me in. Carbide lights, hand drill bits, junk. I can’t wait for you to get started. You and Frank made a good team. I enjoyed the 2019 season. Thank you for all your hard work.
Let me also say I don’t know anything about mines. Have watched Frank’s videos and just happened to come across yours👍. I’m fascinated by mine exploration and rock, mineral, etc ids.
“Gly”: I was in the entertainment industry for 20 years and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s how important it is to interact with your customers / fans. And besides, I like chatting with you guys because your input helps make the channel better.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Yes, this is not my main channel, my main channel brings in the money to support this one, that one is heavily about educating, but entertaining people, and I've been running that for ten years with over 6 million views, but I was told straight away to interact with your subscribers over the various platforms and make your videos interact with them too. Works well, builds a nice little community.
i appreciate that you take time out to explain the minerals that you come across. Also that you known what the right terminology that’s is used in a underground mine. Thanks.
looking forward to a great year...got us thinking......the hard part of going into a vert. shaft is not the going down but the getting back up.......we will get back to ya.....
You deserve every subscriber you have including myself. You make very interesting and educational videos. I enjoy watching them very much. Thank you I hope it only gets better for you from here.
You don’t want to park o’l Bob that close to the hole. That could cause a problem with your safety. Look in to a company called Rescue Jacks. They make a Try-top for a rescue hoist. That’s something you might look into. Also a rope winch. I also noticed Frank doesn’t use a rope guard and allows his ropes to drag on sharp edges. Y’all need to get some old fire hose and run your ropes through that to protect the ropes.
“Gly”: Thanks, I’ll take a look! There certainly won’t be a one size fits all solution to safety explore all shafts but I’ve found enough that I could park Old Bob right next to that would all me to explore and create at least two years worth of episodes for the channel. But your right, I’ve seen allot where you certainly wouldn’t want to get your vehicle anywhere near the collar of the shaft.
Awesome ideas Gly. I mentioned putting a still shot of that mine cat sitting on that stole looking back down at you on a coffee mug or even a T-shirt. I'd buy that mug for sure. Those things are about one of the cutest dang animals i have ever seen with those big ole eyes starring back at you. Congrats on the growth of your channel. It's all about the time you have put into it, and it shows just how much you have. You deserve it. I've been a fan from day one, and I look forward to every Sat morning. I do have a question. I know the difference between and foot wall and a head wall. But what is the difference between a head wall and a hanging wall? Does a hanging wall have something to do with a stope, or a room and pillar operation? thanks for always responding. it's what makes this so much more meaningful for us fans.
“Gly”: I was working on the Mine Cat image last week but I lost the thumbnail image I used for the collaboration. I will get that done and notify you when it’s up on the coffee cup website. The best way to remember footwall and hanging wall is if it’s angled towards your feet it’s the footwall. The hanging wall be angled over your head. A hanging wall and head wall are the same thing but usually only referred to as the hanging wall. Thanks for your support George!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces That would be awesome Gly. Thank you for responding and doing that. Looking forward to some bidding wars for your finds as well. I am an old rock hound from hell. I drive my wife crazy with it. My two Sons are both rock Hounds as well. Chips off the old block I guess. They're enjoying your channel now as well, as I have shared some videos I sent to them, and you deserve all the support you can get. I will always advertise for you, so to speak. I am not a salesman. I feel I can only sell something if it can sell itself, and you have certainly proven this channel to be as such Gly. Continued success Buddy.
George King “Gly”: Hi George! The collaboration coffee mug with the mine cat is up on my website. Please click on the coffee mug link in this videos description area. Hope you like it!
“Gly”: Thanks Kim! Remember, it needs to fit in the round icon as well as be used for T-shirts, hats and other merchandise 👍👍 Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
“Gly”: Well, for this initial go around the $15.00 is acting not only as shipping but as a base price / donation to help the show. It’s just a way of ensuring each rock puts part of $15.00 into the tip jar since the starting bid is only .99 cents. Any $$ gained over that amount is just more money in the tip jar and more money for the channel.
I agree the artwork doesn’t represent your channel as well as it deserves. I say this not having artistic talents whatsoever.😊. In this video I’m glad to see your face, who you are.😊😊. Love you videos. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
I like the channel for the balance of geology, miner's wisdom and exploration. You've picked a balance that no other "abandoned mine/building" has found, and I like it for that'. While I'm not against difficult accesses, I'm not wanting you to put life and limb on the line to get the next film.. Running a powered winch for 1000ft drops is mot a simple task, look into it before you pay up for anything. I saw the ebay page but baulked at $90 for international shipping (I'm in England).
“Gly”: Deep inaccessible mines is something the channel will eventually grow into but not before all the proper safety logistics have been worked out. That level of exploring could cost me my life if done improperly and I’m well aware of the risks. Yes, International shipping is really expensive and because most of these places I explore are in very rural areas the only shipping option I have is with USPS.
And here's an idea for your logo-Have both you guys perched on top of one of those ore loading towers. With a grinning Frank with a Modelo in one hand and that miners cat skeleton in the other. And Gly beside him with a big grin and and his thumbs-up hiking staff. And maybe the dancing hula girl between yous.
Gly, I'm a newbie to your channel and hooked to it! The other night I was watching with my laptop and headphones on and my Wife asks what are you watching? I told her you should watch this guy and his buddy as they explore old mine shafts.....it's amazing, so she watched with me. When it was over she looked at me and said, "Oh hell no you're not doing that"! ..lol... I'll buy some coffee mugs and T shirts instead...:)
“Gly”: Thanks! I’m really happy your enjoying the show! These places are like real life time capsules and each and every one is unique in its own special way. Oh, and if you do purchase a coffee cup... thank you! And thanks for supporting the channel!
Your vids are already some of my favorites on U-tube. And with the new collaboration with Frank I can only envision great things in your future! You both bring unique qualities to the channel and I am highly looking forward to the 2020 shows. I will peruse your merchandise and also try to come up with some logo ideas for you.
“Gly”: Thank you so much! This channel has come so far in such a short amount of time and it’s because of great subscribers like yourself that made that possible. Together I think we can all make this the coolest mine exploring channel on TH-cam and I so very much want to take cameras into places never before seen. 👍👍
I think you're going to need a rigging that can be anchored opposite sides of the collar, secured down with guy ropes. Something that can be packed away on the back of your truck
I love these ideas! I'm not even a rock hound and I got excited about your ebay store. I'm not super artistic but I hope someone comes up with something super cool. I have tons of ideas so I'm sure other people do too. Stoked to see the progression you make on this channel. 10k and beyond!
“Gly”: Thanks! My subscribers and the channels popularity will ultimately determine the course of the channel. I really want to take you guys to some spectacular hidden places but it’s going to take some equipment to make that happen. Thanks for your support!
I just recently found your channel and really enjoy it. I'm busy trying to look at all the videos from the start. Really interesting and cool stuff! Thank you.
jeepejeep “Gly”: Gly is my nickname and it was given to me back in the early 2000’s when I used to build super fast liquid cooled computers. I used ethylene glycol for the coolant. Gly is short for Glycol and that’s how I got the name. The name just kind of stuck.
GLY- The DATE of ANY BOX, or Bag, or CONTAINER can be determined, as long as it has an address. The 5-digit US Postal Zip Code came into effect right about 1962. The 9-digit zip is right about 2000. In the 1940's and 50's there was also a zip code system, but its a bit confusing. There is a 2 or 3 digit zip code USUALLY placed between the city and the state. These Zips were TYPICALLY used in metropolitan areas, but not all metro areas. At this same time, often the address contains no Zip at all. Please Google the exact dates for this system, but I'm pretty close. I'll ad this post to a few more of your videos so that you can find it, because I think this Zip information will add some solid facts about the artifacts and your location. Love your vids...great job! Please stay safe. Good luck!
Before you get too far into designing a rig for the jeep take a look at what's commercially available for confined space entry. there's several good designs that you can start with and remember to do your math so you don't take Bob down the shaft with you.
“Gly”: Absolutely. This thing needs to be well though out because lives depend on it. I think it’s an achievable goal for the channel and when it comes to fruition it’ll open so many doors to places never seen before.
You might want a repelling tripod, not a rig for the jeep, a little more mobile and easier to make. I have used them in repelling and rescue training. Can be anchored, used on boley, we even had a 12v wench we could hook up hanging from the tripod and lift heavy stuff.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces really enjoy what you're doing, thanks for letting us put in our 2 cents! Even though I feel you go a bit fast when with Frank, I Absolutely love the vids of you both exploring together. Wish you the best and look forward excitedly to what you decide to do!
Hey gly Chanel is growing Wich is awesome really enjoy the platform you’ve created I’m no artist but always thought a funny pic would be you an old bob popping out of a incline shaft great stuff congratulations as always be safe
I've been following frank and other mine explorers for years. I used to work on cars. A LOT of cars. The crane your talking about would be a good idea, however: your jeeps' suspension would need a heavy duty upgrade to carry the weight(450-900 lbs.). The crane itself would have to carry a working load of (2)men @ 250LBS. each, (2)back-packs @ 75LBS. each, and the climbing rope(at least 500ft.) @ 60LBS. Add in a bit of safety and you are at 800LBS. min., 1000LBS. is what I would shot for, just in case a rescue is needed. The crane itself would have-to extend 16ft. min., 22 would be best, after all, parking a 3-TON jeep next to a shaft opening, is not a good idea. Several LED lights on the boom arm shining down would help with video lighting and your descent. Keep up the good work.
“Gly”: Well, I wasn’t considering all that. Just me, my camera and and my small backpack would be the only things going in the hole on a harness via a boom no more than 6 or 8 feel long. That configuration alone would allow me to access hundreds of shafts and keep the channel busy for quite a while if not years. Portable, lightweight and strong is the key as most of these places can only be accessed via very rugged and rocky trails.
Thank you, thank you and thank you!! Love the explanation of mine classes When I think of A&FP, I think Gly Coolness! or Maybe "Old Bob". Sorry, best I can do! I can't believe how far you've came since the first. I doubt you could have thought it, and it only gets better! That is one huge cactus behind you. Almost as wide as you!! :-) :-)
Personally, you should use a picture from this video of you with ole Bob standing in front of the cactus. Christian could probably make or fabricate something to attach to ole Bob to lower you down a shaft.
“Gly”: Thanks! I will have ten very nice silver ore specimens available this coming Saturday at 6:00am Pacific time. They are ore samples I found last year before starting this channel.
Mine videos can be classified too. Level One - video of the haulage adit. Depending on what equipment remains in the mine this can be very interesting or boring. I like mines with timbering, ore chutes and machinery. Level Two - includes video of the stopes. The stopes are where the actual mining took place. A good stopes video explains how the miners removed ore from places that often look impossible to access. Level Three - includes one or both of the above plus mine geology. Level Four - provides level one or two plus history and geology. Level Five - a multilevel mine with shafts and requiring rope work. A mine like this can be interesting or boring. However, it requires a team of experienced people for safe access. A team is necessary to evacuate an injured or stuck member. If you wish to do level five work form or join a team of experienced mine explorers. Gly, having been a miner, you probably know more of mining geology than any of the others making mine videos. So, instead of going deeper or into more dangerous ground, brush up your geology and bring us viewers what the miners saw that caused them to do all that digging in the first place.
“Gly”: It’s a delicate balance when making these videos because your doing your best to cater to a wide audience. Believe me, I could rattle on all day like Jeff Williams about geology and mines but allot of people would click off. Lol. I know I’m the new kid on the block but I’ve been crawling in and out of these places since the 80’s and my experience with ropes hasn’t been portrayed in any of my videos yet. Back in the 90’s I did that kind of stuff but I wasn’t going to bring it into the channel until I could see how this idea would develop. When joining a club or surrounding yourself with with different levels of “experts” in my experience has been both good and bad coming from the explosives and entertainment industry. The gained knowledge is fantastic but the attitudes, posturing and know it all’s can be a real distraction and annoyance. You can be assured I will only push myself to my comfort level of experience and understanding while making this entertaining for the viewers. Because as you and I both know recklessness in this hobby is a good way to get yourself hurt or killed.
“Gly”: No, having a multitude of people in a abandoned mine poses too many safety issues. What I do recommend is anyone that’s interested in this sort of activity to join a club like Underground Explorers for example.
Wish i was out there man. I'd help ya with the gantry setup on ole Bob. Wouldn't be hard at all, already know how most of it would be done and mounted, and removable. Be safe out there man.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces thats what I was thinkin for ya. You already have the 2 lower mounting points on the bumper. Just have to weld 2 upper mounts close to the hood, 4 pieces of pipe, a rod and a pulley. Love the idea and it will make it way safer for yall to go down a vertical shaft
When constructing the gantry, think about making it portable also (maybe 3 legged with attachable plates for feet to keep from digging into the ground) for the times you cant get close enough to the opening of the shaft. A windlass with a large enough drum for 1,000 feet of line and powered by a geared down 12 vdc motor would help in descending and accending deeper reaches. The legs could be approximately 10 feet total length using 2 6 foot sections bolted together with wing-nuts on a 1-foot overlap. This would give you a triangle of 10' x 10' x 10' or maybe larger if needed. I would suggest 2 x 2 angle 3/16" or 1/4" for strength. The ends of the angle could be drilled to be able to be used with the pads on the front bumper of Old Bob. Attached to Old Bob, you could have either a 6' or 10' reach and have a guy line from the pully area back to the rear of Old Bob.
Bob Renner “Gly”: Excellent suggestions! Great minds do think alike. Many shafts that I’ve found I’ve been able to drive up right next to without any issues. The ones missing collars are the ones usually shaped like funnels with lots of loose material around the opening. Yes, I will be equipping Old Bob with one of those cargo racks where I can then keep all the pieces for the gantry fastened and mobile. Going off of what I’ve found so far the gantry really doesn’t need to have more than a eight foot reach.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I won't get started with any technical rescue or OSHA type comments lol But please, if you are going down a shaft, have a second egress, especially if you are using a powered hoist. Don't have your only support be the jib, run a Lifeline long enough to reach the bottom of the mine over the jib and fastened directly to the frame of the jeep or the springs or something, so even if there was some accident and the front bumper broke off, the Lifeline would be attached seperatly to something heavy and large enough not to go down the hole. Then, take ascenders with you, and anytime you are on the hoist, keep attached to the Lifeline as well, so that no matter what happens, you can get back out. And don't rely on the guy on the surface to be able to rescue you. Heart attack, heat stroke, snake bite, aliens, bandits, etc. Many things could happen, and I am unless you have multiple trusted people on the surface, give yourself at least two ways out, the primary and a lifeline. Also, if you are going to be lowered by a hoist, it wouldn't be hard to make a rock shield that would ride just above you, maybe just a piece of plexiglass or something that the line passes through, so that you aren't the first obstacle on their way to the floor lol And if you made it so that the jib gantry poles attached in sockets on the bumper, with a pole going back to the roof rack, you could easily pop the whole thing off and set it up as a tripod by itself. Put some chain between the legs to adjust the spread and support the weight, and some feet which could be as simple as a couple of layers of plywood squares with a hole through the top layer to hold the leg. And before you get that far along, I am sure someone makes a compact drone that is stable enough with shrouded propellers that you could fly it into places in mines that you can't get to. And if it's down a shaft, maybe use a fishing pole so you can retrieve it if it crashes lol
Love your show! I see great value in leading groups down abandoned mines and giving them the history and geology. It could expand into training people on how to safely navigate the more dangerous levels. I am working out a boom design for hauling up materiel, for your idea, something that would use the towbar mounts and clamp to the top bar should work. Bruce tucson
Gly, I watched "Wild America" in the 90's narrated by Marty Stewart. If I closed my eyes and just listened I could be listening to Wild America with some "dirty" content. Haha
“Gly”: You just gave me a great idea! I’ll hang a pair of those steel “trucker” balls you see on peoples bumpers from the cage or harness that will be used for lowering me into shafts. Lol
“Gly”: Thanks for your bid! I’m working on that coffee cup tomorrow as well as adding more rock specimens from my collection. I lost the thumbnail with the miners cat that I used for the collaboration so I have to re-create it again from scratch. And the new rock specimens are those that I found before starting the channel. Check back tomorrow night, I should have everything uploaded by then.
You could do a series of books by state for the adventurous. In essence helping to bring safety and education to something that is presently dangerous and not much knowledge of the mines out there. Your classification would help with that as people can more correctly choose the level of their abilities bruce tucson
Yes that is true . But the 3800 lbs of Bob only held on by 16 square inches of surface contact with a inch of decomposing rock and gravel . Spose the Boom may jam into the other side of the Hole as Bob went in for the Rescue . Hope the guy on the end of the Rope is Strapped in to A Teter . I'm a Millions Years Old And I Feel Great . Sort of . Lol
Can we have level 6 for level 5s, but your fighting copious amounts of water? Funny you should mention about the rocks going down shafts, I was doing a level 5, bottom of the shaft and I just heard 'look out' from the top of the shaft, I leaped to the side to find a boulder land just about where I was...scary stuff.
Seems your collaborations with Frank has been a positive influence to step up your own game. That's a good thing, but take your time and don't rush into it before you're really ready. Maybe use some of the money coming in to take proper courses on ropes, knots, climbing, etc. --- Etsy might be another option for selling mineral samples you've found; I personally don't / won't use ebay. --- I wouldn't mind seeing an episode showing off your equipment, and that PVC camera rig.
“Gly”: Yes, I knew that collaborating with Frank was going to take the channel in a helpful direction. What people don’t know about me is I used to do ropes and rock climbing in the 90’s but all that equipment was sold as marriage and kids took the spotlight. I’m ready to get back into rope work once again with new and more modern equipment. Climbing gear has com a long way since that time but as with so much in life there’s always room for learning and improvement and climbing definitely fits that category. In my opinion Franks rope techniques are very crude but it’s what he is comfortable with and that’s what is important. You won’t see me dangling my ass over a 1000 foot abyss until equipment and training is where it should be. In the meantime the channel needs a new drone and other electronics to help polish up the episodes and that’s what I’ll be focused on in the interim.
The new DJI Mavic Mini is looking pretty nice. Light weight, compact, handles well in wind, good flight time, decent video quality. I'm just waiting for DJI to bring the firmware up to snuff before I buy one. As they always do, they released it before it was actually ready. I'm thinking maybe by March they'll have the firmware issues worked out where it's worth buying one. --- I wish I had the camera equipment I have now back when I was exploring Northern California gold mines. My grandpa got me into exploring ghost towns, abandoned mines, and Indian caves in the late 1950's and 60's. I'm now in that "ancient" age group and though I would still feel fairly comfortable in the mines, getting to them would wear me out. And while I was doing it all those years I had enough experiences that I could have died, but didn't, that I figure the odds were getting stacked against me. So I stopped about 15 years ago while I could.
"Gly": That is exactly the one I will be purchasing for the channel. A recent firmware update has come out (so I've read) and most of its issues should be fixed now. It'll be the perfect drone for capturing aerial footage of places where a larger drone would be a pain in the butt to pack into. I like Franks DJI Phantom 4 but I think the Mini will be far more versatile and it operates indoors without the need of a GPS signal. How cool would it have been to fly the Mini in those big stopes at the landslide mine?
I live in Los Angeles California now but I was stationed at 29 palms for years hey Joshua Tree National Monument I know of a few mines that may or may not have been created by now but they weren't back in the 80s I know of one bit of a hike but it was a real blast going through it being a dummy you didn't know what I was doing so it didn't get documented we could ever get together I'd love to get you out there and document that mine
“Gly”: Hahaha! Great ideas! In the last episode Instead of naming it “we go under the landslide” I was going to name it “We Found a Crack Bigger than Franks!” Hahaha!
Thank you for your efforts when I watch your videos it's like I'm along with you. I live in Georgetown Colorado . if you need safety man text me thanks again for your efforts on building a great channel. Mark
Hello, I just found your channel - and I love it already. I like the way you speak about the geology and things you see. I am an amateur geolog and mineral collector myself, so I like the way you explain. One question: Do you ship to Norway from your store? I like your caps and much more, so I gonna order things if you ship to Norway. I look forward to many more of your exciting videos. Greetings from Norway. 73 Asle
“Gly”: Thank you very much and I’m really happy your enjoying the show! Yes, all of my merchandise can be shipped internationally. And, beginning tomorrow morning all rock samples I sell on eBay are shipped worldwide too. Thanks for your support and supporting the channel!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces thank you for your reply. I willdefinately bid on samples I find interresting. But I hope you will write a little note with the name of the mine where you found the samples, it is important for us collectors to know where the mineral came from. I like to visit old mine myself, but unfortunately here in Norway we don't have so many abandoned mines like you have in the U:S: The big mines we got here are either flooded, closed or museum-mines. But we have alot of smaller mines, but they are nothing like yours. Asle
Asle Runar Borgersen “Gly”: All of the rock samples I sell on eBay will contain a personal letter along with the state and county where I found the specimen. To help protect the mines I explore I won’t be revealing the name of the mine or the precise location of where I found the rock specimen. The specimens I will have available tomorrow will be some really nice examples of silver ore in breccia.
“Gly”: if there’s interesting out buildings around a mine I’ll video those but ghost town videos aren’t very popular or haven’t been viewed very much on my channel such like the one I did in Swansea for example. I’ll do my best to keep it interesting for ya but the vast majority of viewers really want to see what’s down in these old mines.
Look Up . VICE DESIGN . SAFETY FIRST . ALWAYS . I will tell you though . Bob won't Do it . Not enough weight to counter balance the weight of the Person + Equipment as well as the Cable or Rope the Winch would be Transferring the Weight from too . You would require a set up that would allow you to drop straight down . There Would be a D9 CAT ATTACHED TO IT . If I was the guy . Not a Car or Truck .
“Gly”: You really think so? The Jeep weighs 3800Lbs and the gantry won’t stick out more than 6 or 8 feet tops. You’d only be lowering the weight of the person plus the weight of the cable. I would think 3800Lbs would be plenty of an offset.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Hi Gly I watch you and Frank from Australia.Make sure whatever you end up using is portable but strong enough for the job. I'd hate to see a Balgrog grab Frank one day when you lower him down a deep shaft.
cant wait for the class five to kick in, coffee mugs a bit bland for me. hoodies with zips would be of more interest to me and more colour options. but hey put some muns in the tip jar
“Gly”: Thanks Ray! I just saw it come through. Thank you so very much! And like I said, it’ll go to purchasing new equipment to make the show even better. 👍
“Gly”: Today, and tomorrow are the last days. A winner will be selected Tuesday so that the video announcement can appear before next Saturday’s show. Remember, the winning artwork will appear in the channels round thumbnail (currently skull face ) and used across multiple platforms including merchandise.
ok then here goes with the first silly question , the terms you use things like wheeze stopp aditt are thay just localized terms or thay known world wide , i only ask cus over here in the ukive never herd them terms before , ps great channel
“Gly”: Those are terms used here in the US but your right, they are mostly not used in the UK. We do have variances of terms used here in the US depending on what part of the county your mining in.
Barry Clarke “Gly”: Thanks! Yes, I have loved geology ever since I was a kid and I’ve got the basics down pretty good. Owning and operating a gold mine in the 90’s also gave me allot of experience finding gold and what to look for.
“Gly”: Yes I do! All merchandise is global. Rock specimens have a $15.00 base first class shipping rate for US domestic. For overseas, if the shipping is over $15.00 Ebay via paypal will request a payment for anything above the $15.00. It’s really easy to do and instructions are simple. You’ll get a notification email from either ebay or paypal.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces no worries Gly I just needed rough Idea of prices dude, thanks, ps this mine you and frank are in is best for a while with some artifacts and accessability even though ladders slowed ya down a bit lol but franks speed is your training hey and your looking better for it and keeping up well
Have you gotten anywhere with your armature/gantry idea for 'Old Bob' yet? If you want I can design something for you, I do metalworking on custom design and fabrication as a hobby. All I would need is some measurements to start with, and just how you would want it to attach to Ol' Bob there.
“Gly”: Yes, the design is ready and on paper. All I’m waiting for now is for the channel to climb to 100,000 subscribers or greater because I want a larger audience before I start descending into Class 5 mines. In the meantime I’m still concentrating on Class 3 and 4 mines.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Cool, I will be waiting for that one. Actually saw your sub count go from 62.6 to 62.7 between two videos yesterday, so the number is rising! And given the numbers I have seen in the comments and things you've said in the videos you gained a lot here recently too. Good luck and stay safe out there.
“Gly”: For international, if the shipping is over $15.00 I will email you a request via PayPal for the difference. Once received I’ll ship it right out to you. 👍
Gly I would like you to go into the "Ida May" in Nevada, it's a huge mine that I would love to see the guts of. I'm to big of a pussy to do it myself. LoL! I don't like holes in the ground but I absolutely love the history/artifacts. I would be guide and surface support. I live in southern Utah about 2 1/2 hours from the "Ida May". It's a neat place.
“Gly”: I will eventually be near that location but I’m not sure when. This summer’s itinerary is mapped out already but I’ll be doing this for quite a few summers and winters to come as the channel grows.

And where did u get it and cash , if u don't want to talk about $$ on here it's way fine . And really I'm a farmer / fab person . The front rig is not hard to make ( I don't want to do it 4u 😔✔✔✔✔✔) . But could tell u how to make it up and what you could bass it off of to see what I have in mind Gly
heith Doty “Gly”: With parts, labor and fuel to drive to Lake Havasu to get it done it all cost $600 and the channels TH-cam Ad revenue paid for it 100%. It’s tight with only about 1” or less of over steer. Once again I’m back to driving it with two fingers. 👍
Yeh . I see u talk about the add's helping you out . It very cool that worked out . . So you know the feeling of a good gust of wind .😔😅😅 . I will do some more searching around for a new remained box. Ok so think of a motor puller attached to the front of the jeep . Not the same as it but close to it .. but on the same perpus as the puller . If you don't know what a motor puller in u can search it . If u do look it up plz get back to me about my concept I have in my head .
In some cases, at least from what I understand, you can't take anything, even rusty old cans are like sacred BLM property, something like over fifty years old. I don't see how they can lay claim to rocks, but in parks you can't pick them up and go home with them, the idea I guess that soon that spot is a hole or something. But reality is, I doubt that the mine is going to get bigger by taking them. I live near a trail that is state and county property and I was yelled at for picking up agates along the trail, like people here have been doing for so long there are hardly any to be found. But I don't think they are in anyway natural because its old rail bed that they covered with gravel that they found for cheap and the ATV traffic alone is grinding them to dust. Which to me is like a rock from a mine, eventually it's going to be buried or dissolved or something, leave the rusty old cans because the BLM thinks they hold value and sacred air. But look into the hows and whys of rocks falling into your pockets and backpack, you never know when the agents of desert are going to frisk you for rocks yah know. Been watching the vids from old to new and I stopped here just to see what's up, so back to watching the old to new....
“Gly”: The rule for rock hounds is something like no more than 50Lbs. No, I won’t be gathering or selling any artifacts. I only film artifacts in place and that’s how it should be.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces It's always a treat for me to be able to get off the beaten path and 'discover' something old along the way, I leave everything so the next person can leave them as well.
Thanks for your support, you guys are awesome!

oh yeh,& the jeep parked out front..
Also, I may have found a location for more azurite and I’m looking forward to seeing if it’s going to be quality specimens.
you deserve it mate, lets get 10,000 then 20,000

Great idea ‼️‼️‼️ Count me in. Carbide lights, hand drill bits, junk. I can’t wait for you to get started.
You and Frank made a good team. I enjoyed the 2019 season. Thank you for all your hard work.
great idea with old bob modification winch and framework with pulley,
Syd G Thats a damn good idea you have there. Initially the set up cost might be a bit more. But it sounds damn handy in application.
Let me also say I don’t know anything about mines. Have watched Frank’s videos and just happened to come across yours👍. I’m fascinated by mine exploration and rock, mineral, etc ids.
Love your show please keep em coming!
Thank you for sharing this video. Your ideas you shared I appreciate. God bless.
I like the original opening video where you stand in front of the Adit just before you walk in. That's what I think of when i watch your channel.
You deserve those subscribers, fun, informative videos and you actually talk to people unlike some channels that barely interract.
Best channel on mine's and exploration keep up the good work
i appreciate that you take time out to explain the minerals that you come across. Also that you known what the right terminology that’s is used in a underground mine. Thanks.
Thank you sir for explaining the different class mines
looking forward to a great year...got us thinking......the hard part of going into a vert. shaft is not the going down but the getting back up.......we will get back to ya.....
“Gly”: That’s why I think it would be best to use a winch.
blue asbestos rock will look great in the collection
Crap!! 6 -8 months ago the chanel felt like "mine" shared with a few friends....
Seriously well deserved !!
Keep it up GLY!
“Gly”: It’s growing fast! I’m really looking forward to taking my audience to some more extreme locations.
I like watching your show you go places I could never do myself
Your a great guy and doing a awesome job, keep up the great videos, thank you so much for all the education.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The rock bidding is an awesome idea!! Although int. shipping will be painful. Wish you the best for this upcoming year
“Gly”: Well, for this initial go around the $15.00 is acting not only as shipping but as a base price / donation to help the show. It’s just a way of ensuring each rock puts part of $15.00 into the tip jar since the starting bid is only .99 cents. Any $$ gained over that amount is just more money in the tip jar and more money for the channel.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces alright thanks!
Make sure to tell frank" just say no to crack!!" LOL
I love your videos!!!!!
Hello Gly, some fantastic idea's there, lets get this channel higher as you really deserve the best. 💖🙏🏻😉 xx
“Gly”: Thanks Sue!
I agree the artwork doesn’t represent your channel as well as it deserves. I say this not having artistic talents whatsoever.😊. In this video I’m glad to see your face, who you are.😊😊. Love you videos. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Love your videos, can’t get enough of it!😁😁
I am totally clueless about this subject that's why I'm here!!
“Gly”: Hahaha! I’ll take not of that!
You can't turn old old Bob into a fishing reel and use our buddy Frank as bait. It's going to take some specific safety equipment!
“Gly”: Precisely! That’s exactly what I want to do is turn Old Bob into a 4WD fishing reel. Haha! Using Frank as bait is optional. Lol
I think the logo should include old Bob
I really love your channel and I would had loved to draw somthing for it! I wish I wasnt a year late hopping on!
I wish I had some artistic skills but you have my support. Would love to buy you a burger and a beer :-)
I just recently found your channel and really enjoy it. I'm busy trying to look at all the videos from the start. Really interesting and cool stuff! Thank you.
“Gly”: Thanks for your support! I really want to make this channel the best it can be and take you to places never seen before, ever.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces Since I'm new here, can you tell me what "Gly" is?
jeepejeep
“Gly”: Gly is my nickname and it was given to me back in the early 2000’s when I used to build super fast liquid cooled computers.
“Gly”: Thanks! I’m getting allot of great ideas and suggestions. Thanks for your comment!
“Gly”: Thanks Steve! I’m not a artist either but that’s a good idea. Lol
Christian could probably make or fabricate something to attach to ole Bob to lower you down a shaft.
the ebay thing is a cool idea
“Gly”: Thanks! I will have ten very nice silver ore specimens available this coming Saturday at 6:00am Pacific time. They are ore samples I found last year before starting this channel.
Love the Jeep man I have a 98 Cherokee.
“Gly”: Jeep 👋 wave!
Would you ever consider doing a public mine tour? Like people could buy tickets and you could do a guided tour through a level 2-3 mine?(for safety)
“Gly”: No, having a multitude of people in a abandoned mine poses too many safety issues. What I do recommend is anyone that’s interested in this sort of activity to join a club like Underground Explorers for example.
Good plan!
Wish i was out there man. I'd help ya with the gantry setup on ole Bob. Wouldn't be hard at all, already know how most of it would be done and mounted, and removable. Be safe out there man.
“Gly”: Old Bob is going to get a top rack so the gantry pieces when disassembled can be mounted to it for travel.
Bob Renner
“Gly”: Excellent suggestions!
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I won't get started with any technical rescue or OSHA type comments lol
But please, if you are going down a shaft, have a second egress, especially if you are using a powered hoist.
Also, if you are going to be lowered by a hoist, it wouldn't be hard to make a rock shield that would ride just above you, maybe just a piece of plexiglass or something that the line passes through, so that you aren't the first obstacle on their way to the floor lol
And if you made it so that the jib gantry poles attached in sockets on the bumper, with a pole going back to the roof rack, you could easily pop the whole thing off and set it up as a tripod by itself.
When I hear "Abandoned and forgotten places"
Honestly I think of Detroit.
Love your show! I see great value in leading groups down abandoned mines and giving them the history and geology. It could expand into training people on how to safely navigate the more dangerous levels. I am working out a boom design for hauling
up materiel, for your idea, something that would use the towbar mounts and clamp to the top bar should work.

Gly, I watched "Wild America" in the 90's narrated by Marty Stewart. If I closed my eyes and just listened I could be listening to Wild America with some "dirty" content. Haha
“Gly”: Yeah, I do kind of sound like him. Lol
Level 5 other special equipment is steel balls...😉.
“Gly”: You just gave me a great idea! I’ll hang a pair of those steel “trucker” balls you see on peoples bumpers from the cage or harness that will be used for lowering me into shafts. Lol
do a segment on equipment, Please!
I Bid on the Galena. Would Love to see a coffee cup with the Picture for "@" featuring the Miner's Cat !!
In essence helping to bring safety and education to something
that is presently dangerous and not much knowledge of the mines out there. Your classification would help with that as people can more correctly choose the level of their abilities

Thought that this was the "Frank didn't make it" video
“Gly”: Frank is taking some time off in Mexico right now.
Gly, you don't need to make this (old mine associated) channel the best on the interweb, it already is.....!
“Gly”: Thank you!
“Gly”: I guess we could have sub-categories such as Level 5 wet, Level 5 dry, Level 5 slimy. 😂 Lol!

"Gly": Yes, that's me. Thank you very much for your donation to the tip jar!! Your awesome!
"Gly": Yes, that's me. Thank you very much for your donation to the tip jar!! Your awesome!
Ya, always thought your thumbnail looks more like an urbex channel. I'm no artist though lol
“Gly”: Yep! It’s time for a change. The current thumbnail doesn’t accurately reflect Abandoned & Forgotten Places.
PS. If you go Patreon, Let me know !!
“Gly”: Will do! I think I might do something similar to what Jeff Williams does with his Patreon. I like his template.
Those are some giant cacti
Have you ever taken a UV light to see what might show up without white light in those mines?
“Gly”: It’s on the purchase list for the channel! Please consider contributing to the channels tip jar👍😃
Hey Gly why not offer walking stick/snake finder with tennis ball. Maybe even autographed
“Gly”: That is in the works right now!!👍👍
I will buddy lol. And do u bring a radon detector with u.
Put Frank's face as you picture. Haha
Like the thumbnail for episode 35 lol that make me think of abandoned and forgotten places
Just so long as it isn't his butt crack! We've seen that thing so much it needs a name and it's own TH-cam channel, Aye Gly?
That's just his Adit lol
@@richardbostick8675 I call it the Great CrevASSe!!!! lol
Mark
"Gly": Thanks Mark! I'm happy your enjoying the show! That was my goal to make each episode feel like your right there along with me.
Asle
Asle Runar Borgersen
“Gly”: All of the rock samples I sell on eBay will contain a personal letter along with the state and county where I found the specimen. To help protect the mines I explore I won’t be revealing the name of the mine or the precise location of where I found the rock specimen. The specimens I will have available tomorrow will be some really nice examples of silver ore in breccia.
I hope you make other video for variation(exploring some other abandoned places not only mine).
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces such pro mining exploration, and very good shooting, keep it up, and be safe
For the art work will a picture of the drawing work? I also have a rock I got in silverton Colorado I thought you could tell me what you see
“Gly”: The artwork needs to be completed and preferably in a PNG file. No, I’m afraid a picture of artwork won’t work.
Abandoned and Forgotten Places
Ok I am working on a drawing in need to figure out how to get in PNG file
Where in Arizona did you film this Intro?
“Gly”: I was near Harquahala mountain when I filmed this.
What kind of lift are you going to put on ur jeep?
“Gly”: Eventually, just a 2”. All I want to do is run a 33” tire. The combination of the two will give me all the clearance I need.
Are you going to get a rough country or a off brand ?
Josh Dollar
“Gly”: Rock Krawler is the brand I will be going with.
Would you be able to include a locality label with the mineral specimens? Nothing official of course.
“Gly”: Like state and county? Yes!
When is the logo art due by?
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces ty gly for replying so fast
Barry Clarke
“Gly”: Thanks! Yes, I have loved geology ever since I was a kid and I’ve got the basics down pretty good. Owning and operating a gold mine in the 90’s also gave me allot of experience finding gold and what to look for.
I’m not seeing the links...
“Gly”: They are all in the description drop down area for this video.
Got any leaverite?
Yeah, he did...but he left it there
“Gly”: Oh, I’ve got leaverite by the truckload!
do you ship overseas Gly ?
@The SS Youth yeah thats why looking I asked GLY he would have an idea of the cost
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces no worries Gly I just needed rough Idea of prices dude, thanks, ps this mine you and frank are in is best for a while with some artifacts and accessability even though ladders slowed ya down a bit lol but franks speed is your training hey and your looking better for it and keeping up well
andrew barker
“Gly”: Yeah, Frank is in excellent shape for a man his age. Little by little I’m working my way back up to that level.
Can I go with you one of these times
Would love to support you buy bidding on ebay items, but all are set to ship to usa only.
“Gly”: For international, if the shipping is over $15.00 I will email you a request via PayPal for the difference. Once received I’ll ship it right out to you. 👍
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces ebay wont let you even bid if you have it set to not ship to your country btw, so only Americans can bid on your items
i take it back it let me bid.
"Gly": Excellent! thank you! If you win the bid I'll ship it to you the most cost effective way via USPS.
Khaine8
“Gly”: I will have some more items up for bid in the coming days and I’ll be sure to adjust the International settings next time.
I have a rig in mind for the jeep .
And speaking of the jeep . How did the swop out work out for the steering box . I have a 87 Yj in need of love . U could get in touch with me off here if ud like . 💪💪🖒✔
“Gly”: The new steering gear box was installed last month. I was in and out of the shop in less than two hours. Old Bob is happy now.
Yeh . Iv seen you talk about it a few times now . But I want to know how it feels driving now . 🤔 I'm not thinking I could miss the 2 to 3 inc counter stearing at all .😩😔😅😅 so really . How is it holding up . . Or .🤔 can you drive it in 30 mph winds and still stay on the right side of a lined road kind of thing . And where did u get it and cash , if u don't want to talk about $$ on here it's way fine . And really I'm a farmer / fab person . The front rig is not hard to make ( I don't want to do it 4u 😔✔✔✔✔✔) . But could tell u how to make it up and what you could bass it off of to see what I have in mind Gly
heith Doty
“Gly”: With parts, labor and fuel to drive to Lake Havasu to get it done it all cost $600 and the channels TH-cam Ad revenue paid for it 100%.
:-)
