I like how when everyone laughs at Mark, Jez and Hans keep a completely straight face. They're actually underrated as friends.
Yup, this was also the first time I disliked Dobby. She knows Mark isn't good with trendy music, but teams up against him with someone obviously hitting on her, then proceeds to laugh and make cringe faces at him when he struggles with the game.
They are not even pointing the camera at them.

the connection between jez and hans is honestly one of my favourite parts of the show, hans is the best actor on the show.

This game wasn't really about knowing bands, it was for the hipsters to congratulate each other for having a load of inside jokes that Mark wasn't in on, so it wasn't just his lack of musical knowledge that doomed him. Even by Peep Show standards Simon and his mates were obnoxious and snide, and Mark's paranoia and dislike of him was actually justified for once.

Funny bc everyone in my generation had a massive crush on Matt Baynton from Horrible Histories and then we grew up and watched him in Peep Show and hated him 😂
Of course, if Simon actually knew anything about music he'd know that electro wasn't just a synonym for electronica, so Hot Chip aren't actually "cool electro" at all.

I know a lot of bands and artists, but I feel like I would absolutely fail at picking up which one's which from these vague clues.
@Waxing Wampeter I think that's the point maybe? To make us take Mark's side against the too cool hipsters that Dobbie is friends with.
Yeah this game is unwinnable unless you’re completely on the same page as your partner in music taste and discuss it often, like Jez & Hans or Dobbie & the hipster prick. Anyone could see Mark is extremely disadvantaged here by being the only one who doesn’t know his partner well.

The Hot Chip clues got pretty specific. I mean, not many people know of Hot Chip so they wouldn't get it regardless, but if you do know a bit about Hot Chip, those clues are all you should need so long as you're paying attention.

it reminds me of this guy I used to work with early 2000s time who was having a mid-life crisis and kept saying 'the White Stripes' multiple times at the top of his voice, in the pub. He'd bought their album too. All the other bands he'd have known would have been like the Beatles and the Stones and T'Pau etc., too.
As someone on the spectrum, this resonates with me. Marks frustration is how I feel in a group, trying to interpret the meaning in neurotypical conversations.😂
