I almost screamed in the theater, I was so happy, but I didn't want to scare the people next to me. Btw, I think they came in not being familiar with the Broadway show and were just curious. They were laughing throughout the movie and after it was over, one girl said "That was actually good!"

@@AlexeBriand2002 No, technically speaking the OG line was just "I'm a mouse, duh" which then then changed to "I'm a sexy mouse" in the stage musical before reinstating the "duh" here, so I see this as a lyric change that happens to reference the original :)
Damn , I really wish they would have used the broadway instrumental instead of changing it. But I’m glad that people are finally seeing how amazing , Avantika’s version is.
Agreed literally the only reason I don’t like the movie is that is that it isn’t as pumpy as the broadway

Avantika killed it in the whole movie but especially this scene. Even though the Broadway instrumentals are better, I think Sexy works with the edm twist in the dance break. I wish the rest of the song had more powerful instrumentals though, but that’s a problem with the entire movie.

HOLY CRAP Kyle's choreography looks so good with the Broadway instrumental section! This video shows how well this song specifically was adapted.

that’s actually my least favorite line change. the original line points out the issues with neoliberal feminism “promoting” that woman should work harder in more difficult positions whilst adhering to more difficult standards. i think this is considered one of the lowkey super important insights that most of them don’t realize. the new line is more like “oh look i’m hot and i can run the world” which negates the whole idea of the song being these standards of hotness that karen is forced to be yearly. she enjoys halloween because it’s the one day that the hotness is not dehumanizing but connected to what she wants. is you read the whole thing my bad for the feminist rant🫡

I love this song and both of these versions!! Avantikas is more poppy or like smooth, bc yk, auto tune. But Kates is so raw and they both play the character beautifully

They’re both amazing but I think the film version is better Karen + Damien are my favourite characters in the film
They both did a great job in the role for the each adaptation, when adapting from a movie to a live Broadway show to then adapting both into a movie musical, things are naturally going to change in some ways. At least for this sequence both were good in their own mediums.
1:21 There's Regina's boob-hole shirt cameo (that sounds so weird, but those who have seen the original movie know what I'm talking about)
Very surreal how this is my least favorite song from the Broadway version, but it ends up being one of my favorites from the movie because the staging and arrangement of almost every other good number are butchered, while this is somewhat improved. They still left the random ass feminism line in, but hey, you can't get always get what you want.
I love the change to a more EDM feel, the original was TOO Broadway lol, idk how to explain it, but still fun when I’m in the mood, but I am OBSESSED with the new one! I hate when tv randomly mentions/forces in feminism and stuff, but I do love the way Avantika pronounces it, so I still like it regardless

to be honest i dont like the broadway one, karen just fills stupidly not even funny, stressfull. Nobody like amanda's karen but between this two Avantika wins enormously, she gives hottness and innocence at the same time.
I hate that they changed Karen's race. She's supposed to be a dumb blonde because it's a stereotype. Making her diverse gets rid of that trope. They should have made Gretchen diverse. That wouldn't have mattered.

i think people need to cut it some slack. using the musical instrumentals obviously would have been amazing but then it wouldnt be unique. i love how avantika sung it with different inflections at different parts. both songs stand alone as amazing in their own right instead of being a carbon copy ❤️

The videos was just an added visual I placed to the make it more appealing to viewers, I legit could've just placed a photo if i wanted too, but decided to do this instead. I originally was going to do the full screen side by side instead of cropping both videos, i just did this to fill the screen tbh, and thought it turned out okay

The movie one flowed and hit better for me but I saw the on stage version first.
I honestly like broadway more, Avantika's version is okay. But I prefer broadway. It feels more alive and fun! And avantika's sounds a bit auto tuned imo. (Don't hate on my comment, it's annoying.)
