He is not underrated. The entertainment industry is fickle, not loyal to the music. With new people coming into the business, it has the "responsibility" to promote, but often way too many and unnecessarily. Gary remains one of the Best! Always!!

Miaotianzi Jin Unfortunately, some overseas ex.Malaysian Chinese like me(or perhaps your Singaporean friend) who has migrated to overseas for a more than 10-15 years would have lost touch with the Asian culture or music. Hence, even Gary or JJ (or even Fish Leong梁静茹) who debuted and has become famous around 5-10 years old, we would not have known them well as we would have been exposed to more Western music. We occasionally heard of them thru our friends when we go back to Malaysia for holiday, but would not have known them well. But glad that they are doing well in overseas now. Proud of them. Especially Malaysian Chinese, we are(were) always under racial discrimination by the stupid Malay dominated and corrupted government(BN), we could not excel in our own country but in others.
He is a talented singer. I'm sure u guys knows Stephane sun? She is Singaporean singer. She is C-pop queen. She is in a very high position. There are a lot of Chinese singer and C-pop been neglected. Show Luo, Jolin Cai, Rainie Yang, Wang Li Hom... Etc
How is Gary Chaw not a Dato' in Malaysia is puzzling beyond me. His achievements is one of the best in the musical arena and he is one of the most successful singer in Asia
I really enjoy songwriters sing their own song, a world of differences, I can hear real talent instead of suffring through shouting and crazy exaggeratings
I have to admit I'm not very fond of him at all, but his rendition of 'Saving All My Love for You' is probably one of the best one especially one sung by a Chinese singer. I get very picky when Chinese singer sings English songs, and they don't really get the pronunciation right. He did great not just the pronunciation but the singing too. I'm very surprised that he even chose this songs. That was an excellent performance.
+holohulolo I agree with you. Normally I can't stand some Chinese singer who tries to sing English songs because of their pronunciation. Whereas for him, he sang it extremely well!

I think Gary started his career at Taiwan, and the same goes for JJ Lin. My college roommate came from Singapore but he never heard of JJ Lin.

+許文一 是啊音樂表逹的很好唱功一流.只是情緒表逹太過了吧!我很醜其實心裏不承認,一般是做這個表逹吧!曹表逹的好像是說"對我很醜我真醜到自憐自哀"一開始就太哀怨了!到後來的表現就是"是的我內心強大,我很温柔,我有音樂和啤酒"雖然音樂表逹的很堅強的感覺也很好,但聽覺上反變成"醜男卻自我感覺良好",,我是覺的情緒安排上有點讓人覺得沒有原唱那種向上的建康心態吧!
