Hello. I've watched the videos on your channel. Your video is excellent, but it won't go viral. Have a look at your channel. But why? Think about it. Your channel won't go, , and you won't gain many subscribers or views. The reason is: 1. Your video isn't being SEO properly. SEO Score: 0 out of 100.2. Your video isn't reaching the right people. 3. Not using video hashtags properly 4. Not sharing the video on social media sites.5. There are not enough ranking tags.6. Video performance: 0 out of 50 ]7. Not a single tag, description, or title is optimized for search engine optimization. I have a lot planned for your channel. There are a few more reasons why your videos are limited to your channel

Nice video of the bridge's history. I love the idea of the guard for the last train rounding up people from the hotel bar. I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on a plaque by the old station building in Ballachulish) that the final evening service to Ballachulish on Saturday evenings was normally aligned with the last showing at the cinema in Oban. I often wonder if this line had been saved, could it have made a profitable tourist attraction (with a suitable steam train and era coaches).

Thanks for your comment. My 1959 BR timetable shows a Saturdays-only train from Oban to Ballachulish at 20.50, which waited at Connel Ferry for 12 minutes. On weekdays the 17.10 from Oban was the last train, no doubt full of school pupils, and on Saturdays this retruned from Ballachulish in order to form the 20.50 departure. No doubt it was operated by Ballachulish-based train crew and the 12 minutes shown for reversal at Connel Ferry may well have been a bit "flexible" if the guard knew the passengers personally!
I think the line was doomed because the 1960s road lobby had their eyes on the bridges at Connel and over Loch Creran

@Clivestravelandtrains thanks for commenting back and all the additional information. So I guess the question now is, did the last showing in the cinema end at approx 20.45 haha. Next time I go up to Glencoe (I usually go up a couple of times a year) I'll see if I can find this plaque and report back if I'm remembering it correctly.
      P.S. liked and subscribed :-)

@@orion1983uk The site of Ballachulish Glencoe station is now occupied by Chisholm's garage, although there may be an information plaque there like the one at Benderloch shown in my film. I'll have a look next time I'm in Ballachulish. There was another station called Ballachulish Ferry behind the hotel, Grid ref NM 053 594 if you use Ordnance Survey. (I have a 1956 OS map of that area - sheet 46 - which I got at Oxfam!)

This bridge shortened the road distance from Oban to Fort William after the railway closed.

Thanks for your comment. The same applies to the bridge over Loch Crerran.

Scotrail really need to replace those class 156 units on the West Highland line.

Thanks for your comment. They have been around for a while and are still good work-horses for ScotRail. The large windows give good views of the scenery. Internal refurbishment was carried out a few years ago, with new disabled-friendly toilets and upgraded seating and PA system. I'm not aware of any imminent replacement plan.
