This is why they're my favorite band every new album is different than the last one. They aren't afraid to try new things. But haters are gonna hate. Tillian is killing it right now he is great with this band. Yes, Jonny was also amazing with DGD but he couldn't handle his personal problems and its really hard to tour with a drug addict.

I am so thankful DGD keeps making music. It's these guys that got me into this kind of music and I'm so grateful for that. Ever since I listened to Downtown Battle Mountain 6-7 years ago, it has been my all time fav album. I've been obsessed with that album and everything else they've put out since. Listening to this now just brings me joy that DGD has never quit despite all the band member changes, and I'm especially grateful for Will Swan and Matt Mingus for staying the whole time to keep DGD, DGD. Also Jon Mess as well for staying for almost the whole time. Please continue making music for as long as you can, there's people out here who appreciate it more than you know.

I think this video goes deeper than many people are realizing. With the video highlighting the robots in Tilian's parts and the Animals in Mess' parts, the album art of the robots and animals fighting shows the divide between the older DGD fans and some of the new ones. Then, later, as the second half of the song rolls in, the animals and robots are highlighted over Tilian's singing, signifying this album will be an album for every type of DGD fan. Or maybe I'm over-analyzing. I do remember Feerick saying somewhere that this album will have a DBM2/Acceptance Speech vibe.

I loved Tilian in Tides Of Man. I love Tilian as Tilian. I love Tilian in DGD. I love all of DGD. Johnny is never coming back, there's obviously a reason Matt is not in the band, Kurt found his home in ALLB, so now they have Tilian. (I'm butt-hurt people don't seem to like him.)

LIJ4Productions That's a good assumption, they could also have had some of these songs in the works since they were working on AS. Albums usually end up being comprised of songs that were chosen from a huge bundle of demos. Enter Shikari's latest album had about 50 demos it was cut from, Periphery had 40 demos to choose from. DGD could have the same situation and just have finally gotten a place to use those demos on

The main problem I had with Acceptance Speech was that Tilian's highs were almost unnaturally high; not necessarily bad, but a little more difficult to listen to on a regular basis than Kurt or Jonny. His change here towards his older Tides of Man-ish style is exactly what I was hoping for, and I am unnaturally excited to hear the rest of this album.
Also fyi Tilians voice was produced by Kris Crummet on the Tides of Man albums and by Matt Mallpase on Acceptance Speech. On Instant Gratification they went back to Kris Crummet. Producers do make a big impact as you can hear.

completely agreed. Loved the tides of man vocals. His vocals on AS were so over produced and processed forcing me to abandon that album. This sounds much better. Still have a place in my heart for all of the Kurt Travis material.

Man, every album is always so different than anything they've done before, and is always orchestrated so well musically. So fresh. This is why DGD is one of my favorite bands, and I'm always looking forward to what they have up their sleeve next.

Those backing vocals in the chorus are ace. Tilians parts are a bit soft but they'll grow on me. The overall sound is sweet.
Jon Mess' screams sound so raw now! He sounds so good. I always have liked tilian.. I think he's a great fit for the band. They seem so complete now since he stepped in.

Im so proud of Tilian! He has improved so much from the last album. It seems that he really listened to the criticisms from the last album and fixed most of them without losing his style. Even though this song isn't as innovative as their old stuff, its still fun. Excited to hear more.

I like Kurt, Tillian, and Jonny, but I feel like Tillian just works with this band better. Idk about you guys, but I get more of a sense of passion and meaning in their words a bit more with Tillian.

DGD has always kind of set itself apart from other screamo (Shit, if you can call them that.) due to the clearly-defined pentameter, Will Swan, the screaming that still sticks to the tune, the cleans that don't get over mixed so they don't sound jarring next to everything else, Will Swan, the way that one song can change tempo multiple times and Will Swan.
I kinda wish Rise would knock off shoving ads at the end of videos though. I came here to listen to a new release, not hear samples off of other artists, I'll click them if I want to.

You have to admit though Tilians vocals have improved so much from AS. I think something may have happened to him vocally to where he can't rip them out like he used to in Tides of Man.

When the lyrics can be perceived and interpreted in different ways, then they're a lot more like art.

Apart from the actual music, DGD has had the most success in making good/continuous style album covers. Wouldn't mind a DGD sleeve with their art work. It's just so different but always the same concept. I love it.

Even though I like Happiness / other older albums, this is still pretty goddamn unique compared to everything else on Rise. DGD is one of those bands that if you hate one of their songs and listen to it enough you'll fall in love with it anyways
I'm looking forward to this. I love some of their songs and don't care for others. On The Run is now randomly on the top of my love list. Many other songs have already fallen off the top. Can't wait to see what other ones show up there.

I was hooking up with a girl I met online and we were getting drunk like 2nd or 3rd time we metup. since I had roommates she didn't wanna have sex without background noise so I was like put something on my laptop. She played "Instant Gratification" on TH-cam.. Dude. wow. When we were all done she went to the bathroom and I started my hunt for this song lol. I kept asking her what song it was and she was like tell me a myriad and all I could remember was little cartoon dudes with spears and she was like "it's On the Run" Lov ed them ever since. me and that girl ended up falling in love and moving in together and had a cool few years. saw DGD 2 times and each was badass. I have some of the best memories in my life tied to this album sir it will always be super special to me. Thanks for reading my depression fueled rant internet stranger.

I just all around love DGD I got into them about4 years ago, so at this point both Johnny & Kurt had been in the band, now I didn't know because until I started following the band, even then I loved the music on both Downtown BattleMountain, & Happiness. The singers didn't change much for me. Then when acceptance speech came the trend continued. I'm loving the new singles so far.
They grew up. Their newer stuff is sooo much better than their previous stuff. That's my opinion.

Hell, I can hear the bass twice as prominently as the guitar.
I can hear the keys from the keyboardist they don't have more prominently than the guitar.
Producers, do your job and mix it so we can hear all the instruments, please.

I feel you… but again I feel like every track on this album is going to be pretty diverse. Also, the mix for vinyl is pretty different so I never found you're problem on Acceptance Speech.
To be fair, you couldn't hear the bass most of the time in each album leading up to this one. But I also agree, guitars are pretty noticeable.
Maybe it's just my speakers and the fact that I was expecting the same issue AS had. I'll try again on other speakers.

These guys never disappoint me with jams new & old. I love how they keep the same vibe, but manage to make every album different from adapting new singers to stylize their songs to whatever pace they feel gives the best grove from slow to erratic. Idk why some always find a reason to complain about something they feel these guys should do differently to suit their tastes, but obviously whatever these guys do it obviously sticks anybody who actually follows what this band does knows how dedicated the fan base is & the bands that Will manages under his label as well as other bands with the same love of making music are all a bunch of cool dudes who are really good friends that make this type of music the type of experience you just have to feel to get & not just expect the usual norm. Most people complain about their singer preference for this band usually. Personally I love every singer these guys have ever had, but I could honestly give less of a shit who the singer is or who anyone thinks is the best singer for this band because Dance Gavin Dance to me at least is depicted as this crazy never ending party in this room where this band is just jamming different things with people just jumping in & out of the crowd to play or sing, but are all grooving on the same vibe which explains why every album is so similar yet different and also explains that nonsensical lyrical approach it's free style at the mic while the band jams along to what they feel fits. It's a neat little journey you should try it.
