This is one of those songs that gives me a knot in my throat and a visceral melancholy feeling. It reminds me of how insane this life is. How short, how beautiful. I hope I can ride it out as long as possible. Thanks for this song.

this reminded me of my insignificance in the universe which comforts me. it also reminded me of angels and how this is a means for communication with them.
also. it doesnt matter what i write in here but
i am so full of regret and i am sorry and i cant go back

Communication with angels. The best music often is, with angels, from angels. I think they would say yes youre insignificant on the scale of the universe, but our communication with you matters the whole universe to us

Interesting fact: Lubomyr Melnyk is the fastest pianist in the world playing 19.5 notes a second!
This has been the soundtrack to my running throughout the pandemic.

This beautiul composition pairs up quite nicely with HBO's excellent series Mare Of Eastown indeed.
The flat 5th (also known as the devil's interval) employed so effectively by Lubomyr Melnyk, defines and releases its ethereal nature.
No small wonder that everyone from Franz Liszt, to Leonard Bernstein, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Page, etc., realized the powerful and haunting magnitude of that sound, and used it for maximum impact as well.
    Kick ass tune for sure!

Lofty, moving, transcendent and eerily beautiful are just a few descriptions I have for this wonderful piece that lifts you up and transports you to a landscape of dreams. Thank you Mare of Easttown for this piece of musical heaven.

what's the ticking in the background? is that deliberate, instrument noise, bad audio, or what? it really kind ruins the flow and beauty of the song, difficult to ignore.

It's the hammers of the piano hitting the chords, recorded by the mics. I think it gives an "imperfect", grounded-into-reality sound, that translates just into something true and reliable. Taking the beauty and the quirks of life altogether, rather than filtering them out in a false picture of what is and is not. It actually stays true with the intents of this album.
