I purchased a 550 which says 3 modes, high, low, and flash. However, no instructions, so I will provide basics. To operate, click on switch for bright light. For lower lumens turn off light and quickly turn back on again. For flasher, click light off and quickly click back on a 3rd time. If you power off the dim light and wait too long to power back on, the light will revert to bright mode. So if you wish a dim light or flasher light, power on and off and then power on quickly. You'll get the hang of it. When inserting the batteries, never touch the battery contact services. The oils and acids will eventually corrode the contacts. cheers
I was really impressed with Ozark Trail. But the three expensive lights I bought over time have gone to shit. My 800 Lumen and my 600 lumen both flicker terribly and you have to knock them on the head or beat them on something to get them to work and then they only work for a couple of minutes before they start flickering again. I'm a coast guy now
They run on 4 AAA's got high/low flashing SOS they get warm if you burn on high for awhile but if you switch to low beam it cools off they can't well complain. I'd rather have these without having the 700 or 1250 lumens for reasons. I had 700 lumens and a 650 lumen the batteries got hot swelled up in casing and hung in them, perfectly nice flashlight ruined only defect I do not like about those other brands, love the brighter lumens but if left on for awhile constantly can't feel the heat in the casing and they hang the batteries an one seems to faulty it an intends to swell hanging it but if they made the spring attachments like they do this one it would make a whole new difference or a metal slide cover around the casing on outside would be helpful.
No this one "3aa" will not take a single 18650 however the smaller version of this flashlight "3aaa" will if you use flat top 18650 batteries. It's a tight fit but it works and deffintly makes it brighter.

This flashlight has a led for light out put hens led light emitting diode in mine 450 lum tested with light tester actually 30. 000 lum made better than the atomic beam in them lines with cheep glue and plastic ring this flashlight lines held in by the screw on head to got 4 for $28.75 ozark trail in house Walmart brand yes recommended 450 lum vertion aka 30.000 lum ps ac Delco battery's better than Duracell I've tested in flashlight

Most Cree LED’s have that almost square beam when focused so a round beam is different.
