2025?
2026?
2027?
2028?
Always about 2 years out 🥴
No sooner than 5 years.
Let's use their favourite phrase these days in response to the "when" question ... "after 1.0." LOL ... deceptive marketing again. They have a knack for making future deliverables sound imminent but, "after 1.0" could be from one day to 100 years or more.
@altostratus9342 That is at least 5 years out, too. And based on what they have been saying since Citizen Con, I'm being optimistic.
I love they are moving away from MasterMode... only good thing about it was the name... so... the Operator Mode isn't as good but most important is how it fly in game... beacause now it's catastrophe... I don't play anymore... didn't even spend a single $ during IAE because of this... either fix the fly model or it's over... only problem is... if they want to balance game with crafting we are in big trouble...
Kicking the can down the road is all thats happening here
Is it just me, or does this look like one of the most uncomfortable conversations they've ever had to have on video?
The fact that they still don't understand how humility works is a bit of a tough pill to swallow. They can't even own their mistakes like adults. And they tried to make it look like this was their decision after telling us for months that we all liked master modes and it wasn't going anywhere. I want to think they've learned from their mistakes, after seeing this, but the vibe I got out of this video suggests they really haven't when all's said and done.
Nah check out the video of Sean Tracy back peddling and trying to gaslight people over TOW two years after telling the world about how it would be available in a couple of months. Though this is pretty standard for them screw up royally then put up some poor mug to try to "explain" it away. Has been happening for years, well when they are not hiding under a rock hoping it will all go away if they stay silent long enough.
Well they laid off a whole bunch of people at the same time this was filmed. They where probably told to read their lines as written or head out the door.
CIG development is like a bunch of eunuchs trying to make their child emperor Chris happy
CIG can pretend to have all the plans they want, but they're desperately trying to frame this as 'always the plan to evolve master modes to something it's not now' to mask the fact they still have no idea if their latest change in year 13 of development is what they actually want. They're still just throwing spaghetti at the implementation wall, all the while reducing scope on sold features like the NPC AI that were marketed as 'always available' where players could take over an NPC to team up with a friend.
-Why is MM so bad right now?
-Because of crafting...
🙄
Honestly, the Mistake Modes feels like one of those ideas that come from the top who have no idea what they're doing and the next level has to make it work.
Elite Dangerous has engineering that works like this. A gigantic grind for upgrades and they're practically mandatory if you want to PvP. ED has solo servers so it's kind of working there but in SC? Good luck retaining new players who have to overcome that grind in an uphill battle against technically and mechanically superior bored veterans for who the penalties mean nothing.
Lots of ex ED devs now at CIG.
This all sounds good - IF the game was a PvE coop game. In fact it sounds like fun with crafting and progression and so on. But as soon as you throw PvP in the mix you are back where Elite was, where the only people that stood a chance in PvP where those flying fully engineered PvP specced ships. Nobody else stood a chance. Increasing speed with crafting is a recipe for a PvP slaughterfest for anyone that hasn't gone through the required grind yet, as speed is such a dominant factor in combat.
Terrible idea, either the devs have to admit they can't make a PvP game, and make PvP 100% optional, or they actually need to understand how PvP works.
SOOO frigging much this. It sounds like "We're going to make nimble, light fighters dominate everything again ---- AAAAND make it so that crafting and grinding is critical to have a chance in PvP. OH, ALSO we're going to lock crafting to org-controlled areas that likely WONT sell those materials. Let's alienate ALMOST all our players!!"
Theyre gonna end up killing this game if they're not careful.
@@NegativeProcess killing the game may be the exit strategy.
Voting with your wallets work! Being unburdened from MM would be a good day for SC
“We try to fulfill Chris’ visions” shows the whole problem. “Try” is the main problem.
Chris vision is strabismus affected! 😂
I blame Chris, because I'm sure the majority of these problems are caused by him.
@@drk3309 mostly Chris is the problem
As soon as I find some time, I go through all the old „Around the Verses“ and put together all those parts where people said „we were practically finish and wanted to implement this feature when Chris stopped by and wanted it all different. So we started all over again.“
@@drk3309 No! Try not. Do, or do not, there is no try.
This new plan is as daft as the old one. But the process of implementing it will give them another 12-18 months before it’s evident to everyone that it doesn’t work.
And that's the problem, release something, abandon it, do something new, abandon it, rinse and repeat
The google development cycle has officially spread to gaming
Hiding the fact SM doesnt do squat for server performance behind another flight model rework.
Theyll play the we are iterating fiddle till eventually even the blindest sheep will start to see.
That's why it is important to stay critical of CIG. They do listen, they just need a few years to understand.
That's what scares me lol
How many more years do they need to get a fun flight model?
@@mariopenulli1395 Apparently 13 years isn't even enough. Maybe in another 13 years they will have figured it out but, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Chris run out of excuses why things are getting delayed … and he run out of hype expectations he could raise to motivate backers to open the wallets.
This year‘s citcon was the worst regarding hype generation: not just a nice ship, not some nice building … no We got presented the Vision of being able to build a Death Star as a port for an own bengal carrier!
This is INSANE and the best signal that the whole concept of presenting unfulfillable visions has finally come to an end!
The day Sandy cant afford that new watch is the day things will change, not before.
One of the worst thing and biggest complaint of MasterModes was having to turn off your shields to run away. So CIG double downs and says dont worry PVPers you can now keep up and keep shooting at the ships running away from you while they turn off their defenses.
This is idiotic and brain dead....
IN other news, John Pritchett joined up with Egosoft for a flight model update in X4 for 2025. It's not multiplayer, but eager to see where they go with him.
This gane cannot be completed as long as Chris is involved. That's clear. I wish he would move on to a new project and get a real game finishing producer.
12:20 he said it, they don't care what players want, they develop for themselves, but don't even play it.
And what is an industrial player like me supposed to do with these choices? What options will players like me have? Can i use modules to prevent me from being interdicted? How about something to negate dampeners. Or am i stuck with being content for pvp/griefers.
We are the content for the new target audience that cig cannot provide.
Just uninstall, sit back , and wait for it all to crumble into nothingness May 2025.
@heru_ur6017 yeah. It's hard to but i know that would be less frustrating. Been backing sine 2014 I think. Been a while. Spent enough money to be sure. Just frustrating to see it going this way when it does not have to. This could easily be a game for everyone but cig only seems to be interested in combat and forcing us to create our own content. It seems cr ego is as bad as some other pvper/griefers regarding their view that their way of play is the only way and pvp/griefing somehow makes for a better game. It may for some and to those I am happy. Give them their own server i say. I don't care at all what they do to each other. But for others it makes us play something else. This is truly not the game I backed all those years ago and not for the better for players like me.
The best flight model that existed throughout SC's development so far ... was in 2.16.3 - it all started going downhill when 3.0 dropped
Jared just looks dead inside at this point
The face of a person who realizes that he has tried to sold this bullshit too many times. He is exhausted and has to stand in the front line being the most known face after CR.
The price you pay for selling your soul
CIG: Still making it up as they go, even after 13 years. Also CIG: let's copy EVE's crafting of high-end components.
Just 10 more decades and another 5b Dollars guys. We're basically done. BTW space X falcon 9 project was about 300m. 🤣😂
This is what I just can't justify. People are getting ready to send actual rockets into space for a fraction of the price and god king roberts' team can't even get jpeg ships to work in a video game.
Yep, how much more Time and Money. LOTS
Just make the game NEWTONIAN PHYSICS (in space) and VTOL THRUST BECOMES LIFT (in atmo) and quit f***ing around with all sorts of Whims of Chris.
:)
NEWTONIAN PHYSICS DO NOT CONFORM TO GRAVITY GENERATOR PHYSICS (plus magneto-sphere inertial dampers), AND QUANTUM DRIVE / BOOST PHYSICS.
:)
This ! That's the only way.
@@MikePhilbin1966 I think cig dug a very deep hole which prevents them from effectively doing this by letting art department design ships. Some ships are simply unsuitable for the spaceflight they are forced into. Like try to make sense of drake herald which is so ridiculously unbalanced even with its forward thrust. In no way that ship would me manageable in newtonian space or in atmo. It would just spin and drift like crazy. They already said they have to add invisible thrusters on ships to make them fly properly. And making contradicting visual and actual thrust powers on all ships (especially for hover/vtol).
Considering only 1 or 2 ships have properly placed Vtol thrusters and the rest would just spin in circles, no, you don't want anything close to realism in terms of Vtol, and combat to lol
Making 1's and 0's do that is hard part.
@13:57 this basically reveals why it's all going wrong. I wonder what Richard Tyrer's "post Star Citizen" interviews will be like in a few months/years time....!!
I have nothing against him as a person, but he really needs to be removed based on the piss poor decisions he's made since shuffling his way into his current position. Being a lead does not suit his abilities
After SC they all will get a new identity and hide in South America.
April/May 2025 , after investors call in their loans.
9:50 It's funny that at this timestamp they say they want us to quantum boost to reach speeds close to the current NAV mode speeds .. so all that tech to do "quantum magic" and in the case of say a Hornet MK 2 (1150MS) you're barely going faster than a Mig-31 developed in 1970's using regular kerosine ? lol ?
I just hear 2 new excuses why flight still isn't ready. But do think the move away from markers to just point and jump is much better. Would disagree with you about crafting, its like a stock car vs one that you would actually race. Its more about how much extra performance is to be gain from crafting, that could be very problematic. CIG need a flight model by SQ42 so 2026 (LOL if you believe) they will have to have something very soon. My guess all the changes are for SQ42 not SC.
4:30 WTF? They want you to spend more time doing the mission than flying there but they have just nerfed fuel tanks and now nearly all small ships need to refuel just to fly across the system! Consider what it takes to join a friend for a mission in SC versus any other multiplayer game.
Well I'm glad you're optimistic, personally what I hear is "it's Elite's ship engineering upgrade system except ten times more annoying and even more required just to play the game". And having guns but no shields available means jack shit to all those intentionally underarmed profession ships that don't get a fight option, only flee and probably would have preferred a choice to lose their guns but keep their shields at high speed.
Like the vehicle survey. They are removing the term master modes without removing the crap.
~12 years in development and they still can't decide on a flight model.
The ONE thing that actually matters... U____U;
"It was always the plan..."
I don't know which is more amazing to me after so many years: that CIG just keeps fielding this baloney, or that there are backers that keep believing it.
Chris Roberts at Gamescon 2015 to a very small group of backers (I was one of them): „the now introduced reporting system which you see on the webpage is exactly the same which I use. You get exactly the same information about development process as I get. The most transparent reporting possible“. Since that moment I have always laugh very hard when they announce the next „even more transparent reporting system for development process“ and know that CR is living that deep in his own visions that he actually believes the sht he tells to people regardless how ridiculous this is.
6:56 see, they intend to bring the worst part of of MM into operator mode. The incompetence is mind-blowing.
We had an decent flight model before MM and they changed it because CR had a vision to bring single player mechanics from SQ42. Crafting and quantum boost is supposed to fix MM? Renaming to "operator mode". This all sounds like they are desperately trying everything to polish a turd that is MM.
It behooves CIG to maintain "alpha" status because for many paying customers it grants them a lot of credit which they no longer actually deserve. It is my belief that they want to maintain alpha status as long as they possibly can because they know that potential is what makes them most of their money, and a formal release instantly disintegrates that advantage.
Will people eventually realize that the "slow" flight model introduced with master modes is a deliberate design choice by CIG to accommodate the limitations of their server technology? Even server meshing won't resolve these issues and they know it, leaving CIG with a decision: either endure a rubberbanding nightmare or settle for a slower, less dynamic flight model. Their engine just cannot deliver on all the promises they made. They won't admit it of course, but that is the reality behind this master mode issue and many others.
Do you think slower could be made sufficiently interesting and competitive through well designed mechanics? There are games where you have to juggle multiple variables and outplay opponents through strategy and game sense, that are still engaging even when they are "slower". CIG has no history of innovative and interesting game design mechanics and put almost all of their ganeplay chips into glamorous spectacles with wow factor, but if they put time into game mechanics instead, it might be possible....?
@@scienz0220 A skilled game designer could make the slower flight model engaging by focusing on strategic gameplay. Unfortunately, CIG's track record with game design suggests that's unlikely to happen. Take the "radar gameplay," for example. It's no more advanced than the radar mechanics in an Atari game from the '80s, despite being a feature that should be central to any realistic space combat game.
It has nothing to do with the servers. We still get desync while doing FPS.
@@Roboticus_Prime_RC Yes because they can't slow mo the fps gameplay. The engine and the servers simply can't accomodate fast gameplay. FPS is very demanding in server responsiveness, because every lag or inaccuracy is immediately felt and very visible to players
You mean the very slow speeds of the enemy fighters during the „turret gameplay simulator“ at citcon were because of this?
If you missed selling your fleet for Store Credits this IAE, just have to try again during Fleet Week or next years IAE
How about having quantum markers for everything and just have a filter list of what we want to see? Regardless, we should have this in the map anyway. Planets, OM's, Distribution Centers, Landing Zones (NOT THE CENTER OF THE CITY!), Orbital Stations, etc etc.
It would be smart to do elite style nav target with filters.
Get rid of MM. Level 2 Concierge here and I won’t spend a dime more until flight model is fixed.
At this point, I think they just blame Chris as an excuse.
Also, where is yogi?
With how muck flak that MundaneModes received and Yogi seemingly being a figurehead who spearheaded every discussion on CIGs side about it since then, I wouldn't be surprised if they want to take him out of the line of fire for a while.
Hopefully he is part of the latest round of layoffs happening.
Good thing they brought Mr. Speculation for this interview so at least this way I can plan accordingly ya know 😂
3 things: 1- Coming from Elite Dangerous, I for one am really concerned about the "Crafting" aspect of this plan. It sounds a whole lot like the Engineering grind that really sucked in ED. 2- We dont need extra modes. It still sounds like they are over engineering problems that don't actually exist. 3- Multiplayer crewing will never be a thing until SC has game content on the level of "dungeons and raids." Otherwise, there is no real reason for players to team up.
I see their lips moving, but all I hear is blah.. blah.. blah.. bullsh!t.. blah.. blah.. blah..
Blah.. buy ships .. blah. Lol
@@user-yc6sc4kt4v 🤣
They had to change the name to Operator Mode (OM) from Master Mode (MM) because internally they already had something going by the acronym MM (More Marketing.) It was just too confusing when you had people talking about MM you didn't know if they meant the best flight model possible when all your devs have little to no experience or if they meant the only actual solution for every problem CIG has.
Now that they have given them separate acronyms, we can easily say that this MM video discusses fictional future changes to OM and everyone will understand what we mean.
Personally I am very excited for this change. This means we can finally have MM discussions about OM instead of avoiding the topic completely. Now that OM exists in the MM realm, the devs can talk about the flight model in Marketing terms like "would like to" and "want to" which allows them to unleash their creative urges, completely unfettered by the reality of working at a company that sells ships with magic beams and screenshot opportunities.
I quit the game due to mm and im a legatus. They broke the game.
I'm wondering what sales will be this year, up or down? This may be CIG's we FAFO year...
Down 12 % YoY
Oh CIG, can you hire some pilots. 1000 m/s is equivalent to 2200 mph. The damn SR-71 could fly nearly that fast at high altitude, but still in atmosphere. Nothing they are doing has the least bit of verisimilitude. It's like Boeing selling an F-18 to someone, but with some user created parts it can make it go faster and turn better. This isn't a fantasy world with magic, and it needs to be treated as such. All ships should have relatively fixed flight characteristics. All of this could be managed through a power system like 1991's X-Wing. If you have max power to engine, then you can go max speed at the cost of shields and weapons, if you have max weapons, you aren't going to be able to fly as fast, etc. Simple damn sh***. I completely agree with no putting the best components behind crafting. That's just a recipe for players with much more time on their hands facerolling the casual gamer.
13:03 That's a giant load of bollocks. They can't make fast combat work in their current spaghetti code, which is why we have Master Modes in the first place.
I feel like CIG is just trying to confuse us with their nonsense.
It's not even a flight model, a flight model would be what you call a specific ship/plane's behavior. For example, in DCS, War Thunder etc. a F-14 has it's own Flight Model that isn't related to that of a Mig29.
Master Mode, Operator Mode etc. are just Modes / Systems / Nonsense.
If CIG made a normal car with Manual gearbox, it would have: Reverse Mode, Crawl Mode, Maneuver Mode, Urban Mode, Sub Urban Mode and Highway/Autobahn Mode... instead of Gears.
The Whole Tier X system is absurd to me for a game that heavily cashes in on ships.
There's no value in a real money combat ship, if I have to waste months upgrading it to Tier 5 and have to pay whatever other insurance CIG comes up with anyway.
Oh, and then the things also have wear and tear, so I have to keep grinding to maintain said Tier 5 ship.
Sure, you can still go for a ship that earns money by hauling, mining etc. because it doesn't matter how well it flies and you're doomed when targeted in combat anyway, so you might as well rely on LTI to cut costs. But there's no point in upgrading to a Tier 5 Orion that's 50% faster and 50% more maneuverable.
They figured out you can't have 100 keybinds on console, so each "MODE" will center around console shit.
If this gets dumbed down anymore, then it's not a PC centric game as promised.
Remember when he sold the idea of bringing back pc gaming to what it used to be? Yah, the forgot.
That was before he put Sandy in charge of marketing, she saw that consoles is where the money is at, and we all know she likes expensive watches, lots of very very expensive watches. And ol Robber, well he doesnt mind another Mansion or two, and a Yacht to match.
Backers are blinded by dreams and unwilling to open their eyes and see the truth.
I have spent thousands of dollars to fly ships that feel awful to fly not because they are reaching a technical limit but because someone has nerfed it on purpose to sell it back to me as a time sink. What?
That's a CIG specialty. Sell OP ship. Wait for uproar, nerf ship after selling. Or the better one, let purchased ship sit in backlog.
This crafting thing will go as the Engineers in Elite did... People running around with completely ridiculous and fairly invincible loadouts that throw any semblance of balance out of the window.
In Elite that hurt PvP a lot, as most fights were won in the crafting bench. People who didn't have top tier, fully engineered ships just refrained from PvP. And getting one of those could take anyone who didn't live in the game a long, long time and an egregious, fun-sucking grind for materials and resources.
Having weapons, but not shields in Nav mode will take any chance non-combat ships have to disengage from a fight. It'll also greatly favor the running ganking.
It doesn't take the Great Carnac to prognosticate that is exactly what will happen. I still play Star Wars: The Old Republic (it can still be fun, don't judge) but the augments that only available to crafter who have access to high end raid mats turn players who wear them into face-rolling machines over a person with even decent gear.
"when you see how the pieces come together you might not agree with chris's vision"
Buddy you guys already sold and took money for the vision ten years ago. Nobody in their right mind would see all that and think it's ok to change the game so much. "b-but chris's vision..." is _irrelevant._ You can't personally hand write article after article describing a game with realistic newtonian physics and then after 10 years and a billion dollars shift into a garbage arcade model, a turned bases strategy game, 2d platformer, whatever.
It should be the other way around... in high speed Q-Boost mode, you should keep your shields, not the gun.... you're more likely trying to escape danger in GB than you are attacking an enemy.
Mastermode: the Aborted stepchild of Yogi that pestered us for 3 years hated by everyone.
Now, back to the drawing board!🤦♂️
Year 13 and everything is a draft, even the most basic and fundamental building blocks.
Why would they not just doubled down on massive loss of maneuvrability with speed increase beyond me. A missile should always get you if you keep a straight line, and you need to slow down to be able to maneuvre.
Instead, MM galore, instant speed drops at a button click, shileds on and off, missiles creepingly slow unable ti SCM with the average ship...
Good Job to CIG decision makers🤦♂️
Just let us fly fast with our guns out. That’s all we want. Let me shoot two weapon groups at the same time using left and right click.
Chris should never have sent an ultimatum to John Pritchett and instead tried to make something work.
They lost tons of money this years sales have been flat
I'm surprised the "Re Concepted" Pioneer was Hull limited.
They would sell a ton of them, with all its new features.
It's the SC Swiss Knife Ship.
New Citizens are way down, that is where most of the New money comes from.
Interesting times ahead.
So a ship is just your MMO Character that you need to grind gear for to actually PVP. This is just WoW in space iwth "Physics"
Jared's phrasing of the reception of MM still indicates CIG's reluctance to truly acknowledge what players think of it, and his closing statements pretty much sound like, 'This is how it's going to be so eat it'... . But at least it seems that CIG are listening to the sounds of cash registers not going ker-ching so enthusiastically, even if they didn't want to listen to players' comments on MM and UI.
The whole MM concept is overly and unnecessarily complex so if they do something similar to Elite Dangerous that is a step in the right direction, but IMO there should be two modes - normal speeds (including boost) and relativistic speeds (and when QTing the player should be able to control their ship or use a straight-line auto-pilot as they see fit, certainly not restricting the control type to distance to be traveled).
And stop with the no shields in QT mode, as I've said before, Han Solo wouldn't have stood for this nonsense.
Han Solo would've shot first!
Can't wait until tier 1 ship meets a tier 5 ship. 😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉 💀
For me, one of the most satisfying things I can FINALLY say to the White Knights is, "What did you say? 'Master Modes are here to stay'?"
The FM is not where it should be yet, but the fact that CIG is backpedaling gives me hope again that the rest can also be steered in the right direction, without CIG developing AGAINST the players and gaslighting the sh*t out of us.
I hate hearing how they want to craft better ships. This just makes it harder for more casual players to compete against those that have thousands of hours to dedicate. That type of game is fine when you have smaller servers with matched players on that server and other servers for players above or below.
@Power5 Locking the best ships and components behind crafting is such a stupid idea, unless crafting is not too time consuming.
But this is CIG. Only the big Orgs will be able to do this.
Also, this basically means our ships we payed hundreds of dollars for, will be Tier 1 crap.
@@Camural yeah I liked it when SC was skill based. Now it will be like most other games where players with more time can have an advantage
You cannot have a high skill ceiling 6 DOF flight model AND a noob, console friendly, flight model.
So, year 13ish of development and they still haven't finalised a flight model.....Giant red flag there, also won't operator modes need a rework if/when they add control surfaces and other ideas Chris comes up with?
man I just played today for the first time since 3.18 and even with what i know about CIG I am completely shocked, looting is a complete nightmare now, every bug that was there is still there but worse, way more new bugs and every other aspect of the game is convoluted and unintuitive. I have to say the looting changes are a complete game stopper for me, not being able to do the one semi interesting thing in the game makes me never want to play this again
It's bad. I had to stop playing at 3.23.2 because it was just godawful. I haven't even tried EPTU 4.0 because everyone says it is a crash fest. It has been in wave 1 for like 3 weeks.
"master modes is here to stay so deal with it"
Cool looks like they backpedaled on half of what made MM what it is, let me know when they backpedal on the rest.
Is anyone quite certain what the new model will be like? Because I am not.I listened to these 5-10 minutes now a couple of times and all I hear is, we will change stuff but we don't exactly what. I haven't followed the flight model for quite some time, but a good flight model should be explainable in less time with much less words. I feel like someone watching a shell game.
And what is cohesive speed?
That's the entire project. They make it sound like they know what to do but they have no idea. So go buy more pledges and maybe in another 12 years we will figure out the most basic systems of our $750 million dollar game
Less than 1 ship dimension per server tick. So at 25fps (server) thats 250m/s , coincidence ? Nope.
AS IF WE CAN"T HANDLE SLOWING DOWN.... GEEEEEEEEEZE
That makes the friggin game a space game and FUN.... HOLY COW. I can'[t with these guys
jarod had absolutely no clue what they were talking about.😂
Neither did they.
@@Roboticus_Prime_RC 😂
All had only one thing in mind: „how long until this embarrassment of a pseudo talk is finally over and we could all go back to play E:D?“
CIG laid off a bunch of people the same time this was filmed. They where probably told : Read your lines AS WRITTEN or head out the door.
The timing of this! Got a $1000 dollar quote on my account yesterday when this video dropped. However so many people have been selling their accounts they aren't purchasing accounts right now. I was done with this game. Now I'm stuck to see if this sucks worse or not
They are awkwardly annoyingly overthinking this. Making the game harder, grindier and more tedious. Why is everything they talk about doing just making the game harder for the average player, so tedious and grindy, and so much less fun?!
"...some are not so happy [with Master Modes]..." Really? If they stopped locking feedback threads so everyone had a voice, they'd have a better understanding that the dislike for MM goes well beyond "some." At the end of the day though, if they are "...try[ing] to fulfill Chris's visions..." then we are screwed because Chris is Chris and he's not interested in the backer feedback so long as the money keeps rolling in.
Even worse: as long as Chris is in control of this company, the spontaneous overvisionary actionism will destroy this project more and more. „We want to fulfill Chris ideas…“ what a big bullshit! This game is in development for so many years. The „Vision Phase“ should have been finished many years ago… but they are still in „Chris wakes up and has an idea and by noon two project groups work on pink colored Space Chicken with Railguns“ … to be fair: they won’t work immediately on Space Chickens but on very sophisticated tools to enable them to generate even more Space Chickens in a more better graphic and even faster than before
@@19iason19 "...pink colored Space Chicken with Railguns." lol 👍
He has to keep Sandy in the lifestyle for which she is accustomed.
@@19iason19 Exactly. Sadly I can hear them saying it just like that. Well, we are writing our newest tool Star Fowl....
At this point a bet money that no one in cig plays star citizen. I bet a lot of money on this.
13:57 It's all Chris's fault please come back to our game
Shields shouldn’t drop in nav mode. Your shields should be at full in nav mode. Sure transfer all the power from weapons but shields would be needed to protect the ship from small particulates in space to keep them from punching holes through your ship at high speeds.
These clowns get funnier with every video.
Crafting only makes sense for creating new items or ships, but for upgrading, it doesn't make sense. This isn’t a fantasy MMO where you enchant weapons. Crafting upgrades should only be about modifying or strengthening the ship's hull material. But using crafting upgrades to make a ship deal more damage or reduce quantum spool time makes the whole gameplay aspect of swapping components to change a ship's behavior pointless. The same applies to FPS weapons. Crafting new items? Yes. But no to crafting upgrades that change the behavior of ships or FPS weapons. I regret that during the time when I fully supported this project, I didn’t play much when it was still fun. But when I did play, the learning curve was there. I got a little better each time at racing or generally mastering ships. That was back during the 2.x era. SCM, coupled, decoupled, gimballed vs. non-gimballed, it was all easy to understand. During the first Vanduul Mask event in Star Citizen, I equipped my Gladius with the best components to get 50 kills as quickly as possible. It didn’t work, I lost many dogfights to experienced players with low-end gear (e.g., the default ship loadout for the Gladius). The current flight model in Star Citizen, and what they now plan for the future, is incomprehensible to me, there’s no simple logic behind it. The crafting upgrade and gear-based skill progression is heading toward pay-to-win and pay-to-progress. I mean, just look at old dogfighting or racing videos from 2.x or 1.x. Even just watching them was fun back then. When I watch current videos with the new flightmodel, it’s boring, both racing and dogfighting. The current flight model is no fun at all. I hope CIG has the courage to completely throw out the current flight model and return to the flight model from version 2.x or even version 1.x. The flight model or the gameplay in general makes up about 50% of the game, with the rest being things like beautiful graphics, server meshing, countless planets, and so on. However, these things lose their appeal over time. What remains is the gameplay, especially the flight model, which must be really good. Star Citizen stands or falls with its gameplay.
When crafting was introduced in Elite Dangerous in the "Engineers update" it totally ruined the game for me. Luckily it was a bit rebalanced that if you are just minding your own (PVE) business it didn't matter super much to you so you could kind of "skip it" . But for PVP ? Yeah you need to "engineer" the F outta everything to min/max :( So i'm expecting when it's introduced in SC to be just as tedious if not even more so.
They are losing their grip on the game model. It's too much. If you can't discuss the future of the flight model without turning to crafting every 60 seconds you are lost.
The state of Star Citizen is just depressing to me. I had so much hope and saw so much potential until the game kept getting more annoying, slower, expensive and most importantly less and less fun to actually play.
Master modes was just my breaking point where i realized the direction wasnt going towards cool "newtonian space physics" and actually going in completely opposite direction into slow arcade and simplified gear competition. Basically copying elite dangerous but only the bad parts and calling it a day.
@creec.winceptor except ED has a flight model that simulates newtonian physics far closer than SC ever has had, combat speeds are around 550 m/s and its super cruise is what SC needs rather than the stupid point to point jumping it does, SC just needs to copy ED flight system rather than the crap it's had for the last few years
@___Snake___ Yeah, i was not saying ed has bad model. Maybe im actually more worried about sc becoming a very basic system like in No man sky. NMS is amazing story of redemption but i still hate how simple and artificial the flight model in space is. But what SC currently has is pretty much that. Except much slower.
@@creec.winceptor i own both games and love SC but now sadly never play it, but do PVP in ED all the time and it's blast, just can see how both games have strength and weakness over the other, hopefully SC will sort the flight model out ( still think this new mode will not be it ) and release a base game with good solid game loops and then build on that over the next decade
@@___Snake___they need to copy all of ED and just have interiors. But they want a WWII flight sim instead.
Probably gonna be quitting this game when they drop speeds even more which is pretty much what they’re saying, they completely ignored all of what we were complaining about.
just more braindead explanations. These clowns just cannot settle on an idea and fix it. I bet even after 1.0 we are still going to be in the same position concerning MM
5:28 ha, that's like how I described being in the military, 90% hurry up and wait with 10% craziest stuff you'll ever do
Operator Mode just sounds like a worse renamed version of master modes tbh. Still abysmal speeds, and even less true 6DOF flight.
"The one limitation that we are retaining is the fact that you can't have your quantum drive enabled and also your shields." Prediction: if they stick to this arbitrary limitation marketing will give the design team orders to sell new ships that can bypass it.
Just lately I am having a hard time watching devs talk about the game. More often than not they are staring off into space like they're making stuff up on the fly vs talking about anything that is based on previous planning, established directions or things in the works and that is just getting a bit old at this point. Even Jared has a smirk on his face like he is having a hard time believing the 'off the cuff' 'pie in the sky' talk. Even if what Rich Tyrer says has any merit, it'll be years before we see any of what was said and the likelihood that we will, as history proves out, is that we won't. CIG talks a lot. Talk is cheap.
Great changes, i know what your sayng about big orgs and crafting but really the best gear should be earnt that way typically. Good stuff as always G
All they're doing is rebranding and moving away from a keybind to go scm to qboost to qt, into engineering and power management. Youll have to add more power to thrusters, taking away from other systems to gain higher speeds. When you turn on your quantum drive it'll require all power from shields. Womt be a quick switch it'll be a bigger pain in the ass having to move power around. Sure you can have preset power profiles but you have to do that at an engineering terminal. SCM is being rebranded to default speed. Speeds arent changing, they're staying slow. If you want to be faster you're going to have to craft higher tier components. Its all just rebranding and adding engineering and power management to go from scm to quantum boost to quantum travel.
Camural always calling these fools out. Thanks for being a voice of reason to these idiots
9:27 removing the shields is still the dumbest shit ever.
It will become Elite Dangerous 2.0 with all the upgrade BS. Its all because they want to go to consoles! Elite got going in the direction of SC with Space Legs and now its nearly dead, and now SC is going into Elites direction hmm let me guess what will happen ......
I'm ok with MM, I got used to it, but them saying they will change it again to something that sounds even more sketchy is troubling. Also, if you spend 5 days crafting an exotic ship with rare quality materials, if it dies, can you claim it and get the same exotic ship back.
Im more worry about them releasing MM and then abandoning it for more than a year just like MM, like MM could have work with intense tuning and adjusting, but no... Released and abandoned only to be change for Operator Mode?? Like.... really?
At this point, why are they keeping the mode switching? If they're FINALLY taking cues from Elite's systems, why not take inspiration from Elite's power management?
Remove modes entirely and instead, make weapons, shields, engines, and QT combined consume more power than any power plant can produce. Now players can make their own "modes" by simply shuffling power around. Want to pursue a fleeing ship? Full power to weapons and engines, none to shields, minimal to QT. Want to BE the fleeing ship? Full power to engines and QT, whatever's left in shields. No modes required for any of this, just shift power where it's needed for whatever you're trying to do at the moment.
Of course, CIG has no plan and thinks nothing through. They are clearly starting to realize MM was a bad idea, but they're not going to admit it, because CIG also never admits they had a bad idea either. Instead they'll rename it, change it, do that 5 more times, then silently remove it from the game with nothing but one line buried in the patch notes to mark the occasion.
At this point that's fine with me. Whatever CIG needs to do to both eliminate MM and keep their egos undamaged is fine with me. Just get it gone, please.
CIG: We have now found the perfect flight model! You have to craft it your self, in the mean time everything ingame that concerns prices, everything has been buffed! ships, systems, armor, guns...even medpen has gone from 100 to 260 in EPTU. At the same time, we still nerf ships into oblivion, after you have pledged and bought a ship, cause we need you to buy new ships! We also nerf, mission payouts, and also as we do not feel, you the player have enough bugs and time sinks, will implement even more! For you to avoid to have to grind for years, you should just buy crap from the store for real cash, so you can play to win! In the meantime, all of what we are telling you, are just concepts of a plan, and if it becomes reality, we will just half bake it, cause we just dont give a shit, about our player base and community! We just want your money!
I see your point about crafting but I do think that crafting best components is a great idea. We need better and more rewarding time sinks than just grinding for money or rep in the game.
I want the option to change components. Example, if you have 2 shield gens and 2 power plants and 2 coolers...I want to be able to take out 1 cooler and install another shield Gen. The plus is better shields at the cost of poorer cooling.
Although they do not expressly state it you can tell that when they are talking about player behavior and ship flying their mental model is not encompassing multi crewed ships.
These are supposed to be the big vision people and they are stuck in single seater world.
This is going to be annoying if they really lock those kinds of major upgrades behind crafting. Don't really understand the reasoning behind that. Why can't they just let us buy the upgrades from NPCs? Everything they introduce lately seems to come with some extra hoops to jump through. It's getting really tiresome.
If you have access to to 4.0 , go try buy an XL1 .
No Yogi cracks me up. Like, why is the ship designer talking about this?
A1 had a good reaction video to this. It seems like he’s somewhat optimistic about all this except for the crafting part, as pilot skill needs to be a determining factor in a fight, and not if you have a tier 5 gladius vs a tier 2 gladius
Sounds like a generally positive direction to me. I'll refrain from commenting about still changing direction in year 12 of development. The only thing I dislike is the enforced choice between speed or shields. Why don't they just balance this with the power distribution bars and let the player decide how much speed they want vs how much weapon power, vs how much shield power.
Hey Cam! Wasn't the problem with John Pritchett's model that it was too expensive? I remember him saying that he used ray tracing to inform the grav bikes on the terrain ahead, and I thought I remembered Chris Roberts saying that that was a major problem because of the cost to performance... or something like that.
