@@marysharveyas well as our Camping Worlds and other fine RV dealerships across the country. Thank you our trucking brothers and sisters! You’re the BEST!!
But if California has the highest prices including homes, why not sell ur high priced home, make a profit and buy a much cheaper home in Texas or Florida?
FYI regarding fueling at a truck stop. I was a truck driver nearly 30yrs. When a driver is finished fueling, they will pull forward allowing a truck that might be behind them to fuel. This is just a courtesy to the other driver. If a driver does pull forward and stops, they will more than likely go into the truck stop building for food, drink, restrooms or something else. As for your comment about not staying at rest areas, thank you! There is simply not enough parking spaces for big rigs. Even tho I'm now retired, I can speak on behalf of ALL truck drivers that they appreciate your leaving a spot for them.
As a current trucker, 10 minutes is generally considered the maximum "pull forward" time. Plenty of time to potty, grab some caffeine and maybe some prepared food, and go. If there's a fast food place with an app, I'll order while fueling (or waiting to fuel), and then it's grab and go.
Lived in Cali for 5 years. Marin county and northern Cali too. Been back twice. Never again. There’s too much beauty without the high tax and weirdness!!
As a trucker and former Cali resident (now a proud Texan), I can tall you this: 1. California HATES trucks. If they could figure out a way to ban any vehicle over 26000 pounds, they would. Insane fuel prices, very little parking (and MANY restrictions on building more parking), and that idiotic statewide 55 speed limit for anything towing a trailer. (I saw that 60!) 2. Sacramento needs an enema.
California accountant here. Gotta correct you on the gas tax.. the 2.25% and 13% is just the state rate... most counties / localities add onto that. So for example if you are in Los Angeles you're likely going to pay 5% for regular/mid/premium and 15.25% for diesel. It's basically going to vary depending on what county and city you are in.
I was going to say the same thing! Our house is in NC. We rented it out vs selling like lots of full time rvers. But NC is definitely a beautiful state, too!
The summer of 2021 I left the RV at home (10 mpg towing) packed my tenting gear and took my grandkids to see the National Parks of the west. 8,000 miles total. We saw Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and South Dakota! We camped mostly in National or State Forests at less than $20 night, and splurged on a few motels with swimming pools;) If your viewers’ budget is tight, there are options to be more thrifty!
Hi Diana! This is such a great point. We are so happy to hear that you were able to make a great trip with your grandkids 🙂 Thank you for your support in watching - Kyle and Renee
Guys, you need to join the Elks. As I watch this, we’re in our 38’ DP at the Burbank elks, 10 minutes from Universal City. 50 amp & water, $20 a night. And our first drink in the lodge bar was free. I would say we’ve found a majority of CA Elks take reservations, too. Oh…and yes, CA is pricey, but so are Alaska and Canada. We’re enjoying RVing everywhere we can, while we are healthy!
California is a beautiful state, it is run by fools but there are some good fok there. Truckers are the heart beat of this country. I'm so glad to see yall giving them space. Looking forward to next week and the repairs.
If you're in Crescent City, you gotta go to Brookings, Oregon. It's only 30 minutes away and the ocean and river are gorgeous! Also, check out Orange Grove RV near Bakersfield. It's a really nice place to stay!
Born & raised in N California & I’ve camped & RV’d my entire life. During the fair weather months the most beautiful place to travel thru the mountains North to South is I-5 to Mt Shasta. Go east on 89 and travel over to 395 south. It will take you through NV in the Reno area. RV parks are cheaper and it’s beautiful. 395 below Lake Tahoe you will find the most expensive fuel cost in the nation due to its remoteness and California special fuel blend.
I agree, Cali is so expensive. Our son lives in Richmond, just northeast of Oakland, so we have been there often. We are lucky we can park our camper on the street in front of his house while we are there. We have taken route 1, a couple of times, and it is beautiful. Boondocking is a great way to camp in Cali, and we do it a lot. We don't make reservations either. We fly by the seat of our pants. Oh, if you go to Mendocino, make sure you don't plan on fueling there. Their one station runs about 3 - 4 dollars a gallon higher than 10 miles down the road! On our trip home last fall, we found rest areas that have areas set aside for overnight campers and you aren't taking up truck areas. They were along highway 70. Happy camping!
I live and RV in Northern California Bay Area and agree with you all. Secret to staying overnight on the cheap is staying at fairgrounds and county parks. Half the cost of KOA. Don’t tell anyone. We stay at Lodi once every year with our FMCA club. Nice park but pricey because nothing else close and it’s nice. Have a safe trip.
Flag City is a Passport America Park - half price reduces the cost, but not COE cheap. The problem is that it is close to I5 and traffic noise intrudes. It is a nice stop on a long I5 drive.
@@patireland3345 Yes they are - half price for two nights. We stay at Flag City with a FMCA group so no discount. Passport America has only a few RV Parks in CA. I'll let my membership expire as I've never had the opportunity to use it in seven years of RV'ing.
We RVed California in 2022 when diesel was $9.99 a gallon. Since we took the Pacific Highway, we had to refuel at smaller gas stations. We have a 50-gallon tank, and smaller stations have set money limits.. we had to swipe CC 3x to refuel.. on that 2nd swipe, the bank would start sending alerts.. it was hilarious. Despite the expense of California, we had a great adventure! So many fun memories.
I’m a truck driver. General truck stop etiquette for the fuel island is to pull forward after you are done fueling if you are only going to be there for ten minutes or less. If you are going to be longer , it’s best to go find a spot and park.
Yes, California is expensive, but you are right it is beautiful. You can't beat the weather most of the time. We have had some crazy winter weather. I hope you enjoyed visiting the fam. I'm a lifelong California resident and still love it.
I was a Californian in a previous life, and am 55 now in this life and am beyond ready to go back! I’ve been ready for 50 years! Buying an rv soon and leaving June 1 st. I need to find somewhere around LA to park for a week or so while my kids are w me so we can do touristy stuff before they fly back home. If anyone has any info, I’d appreciate it.
@@LisaMarieMJ how close are you looking to get? There's lake puddingstone near the la Fair that has good spots, there's a bunch in Santa Clarita, one really close to magic mountain. There's one in Malibu that stays pretty busy. I'm sure there are some closer into the heart of LA but it can become sketchy
The only thing beautiful about Krazyfornia is the landscape besides that it pretty much sucks. What other state has a 70 billion dollar train to nowhere and highways that could have used that money way more than Feinsteins husbands company did.
Some don't realize one of the big reasons it's so expensive to RV in California is becuz it's so popular. Even made more by social media channels who promote its scenery, weather, attractions. People get priced gouged when there's a demand unfortunately.
As former kalifornians, I can say it is one of the most beautiful states in the Union. As escapees, (former kalifornians) never look back. Sad but true.
Born and raised in Lodi! Can’t believe you didn’t spend a day or two to visit the beautiful area. Some of the best wines come from Lodi. It’s actually a very charming town with some excellent restaurants in addition to the wineries. And while the RV park you stayed at was convenient to the freeway, many of the wineries are members of harvest host.
Thanks Hanks for introducing me to the Open Roads program. I've recently had to make dozens of 96 mile round trips to tend to family matters. The Open Roads card has had me paying around $1/gallon less than pump prices for diesel, sometimes more. Thank you!
Any native Californians a little disappointed when they said their route was down HWY 5? lol I was hoping for 101(with a necessary bypass around Big Sur) But I'm Super Excited for this mini-series in my neck of the woods!! As expected, a lot of haters in the comments though 👎
I wouldn’t say “haters.” As a full timer who recently left, CA was a LOVE/HATE relationship. I absolutely love the beauty, geography, scenery, and memories definitely made. I could do without the insane costs and roads that destroy RV’s to be an RV’er in that state. Would I still come to CA to RV vacation? Hell yes! It’s every bit worth it. But gotta budget accordingly. The Hanks are doing the RV community a HUGE FAVOR by making this REAL life video.
Only a part timer but love your content, very informative. I don't miss the big city traffic, especially when you're pulling your home behind you! Glad you got to spend time with family. Stay safe.
Always great content. My highest gas price was in California last June was 4.99. The lowest in the mid west was 2.54.. Over 17k miles 8n less than a year having a great time. Grandpa Jack. Caught my first Red fish and Black Drum yesterday. ❤
yup. I know Cali well since I live here. Part of fuel costs is for road maintenance. A lot of familiar scenery you guys showed. I can't wait to enjoy this series! Of course, they are ALL excellent.
@@Pantherjonvideos don't forget fixing highways that don't need it for 2 years. Or adding a lane for 12 years. Caltrans is the most successful Mafia organization I'm aware of
But they get stuff done. Cali roads are kept up for the most part especially when you compare to most other states. I’ve been stations in many states. Lived in Cali over 20years too. Haters are gonna hate. My take on life is you get what you pay for. Cali weather isn’t free. I’d take Cali over RI, Fl, NM, or TX.
Love watching you guys. My wife & I are 77 and have had a 1993 Prowler, 24' for 6 years. we are not full time but we have put over 10k miles on it, we live in San Diego County, CA. We have learned a lot from watching your channel....Don't give up nursing. We need all we can get.
Welcome to Cali. We live in north San Diego county, so we know the pain on it hitting your wallet. That’s why we mostly camp local. Carlsbad State Beach, Pala RV, and some trips to Big Bear. The big trips are usually out of state for us.
Having lived and spent a good part of my life in CA, it was cool hearing you talk about areas I’ve been to and lived in. We lived near Paradise well before the fires. I have family in Redding and we were just there over Christmas. We love going to Whiskey Town lake during the summers and swimming. It was also cool seeing the footage of you all driving through SacTown. Yes, California is a beautiful state, but I am so thankful we left that state many years ago. That place is no longer the place I grew up in. I love to visit, but would never live there again. We hope to get tickets for your event in East TN.
I wish I’d known you guys were in Redding! I worked for Reach there and just took a RN Paramedic liaison positions at Shasta Regional. I keep my Solitude at the KOA in Red Bluff and stay there while I’m in the valley working. I live up at Lake Almanor in Chester, CA.
Great video! We do mostly wild camping in CA to avoid some of these frustrations but sometimes it’s unavoidable. A good attitude goes a long way for y’all ❤
How about doing a video on the tax implications of full time RVing? If you're and RVer and a content creator what is tax deductible? Can you deduct some of the cost of fuel? What about repairs? Upgrades? Office space in the RV? RV and truck insurance? The list goes on.
We have RV 'd 49 states. Local fuel stations are substantially less expensive even without a fuel discount plan. Also I have found we lose 1 to 2 mpg with the bio diesel. Definitely a much higher cost than the price at the pump.
Here is something fun, When I was going south on I-5, near Lodi I went over a bump that caused my mirror on the passenger side to fold in. Yeah, fun times. Then I got a transmission overheat light going up the grapevine. That was 1st day and night in my first home on wheels.
We’ve talked before in the past. We live in Paradise, love that you guys have a connection to upper Nor Cal! Safe travels! If you’re ever in the Paradise area let us know 👍
Oh boy, what now??? Thanks Hanks for leaving us guessing!!! 🤔🤔🤔 Hope that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg!!! Happy Camping and Safe Travels!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻😳😳
Spoiler alert! Probably a busted spring or a spring bolt has lost its lock nut and has walked out back up the road.. Happens a lot, it seems. If you watch Finding Our Someday, they've been through 2 full spring packs (one for each axle) because of the rough roads they travel. We lived in Reno, NV, then had a place in Southern Nevada west of Las Vegas. You are right, California is a beautiful state. We've visited some spectacular places, that's for sure! Prices were pretty steep even 27 years ago. Almost be worthwhile carrying 30 gallons of spare diesel. As for biodiesel, you should probably use an additive like Hotshot's Secret EDT to treat the fuel and save yourself future heartaches.
Fairly new to the show, although addicted, and purchased a new Grand Design Travel Trailer this winter in preparation for some fun family trips for years to come. Keep the content coming. Thanks, Chris.
Nana, I totally agree with you. If you do have time traveling, slow down and smell the roses in the area you are traveling through. My bride ( of 36 yrs. ) are both retired now. We went on an east coast trip 2 yrs ago. We live 1 hr. north of Atlanta. Had a plan of thru Tenn., Kentucky, Ohio, up to Niagra Falls. Over to New Hampshire to visit friends and back down the east coast. Point being, we had certain spots to hit. We just were nomads and probably 50% of our stops were places we just saw or had locals tell us about along the way. Most of those were some of the best stops we made along the way. Like when we were at the Orville & Wilber Wright bycicle shop. The ranger asked us if we were going to the Air Force Museum. We took an extra day and went since it was just a few miles away. Boy, was that a fun day. Spent the whole day there. Another was we were driving and my bride screamed out, we are near the Mark Twain house. Was not sure about that one but I said OK. Boy was I wrong, what an amazing place. That is 2 of the many places we stopped on the spur of the moment that made our trip so great. If you have time, stop and smell the roses. We drove 4005 miles in 32 days and was the best trip of our lives. We do not RV, stayed in motels. Bride got so good at finding places to stay on the fly while we were on the road to our next stop at the end of each day. Carl & Nana, have been subscribed and following you for about 3 yrs. to get ideas for our trips. Thank you !!!! LOVE your channel !!!!! Next trip is middle part of the country next year. After that is the western 1/3 of the US. Middle I think is 6 to 7 week trip. West side I guess is going to be 2 months plus. Looking forward to both with the ideas you have given us. Thanks !!!!!
I feel ya on the gas prices in Cali. We fueled up our Class A in AZ drove into LA to spend the holiday's with my parents and sisters, pit in $50.00 before we headed out and barely made it to AZ to fill up again. And when I say barely, the low fuel light that says, "Yo, dumb dumb, you got 30 miles left" was on for 38 miles. I too grew up in Cali (in the Valley, for sure for sure) and love being there. ya just gotta watch the wallet for sure!
I just watched to the end, great job backing in Kyle, I'm glad you discovered that problem at camp, not on the road and I hope it doesn't get too expensive.
I drove a truck for 30 yrs! I did drive calif a few times and it is expensive ! As a tanker driver and as regular freight driver. Biofuel is like this... And yes ive hauled it as well, biofuel can be made from any sugar drink and even algie ! Diesal can get a fungi build up, to much and it can hurt a diesal !
Right?? Just imagine living here!! Super hard to find available campsites even though they cost $65 or more per site and to add to that the sites are very limited in size!
We were in Lodi back in June. Stayed at a very nice Harvest Host winery but I gotta say I always spend just as much as I would at a campground. In San Diego we stayed at Fiddler's Cove on Coronado, a military fam camp, about $69 a night. You left us with a cliffhanger again Hanks!! Great video as always. And we put our cat in the camper a lot as he gets salty, too. He just sleeps through most of it in there anyway. 😉
Always try to take Hwy 1, If you can't for some reason then take Hwy 101. Last choice is always interstate 5. The 395 is nicer than taking the 5. in my humble opinion. Love your videos.
You guys have me hooked on watching your channel. Sothern California my whole life and will likely retire in the Central Coast area in a couple years and start our extended RVing experience.
See you in June! Just got our rally tickets and campground reservation a minute ago. This will be a great way to end our trip from Florida to Maine and back.
Currently RVing in California. Left Las Vegas late December & went into southern California. Making our way northward. Just went through Bakersfield yesterday going to a TT park. I have full hookup & I’m not paying the ungodly prices you talk about. I do have a membership with TT. We will be using national forest this summer in our travels without the hookups. Seniors in a 33 ft. 5th wheel & loving it. We were paying $4 a gallon for gas in the northeast states this past summer & fall. We use Gas Buddy for fuel. California is a beautiful state & we plan on coming back next year to winter. Travel wisely & enjoy the adventure.
In 2019 to 2020 I was filling my tank for right around $70, in 2020 the fuel prices shot up , by late 2021 I was paying $230 a tank I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD , 36 gallon tank . California is horrible for fuel prices. But hey you guys passed right by my neck of the woods Sacramento area , I’ve never camped in flag city but I pass through all the time, safe travels guys👋🏽
Gotta love those not so well maintained California highways. The only time I ever had a slide out fail on my rv was from driving through LA and all those bumps. The kitchen slide motor came unplugged for the rest of the trip. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this video.
At 2:30, there's a shot of Mt. Shasta... my family boondocks about 6 miles from that location every summer! Gotta love the Shasta-Trinity Nation Forest!
Born and raised in CA and we moved out 3years ago…best thing we ever did! Great place to visi5 if you have money but horrible place to live now sadly #Maga
A lot of places that give good sam, escapees, etc also offer a military & veteran discount, we've learned. We've been wanting to do California but have loved Arizona. We're in Quartzsite currently & shocked the fuel prices are so much more even 20 minutes from here (California). This has been our 1st boondocking adventure and have absolutely loved it! We've not plugged up since January 9th. It feels so freeing to be able to boondock! Yall should do quartzite next year! We came for a youtuber rally during the big tent thing. Planned on staying 2 weeks but it's been 2 months 😂 we've just loved it! Also, we saw diesel over $7/ Gallon in Cali the other day. Insane!!
@@HappilyEverHanks So I have to ask; do you foresee a time when you will want to take a break from the RV life and return to a regular house? Your adventures have inspired me to travel further with my trailer. I did a 6000 km trip last summer over 38 days. This year it will be a bit further over about 45 days. So, thanks for your example of a great adventure on the road.
My friends own the Journey KOA in Bakersfield. The Pattersons. I think it’s a very nice KOA and they make absolutely Killer Bloody Mary’s. I hardly ever drink but I do enjoy their Bloody Mary’s! Just wondering about how behind you are in releasing your videos? Sometimes it would really be nice to know what date(s) you are actually pulling into a place. Hope you enjoyed Journey!
We been vacationing in California for years because we live in Nevada. But with our RV we have not been able to make it there because our favorite spot has had issues with road closures washouts because of all the rain. But if you get the opportunity to go to Halama Beach, it is absolutely beautiful. They do have some hook up sites or just electric or you could use your generator and your solar and have the rear end of your camper right on the beach. Check it out.❤
Broken leaf spring, isn't it? I had one in Oregon several years back. Two trips to a boat supply place for leaf springs (guessed wrong the first time) and I as able to replace the leaf spring in the RV spot (after asking the host).
As a rv’er in California, I can tell you it’s expensive and hard to get into national parks. Private rv parks are easy to get into, but most have you sandwiched in so tight you can hear your neighbors inside their trailer. State and national parks are extremely hard to get into, reservations are 6 months in advance and sell out within a hour.
Thanks for the heads up, Ed! We’ve definitely experienced that sandwich effect too. It can be a challenge finding the right spot, but when you do, it’s worth it! Thank you for taking the time to watch. You mean so much
You should have stayed at Orange Grove RV park outside of Bakersfield, you could have picked free oranges to offset your expenses. 😜As a California resident, I'm glad to see you are not trashing the state, it's expensive, but worth every penny. Palm Springs is the best place on Earth, hope you make it here. If visiting Joshua tree, avoid the KOA and stay at Joshua Tree Lake RV & Campground, it's cool and quirky just like you two.
You made the right choice not to take the cutoff road from Redding over to Hwy 1 it is very narrow and very twisty. Also the portion of Hwy 1 from Ft. Bragg down through SF is very narrow and twisty and with a rig your size it would not be a very fun drive. The section from Monterey south is very nice but prone to mudslides this time of year. Then there is the fuel costs. They SUCK especially diesel. I live in Krazyfornia and sometimes I have actually dropped my trailer and gone to a regular station because the cost can be up to a dollar cheaper than your truck stops. Oh and ignore that stupid 55 MPH when towing BS we have as no one but a very few people drive 55 it just screws up the traffic flow, 65 is always a safe bet.
This brings us more peace of mind, knowing that we made the right decision. Thank you for taking the time to share! We were worried about those narrow and twisty roads along highway one and of course the mudslides this time of year like you mentioned. We appreciate all your support! - Kyle and Renee
Hi guys! From the end of this latest video, let me guess. Either the leaf spring broke at or near the shackle eyelet or one of the shackle bolts has broken off therefore allowing the axle to slide forward. I have had both happen to me with our GD Momentum.the main spring leaf broke off from stress at the end of the second leaf. I replaced all 4 spring sets with custom reinforced springs (7 leafs instead of the normal 6 with that 7th being the same length as the the main leaf with no eyelets for the shackle bolts). Sothe weight of the unit was actually more supported by doubled springs. Then a year or so ago, for some reason unkown the two front axle front shackle bolts broke allowing the axle to roll back and tires rubbed the rear tires causing 3 tire blowouts (I mean shredded tires) and the forth tire severely damaged. I ended up replacing 4 G rated 14 ply tires and having the axles realigned. We were fortunately only a mile from a heavy trailer manufacturing and service company and we cripled in and the owner allowed us to boondock there overnight (as it was already after 5 pm) and they did the repairs first thing in the morning and we were back on the road by noon. God watches over us always.
Born in Roseville, grew up in Oceanside/Carlsbad/Encinitas, high school in Susanville, college at Chico State, 26 year career in LEO in Butte Co. (Chico) and fled Hellifornia when I retired 3 days before the Camp Fire. Absolutely beautiful state but f@cked up beyond all belief. I couldn’t get away fast enough.
Being from California and having an old job where I traveled up and down the state on a regular basis, this is a trip down memory lane for me. Thanks for that. We still live here and yes, we are the highest taxed state in the nation now as a result of our current and recent leadership. It has really fleeced us of our hard earned cash to keep living here but it's hard to go anywhere else. I love your videos and enjoy your channel. I need to get back through and catch up a bit. Safe travels you two. What happened in the axle area? Take care.
Those are just amazing places to visit, we are so happy to hear that you were able to do so! Nice work on being able to save some money and cut some cost when it comes to fuel as well. Thank you for your wonderful support! - Kyle
We’re not full time yet so we’ve never made it to California from Ohio due to limited time. I hope over the next few years something amazing happens and prices drop drastically. Thanks for sharing.
I had an2018 F-350 diesel. The bio diesel ran fine in mine but it seemed to get less mileage than diesel #2. RVs stay at the parking lot of Harris Ranch restaurant for free next time you are in the area. I met Today is some day there by accident about 2 years ago. Was pretty cool. Be safe.
Callie wasn’t bad back in the late 80’s. I was stationed in the Bay Area from 88-92 and we camped in the Sierras and the foothills to backpack, four wheel and gold pan. Gas went up after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 89 but then dropped some two years later. ❤️ Yosemite and that whole area.
There are some beautiful areas left in California. It's such a shame they keep burning up and falling off. It appears that was the southern tip of South Carolina crossing into Georgia. I hope it looks that way next year. Hope you stayed safe. Thanks for sharing.❄️
Full-time in California. Can confirm prices are ridiculous. Also, roads are terrible, especially the 5, 99 and 58. Willing to bet you broke leaf springs on the 99 between Fresno and bako. Happened the first night I got my Momentum. The right lanes are beyond wrecked.
Ha ha - I've been saying my entire life: "Where else can you go skiing in the morning and surfing in the afternoon?" California has expensive fuel. It has roads better than at least 3 other states we have traveled through. And there are plenty of other states where the price of RV parks are insane (we rarely do them, but sometimes we have to). California also has some amazing inexpensive campgrounds as well as free boondocking! Oh my Lodi... wineries! And loads of awesome Harvest Hosts in the area. I really like your outlook on why you use RV parks. I agree :)
Saw near $7.00 for a short time, (Shell red-pump). $5.00 fuel more often / almost full time. Campland in Mission Bay, SD, was $53.00 a night for water view. One weekend they had race boats running, front row lawn chair seats, no extra $’s. Not surprised to see more $ to camp, thirty years later. (Fuel cost slightly above $2.00 then). Your videos are always good, thanks.
In answer to your first question of how much does it cost? Too much, but I'll still go one day soon. I think I see a "we had to fix our RV" video coming up next week. Keep the good stuff coming guys and even though he was misbehaving give Sexy Dexy a treat for me.
I’m from Southern California some nice places to camp at is calico the spot to camp free right next to it is called Mule Canyon. They have a lot of minds you guys could walk around and find. and explore. We also like a resort in Palm Springs that you can go to the house full hook ups. It’s called Emerald desert. Great staff super quiet park.

The summer of 2021 I left the RV at home (10 mpg towing) packed my tenting gear and took my grandkids to see the National Parks of the west. 8,000 miles total. We saw Utah, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and South Dakota!
We camped mostly in National or State Forests at less than $20 night, and splurged on a few motels with swimming pools;)
If your viewers’ budget is tight, there are options to be more thrifty!
I'm a Californian. I-5 is in terrible condition in the Central Valley all the way to Bakersfield and beyond. It's like a dirt bike track.
So true, Money flying out while our roads are ridiculous specially i-5
If you're in Crescent City, you gotta go to Brookings, Oregon. It's only 30 minutes away and the ocean and river are gorgeous!
Also, check out Orange Grove RV near Bakersfield. It's a really nice place to stay!
You’re right. Brookings is awesome. We’ve stayed there a few times while camping
I agree fuel along the 395 is akin to highway robbery.
I noticed your rig leaning drivers side in the opening….cant wait to see what needs fixin’!
You two ain't goin anywhere that I want to go with a rig like that! You should act your age, you doin it like a 70 year old couple. LMAO
Great cliffhanger there at the end. Can we guess? Either broken spring or spring hanger. Can't believe that didn't happen on your Alaska tour.
I 2nd this! I've moved away a couple times, but always come back. I ❤CA.
When you stop at Coalinga, you gotta eat at Harris Ranch!
Thank you!
Any native Californians a little disappointed when they said their route was down HWY 5? lol I was hoping for 101(with a necessary bypass around Big Sur)
But I'm Super Excited for this mini-series in my neck of the woods!!
As expected, a lot of haters in the comments though 👎
I was thinking the 395 would've been nice. Rare chance to see lake Owens with water
Why Highway 5? What is the point?
@@jazziered142 Just because hwy 5 is THE most boring hwy straight down the middle of CA.
It’s always hard saying goodbye. I’ve made sure to see everyone once a year.
Only a part timer but love your content, very informative. I don't miss the big city traffic, especially when you're pulling your home behind you! Glad you got to spend time with family. Stay safe.
Part time RVing sounds awesome too! That traffic is always fun LOL
Native Californian from Georgetown (El Dorado County) Unfortunately Left 3 years ago because of politics. Moved to Idaho and love it..(Retired L.E.O)
You mean that part of the fuel tax is SUPPOSED to go to road maintenance.
@@JamieStuff But usually instead gets put in the 'general funds' to pay for other stuff..Lived in CA for a number of years and seen it happen..
Exactly!
Enjoyed tonight's music choices very much 👌
Love watching you guys.
Very interesting video. Looking forward to the total figures. Thank you.
CCR is cranked!!! Thanks for the courtesy towards truckers, much appreciated! Another great vid!!!
Howdy Hanks, it's great to see you today. I'm looking forward to seeing this new mini series.
I love you guys for taking me along on your adventures!
As a California resident, I approve what you guys experienced and you said
Right?? Just imagine living here!! Super hard to find available campsites even though they cost $65 or more per site and to add to that the sites are very limited in size!
So wild!
Thats awesome you were in our neck of the woods. We would of loved to run into you guys. Safe travels.
My Bride and I always look forward to watching your videos. Hope to have great adventures like you two are having 😊
You will have wonderful adventures! Thanks for watching 😃
Native Central Coast Californian here. You're going to love retiring here :)
I love your videos! 5 more months until I retire and hubby and I can take out out 24' trailer.
Insane!!
"Oh wait, that doesn't look good'. Words to live by on the road. Hope it didn't cost too much. Travel safe and good video.
LOL this is so true! Thank you very much for your kind support and taking the time to comment. We appreciate you!
I'm glad you guys have a lot of respect for other people
As a rv’er in California, I can tell you it’s expensive and hard to get into national parks.
You mean so much
Get a “led wide band” light for your head, great for night time RV stuff. Worth the $20 for a pair.
Great start to the Cali mini series
Born in Roseville, grew up in Oceanside/Carlsbad/Encinitas, high school in Susanville, college at Chico State, 26 year career in LEO in Butte Co. (Chico) and fled Hellifornia when I retired 3 days before the Camp Fire. Absolutely beautiful state but f@cked up beyond all belief. I couldn’t get away fast enough.
Thank you Hanks, you're awesome!
Take care.
Loved our trip to yosemite and lake tahoe. We were a few miles from the Nevada border, so we would fill up there and save quite a bit on fuel.
Those are just amazing places to visit, we are so happy to hear that you were able to do so! Nice work on being able to save some money and cut some cost when it comes to fuel as well. Thank you for your wonderful support! - Kyle
Cliffhanger! 😲
Great video. Can't wait for the next one. We are very intrigued...
The tree huggers also forced closures of refineries that exacerbates transport costs.
And haven't allowed any new to be built.
another great VOD. 👍👍
You guy are great. Would love to see you do a review of pilot truck stop rv stops.
We are heading out there for our next stay in early April, Mt. Shasta looks so beautiful!
Hi Joseph! Thank you for taking the time to share these with us, they definitely seem like great places to go and visit. We will keep these in mind! We appreciate your time and support 😃 - Kyle and Renee
No way, you all spent 2 months in my home base of Redding? Crazy!
Yes fuel is insane here. I got back from the Midwest and least coast recently. To go from 2.99 to 5.40 is nuts.
Welcome to my area. I know you mentioned January, so that means this video is from last month
Welcome to my daily route on the 5. Sac-Bakersfield.
Also born and raised in San Diego California and it’s a beautiful place! But we finally left 6 years ago and moved to NC and we are so happy here!
Glad you’re close to your family with that RV problem. Was it the shackle or leaf spring?
Nice edit, with a great cliffhanger ending!!!
