    That was great! I am going to try to make one similar to that one for my brother. He was the one that took me pheasant hunting for the first time.

    This is a "great" video. You & your family continue to improve with your services. Love your prompt delivery of ordered products & I really noticed how your voice-over is so effective along with the added music. I think it's only fair, as a brand new student, that I try to encourage you folks as you always motivate me. I gotta try this Aromatic Cedar. Thanks, Larry.

    Awesome video demo Eric & Vicki! I'll probably be ordering some of the new templates in the near future. Guess I'm one of your fortunate viewers as I'm less than 25 miles from 4 different sawyers that I'm aware of that cater to the weekend hobbyist. The sawyer I now frequent has 18 different local species listed on his website that are usually have on hand and are ready for sale. He doesn't ship his product though, it's go there find what you want pay for it, load it, go home and make some sawdust. Yes Eastern Red Cedar is one of his biggest sellers.

    Very NICE work, you are really a fantastic artist!! Thanks for sharing!!! I do a fair amount of power carving with a dental drill but takes forever to carve. Looking forward to giving the router a whirl in my carving to reduce the amount of time spent. I have purchased bits suggested by other artist via u-tube and will try those but very impressed with your router bits. Thanks again. Also have a very Blessed and Happy Easter to you all!!! If you like I can send some pictures of what I have been carving??

    I'm out in the New England area and Lowes sells the cedar boards. They sell cedar decking too. I take the cedar deck boards and cut off the rounded edges. Gives you a nice thick board with the cedar grain.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Eric. Some more very good info. I have access to a bunch of cabinet grade 3/4” plywood. Have you (or anyone else) ever routed this material? I would like to get your take on this before I ruin my bits. Thanks so much for all you, your Dad and Vicki do for us.

    Wow, the grain on that board ended up being perfect for that picture with the lake being a little darker than the sky. Great info on using the different bits and the depths for each. Looks like RIGID was watching your videos and designed a router that let in some light without having to cut a hole in it. It also has an LED but I believe just one, not two like the DEWALT. A quick note for you guys. If you modify the dewalt, you are cutting out the part of it that has the screw holes that you need to use the edge guide. That will probably void the warranty also. Hope that helps someone out there that may not want the added work of the dewalt modification. Oh, nice touch playing the music while you're routing! Love you three. Keep up the great work. God bless!!

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed this one. I believe if you cut the housing at all you probably void the warranty. For me that's not an issue but you make a good point for someone that it might be. Also, I don't use edge guides so again that makes no difference for me.

    • @thestime
      @thestime 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dave, I know the router warranty and losing the edge guide capability is a non-issue for you but I have never heard you or your dad mention it in the router modification videos. Might be a good topic to bring up on one of your coffee and questions just to let everyone else know. Do you think that you will be phasing out the DeWalt and using the Ridgid now?

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea, I will put that on the list. I'm staying with the dewalt. I also use the ridgid on a regular basis. I keep my 60 degree bit in it.

    Eric, While you were carving with the SC50, you talked about the sawdust "burring up". Is this "burring up" what happens when the wood is too wet also?

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there are several possible reasons for burring, but too much moisture is 1 possibility.

    Another great video, I don't know if i'll be able to watch on Saturday (family coming down for Easter) but I will catch up. Did you manage to get in touch with the young girl from the last live broadcast? A question that I'd like answered is does it matter which way around you go to make a circle, I think I say somewhere that if you're going one way you get a better line. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Mark, glad you enjoyed it. The LTS will be posted hopefully by the end of the weekend. Not sure if Vicki got in touch with the young girl or not. Each board and grain is different. Sometime clockwise sometimes counter clockwise. Depends on how the grain is lying in the board. What maters more is the sharpness of your bits. Thanks again for watching, Eric

    Learned a lot this morning. Did my first craving Sunday. Had issues that you addressed today. The router base seemed to hang up on the primer. I’ll sand next time and silicone spray. Had issues holding a straight line. Any thing you can suggest to improve that? I’m sure practice will help. Have you decided what the Premier member template will be for April? Than you again.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On video #266 (7:30 mark) when I'm carving the stripes I show my hand position when holding the router. This really makes a big difference for me on holding a line. Yes Vicki has chosen the template for April. We'll be showing it on Saturdays LTS. Thanks again for watching, Eric

    As a suggestion, you might tell what time zone you are in instead of saying it is Arizona time. I don't know the time zone for Arizona and I'm too lazy to search for it.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea, get kind of confusing because 1/2 the year we are mountain time and the other 1/2 we are pacific time. Arizona doesn't do the daylight saving time change.

    • @bobt2522
      @bobt2522 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand that. For a long time, Indiana did not observe daylight savings time. We have gone from confusion over what time it is to whining about the time change. To make it worse, for a short time, they moved the time zone line between my town and my work. That was very confusing.
