Hi Gabriela your water should be balanced before you use any product and definitely follow the instructions on the floc most of them require your PH to be between 7.6-7.8 to be most effective. Good luck and thanks for watching pool elementary!
You don't want to use your filter until you have vacuumed the pool after the flocculant has settled everything out. The filter will actually take the flocculant out of the water.
Manual vacuuming and bypassing the filter is a must when it comes to flocking your pool. What settled at the bottom of the pool is so small that it will almost plug any cartridge paper filter instantly and will travel straight through a sand filter. So if you were thinking of using a robotic vacuum it would just stir up all thats settled on the pool floor and what did go in the vacuum would just plug up its filters fast.
You can add about a quarter bottle of Flocculant to 4 gallons of water in a bucket. stir it up and add it directly to the pool. Repeat until you have added the recommended dose of Flocculant to the pool.
So I normally have a 90% success rate with flocking pools. The 9% of the time it didn't work is because of live algae in the pool water or I had to use twice the flocc and give it two or three times the amount of time to settle out to the bottom of the pool. So make sure the algae is dead with a 4 parts per million chlorine residual or higher and you might have to use more and give it more time to settle. The last 1% of the pools that it doesn't work on I have no answer but it just didn't work for me either. I ended up adding a De filter aid to the sand filter and filtered the cloudy water out over a week or two.
Stacy, that's where I am at right now.. I've had floc in the pool for over 48 hours with no change.. my ph is in the correct levels, I've used a lot of chlorine and it's still very green.. I think I need to increase my stabilizer levels considerably, super chlorinate again to the point of scorched earth, wait for the algea to actually die and the floc..
So the floc ended up working and dragging a lot down to the bottom.. but my chlorine levels we'rnt high enough so it didn't actually kill the algea, just dropped it and was able to vacuum a bunch out, so for the last week I've had very high chlorine and the pool on filter, just added clarifier to clump it again.. then I'll vacuum again.. such a slow process..
Good to hear that your about to be through this epic battle between you and the pool! Your situation is one of the few that really just blows! The only thing I would do next year if it was my pool is get some chlorine tab floaters or liquid chlorine in the pool late winter or when it thaws to get the algae beat before it even starts next year. Save ya alot of time, money and cursing 🤬! Hope the rest of the season gets better! Pool elementary

Should your water be completely balanced before using a floc or clarifier? Just bought a house with a very green pool!

Can i filter the water after using the flocculant? Or will it bug my sand inside the filter? Does it work the same way as the sulfate ?

@@Poolelementary thanks!
I have the dolphin E10 vacuum would I still need a manual vacuum ?

When manual vacuuming always vacuum to waste on a sand filter
Will clarifier work with baquacil, is so what brands work with baquacil?
You can use clarifiers and Flocculant in a baquacil pool just not any products that have chlorine in them.
For the flocculant...what if ur sand filter doesn't have a recirculation on it?...I only have winterization..filter...backwash and rinse

What about using flocculant with a cartridge filter? How do I recirculate? How do I avoid restricting the cartridge?
You would need a bypass for your filter or some people just take the cartridge filter out while circulating the floc
Great idea pulling the filter.
What would cause a flocc to not work?
