  • Some additional Piano Roll and Note Grid ideas for Bitwig or Note Grid beginners. There are so many simple things you can do to get your project started. Here are some easy and fun ones for Bitwig. All Bitwig really needs is better visualizations of what’s happening with the notes.

I really like the ratios stuff as an alternative to key filters. It's like having a micro-harmonicon, I guess because every fraction you happen to pick by messing around with the numerator and denominator are harmonics that were already in there somewhere. That pitch was kind of already hidden in the other pitch.

Joe Zawinul used to invert the voltage of his arp 2600 keyboard to discover new melodies, break the habit. Famously used this trick on "Black Market"

Is there a library of music theory modules from the grid? For example, you created a wrapper using multiple modules, which would take me too long to figure out independently, but that amounts to a mapping function constraining a pinch to a range. There's a fundamental difference between learning generalizable music theory principles and memorizing the mechanics of a tool.

Hmm... We could probably make specific microtonal tunings which aren't achievable with Bitwig's native micropitch device, or perhaps make it more versatile. There's a new plugin I recently saw called Infinitone 2 that allows blending between tunings, tuning systems, chords, progressions and more. Could you look into what something similar could look like in the grid?

Thank you for all your videos
they are always inspiring and very educational
I have a question that has been on my mind for a long time :
How would you do, in the grid, a "random other" in order to have a randomization without any repetition (in an arpeggio for example) ?
(I can't seem to properly develop a comparator to roll dices again in case of equal quantized value)
I search for a long time to answer that but I don't find any ressources for it
For now, I do it with containers Selector with the mode "Random Other", but I would like expand this in some Grid experiences
    Thx
