BREAKING Into The Tombs Of The Tudors

  • The most notorious and shocking royal family to rule over England was the Tudors. The Tudor monarchs despite only ruling for just over a century would change the face of the country forever, with huge alterations to religion being brought into the nation. The Tudor times were a time of bloodshed and execution, with some of the most high profile members of society being brutally killed in the name of the King’s justice. Henry VIII executed two of his own wives inside the Tower of London, and some of his closest friends would also meet their maker on Tower Hill. But Mary I, Henry’s daughter would also instigate a reign of terror in which many were burned at the stake. But after the death of Elizabeth I in 1603, the Tudor era came to an abrupt end. Previous monarchs had envisioned that the House of Tudor would remain on the throne for centuries after. Most of the Tudor monarchs were buried inside of Westminster Abbey, and the only real outlier in this was King Henry VIII who was buried at St Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle. But in the centuries after, the tombs of the Tudor monarchs were opened and broken into, by a curious dean of Westminster Abbey, who found out some remarkable secrets.

Claire Ridgeway should be aware of this information but I think the leading authority on the Monarchs of Britain would be Saved Starkey and I have watched a video on his TH-cam channel that talks of their relationship, I think that is where I heard the information about the nickname Luxy infact.

    Absolutely brilliant. One critique, though, if I may. Mary I deserves better than to be repeatedly called "Bloody Mary". Few have had better reason to be as angry and vengeful. Her entire adult life was one shocking injustice after another. She displayed, always, the very utmost in dignity, grace, and strength. And she did the right thing taking the throne. She COULD have taken it from Edward, but didn't. She could have executed Elizabeth, but didn't. Mary is a complex character, but above all else, she WAS a Queen, and just deserves better than a child's game nickname to be remembered by.

Her Father, Henry VIII founded the Protestant Church of England because he wouldn't be granted leisure to divorce and remarry at random. Surely, you know at least that much. Mary took her rightful place as Queen after Edward's death and did her duty to the Church. She was no more bloody than any Monarch before or after her. Her life was tragic, she did what she believed was right, and she deserves better than to be remembered as some child's tale. Learn your history from sources other than Showtime, and then come talk to me. My PhD is always looking for a new theory to debate.

    • @Sarmatae1
      @Sarmatae1 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@bellarose8511 Also, the mythology has become inflated over time. Mary only ordered the executions of 287 Protestants including 56 women. When I say "only", I mean as opposed to the rest of England. It was widely-enough understood that Mary herself had been through something similar when she was forced to sign her father's Oath that most of the realm's Protestants were willing to say yes to save their lives, and continue to believe what they wanted in private. The ones she had executed displayed outright rebellion against the Queen's authority. Mary was neither cruel, nor vengeful. She never WANTED to execute anyone, and went to great lengths to avoid it when she should have done it sooner (Jane Grey), but she was a Queen during one of England's most tumultuous eras. You can't allow open rebellion. If you don't shut it down, it will grow bigger than you.
      Sorry if I came off angry in my last reply. I WAS angry, but it wasn't at you. I love people who are interested in history, and I don't believe shouting at them will make them want to stick around and learn more. I apologize. I DO hope you make it worth your time to learn more about Mary I. Her story reads like a telenovela, and she was every bit the lady throughout. I think if you get to know her, you'll like her.
