lovely images of the Meteor Alan. the roundel is just sublime. half expected to see someone asleep in the engine!!
As a youngster I was fascinated by all things aeronautical. my dad used to take me to the air shows that were held at the airport in Swansea. I remember being excited and terrified in the same breath at things like the EE Lightning (my favourite aeroplane of all time) and the MD Phantom.
I also remember being sick on the bus on the way home too!!! thanks for bringing back those memories :-)

Cheers Nick. If I had to pick a favourite aircraft it would have to be the Avro Vulcan, the noise that thing made was just amazing.

@@photographyforenjoyment I can remember them flying really low over our house quite regularly when I was a very small lad. they were a terrifying sight - and sound. another old favourite was the Victor. I used to love watching those in-flight refuelling films. Right, I'm off up the loft to dig out my old aircraft books now :-)
BTW, I left you a message on IG :-)

Very enjoyable video (too short) as always Alan and I’m glad to see you walking around and fully recovered. Very nice photos, my favorites are the detail shots, really well done, you’re getting very good at this photography “stuff”🤣I am an aviation enthusiast, I even went as far as taking flying lesson, until I realized that I didn’t know why I was doing it (LOL), so I went in the opposite direction and became a certified scuba diver. Converting an airport into a hotel, now that's a great idea, I never heard of anything like it, I’m surprised that it wasn't turned into a shopping mall. On a separate note....., I’m used to seeing you with a Think-tank bag very similar to my Retrospective 5, today I see you with what looks like a new Lowepro shoulder bag, the strap looks very comfortable. Be well, stay safe and take care of you.

Thanks Enrique and well spotted over the bag! I still have the ThinkTank but I also dug out my Slingshot 200AW recently as it's a little better for carrying the EM-1 + 2 lenses + GoPro + audio recorder. The Retrospective isn't being retired, I think its more suitable for me around the city. The video is actually 2 weeks old, I uploaded it in advance of my operation.

@@photographyforenjoyment Got it, I hope that your recovery is going well and fast, or better yet, completed.

I happened upon your channel and just subscribed. I like photography, Bristol Britannias, the UK (I’m Canadian) and your channel’s title.
Also I see that you sold cameras back in the eighties which gives you a different slant on analog gear than , eg, millennials who now take an interest.
Talking about « vintage » aviation, I was born a tad too late (1963) to appreciate the once-available public viewing areas at larger airports, where whole families could go and make a Sunday afternoon of it.
I noticed while flying out of Manchester in 2016, though, some group or other created a big earthen mound outside the perimeter fence near a runway where I saw photographers gathered, so you’re not shooting through a chain-link fence.

Hello John, hello Canada, and many thanks for both commenting and subscribing! Yes, Liverpool John Lennon airport is fairly small and is poorly served by the two viewing areas; the original terminal building in this particular video does hark back to the 'old days' when security was much less of an issue!
As for my background, sales was a part of it for sure but my career choices involved me being in many different aspects of photography including processing, very large format repro-photography, aerial photography as well as professional weddings/portraits.
So this small channel is just a way for me to put across my (sometimes dated) views, and to hopefully inspire people to go out and enjoy it!
