Ive been doing them for years still a thang in east tn. Got several guns chokes etc. Its a science and Im pretty successful at it. This year Ive won a pile of sausage bacon. Some ribeyes turkeys pork loin spiral hams etc. Im retired leo so I got plenty of time. Of all the guns I have my most succesful one is an old Iver johnson made around 1890. Old gun is choked .637. Have a lot of fun and usually bring something home. Use to have a money shoot but for some reason they cancelled it. FYI try to have more than one gun. They get hot if you rotate them your chances will be better. If its cold I will put mine in truck bed let them get good and cold. Yeah Always loved shooting but at 62 thats something I really like doing

You are correct in that it is a science. I have seen guys bring guns that they haven't shot in a decade to a shoot and then complain that they aren't getting good results. Each gun shoots differently and patterning before a shoot is important.

Your using the wrong choke... Carlson's and many other's like Hastings make a 'card shoot' choke specifically for Turkey Shoots... Look for a .640 constriction... Otherwise your odds of winning go down drastically... Nothing wrong with your gun... It's your choke... Search for "Best Card Shoot Chokes"...

Due to obligations I wasn't able to get to the shoot at all in 2022. Shut down earlier than before.
