Wow, I'm really impressed with your dedication to slime science. Is there anything in 1.5 you'd like to see, to make slime breeding more fun? If so, I will consider it. Thank you
CA!! Wow, I just want to say thanks for everything you do. I think the most appealing aspects of slime ranching are the color-based drops. Less RNG and/or more information when it comes to a slime’s color might open the possibilities of slime ranching being used for aesthetics or resource gathering. Also, the slime hutch is typically an “end-game” feature and its appeal is slightly negated by the large footprint the hutch takes up on your farm.
Ultimately, I probably lean toward a smaller hutch and rare item drops if I were to recommend anything. I tend to go a little overboard in my playthroughs and I bet it’s a difficult balancing act when trying to make changes without breaking the game
I would like to suggest that slimes with any RGB value of 250 or higher drop diamonds. Also more slime types, like elemental (wind, lightning and so on) would be great. As a bonus idea for slimes, it would be fun to put hats on slimes or ride them. Maybe a slime combiner device to make larger slimes.
@@TheZalpha The best part of slime ranching for me, is going way overboard! A bigger slime hutch, or upgrade, or furniture item that keeps slimes from running away in the night is the direction I would like to see it go. I don't want better drops or weird slimes, I want ludicrous amounts of them! Can slimes in the hutch have the gold star? I'd be cool if that was genetic too, because then my dresser would have ~200 boots in it...
Maybe new rare iridium star slimes that can only result form breeding very rarely, and they would drop iridium ore or something rare. This would make players farm a lot of slimes to try to get it
How about making it clear that you can even get such drops from slime farming?
I have never bothered doing anything with slimes, until I saw a post on Reddit about these Videos.

I haven't seen someone kill this much time to test a single idea in SV since DF was still uploading it daily. Good job, man. I hope CA reduces the size of the hutch like you mentioned, it is quite an ugly amount of space used up. Maybe turn it into a hatch in the ground that leads to a "cellar" like structure that houses the slimes, making the actual "outside" structure super small while still maintaining a reasonable method housing them?

If I was to breed slimes I would definitely try to black slimes. I love the idea of a sustainable coal source.
this is a great point and i feel the same way. black slimes are also easier to maintain (my herd is averaging ~40 for each RGB value) so they are unlikely to increase enough to stop producing coal consistently
The witch event turns all of your slimes in a hutch into black slimes so that part is easy unless you want them outdoors
yeah, that with purple slimes for iridium too and you can get 1500g per iridium bar (with blacksmith profession) could probably make a lot of money without being too hard to set up
I also tried breeding perfect white slimes in the past but ended up with light grey slimes instead... This must have taken very long so thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work
This is why i farm diamonds with excessive crystalariums, it may cost a bit of money but its way easier to pull off

And for sure since you are figuring things out for the first time and starting blind, this video might help those that are willing to have a slime ranch like this and might get it sooner than you because of this video :D

This was a great video. I originally liked the whole slime breeding mechanic because I love monster breeding and the idea of having my own slimes sounded nice but I never imagined the slime breedIng mechanics were this complex and useful.

I… I did this by accident… my slime hutch is all white Diamond slimes…. I started with tiger, red, black, and purple. And yeah… ended up with white ones that drop refined quartz and diamonds (both). It’s cool but strange that it just happened randomly…

You did it! You cracked the code. Would be nice if we got a little pdf for our farmer that detects the RBG values of the slimes so we didnt need a mod
This is actually really useful information just for understanding how to get white and yellow slimes for ore farming. It's still not as efficient as the mines, but more satisfying.

Yeah, that was painful. But I still don't get in the first video how none of your white slimes were giving diamonds. Any white slime should have a 1 in 8 chance of all their RGB being even (50% for each factor, right). Once you have a white slime breeding farm, you should get 1/8th of them to be producing diamonds.
yeah; i may have a back-up of the save from that point in time that's worth looking at using the data mining feature of the Lookup Anything mod.
if i had to guess, i think most of the slime herd was likely maxed out (255/255/255 RGB across the board). breeding mechanics make it very unlikely to get even values from their offspring since the only way is relying on the -0-25% random value being passed for each color. if i find the file and look into it, i'll let you know!
fantastic work, never seen a diamond slime before, glad they exist; the 1/8 breeding situation pretty much sucks. I wonder if we could get CA (or a modder) to implement some item that reduces that chance, for a real slime ranching experience. I will say however that as soon as you said that you were aiming for 255 at 4:16 I audibly said "Even bro" :D

Every time he says something like "Slime Ranch" I'm just like "STOP REMINDING ME HOW MUCH I WANT SLIME BREEDING IN SLIME RANCHER!!" XD Which btw! Slime Rancher is my FAVE indie game! So seeing him basically make 2D Slime Rancher but in Stardew Valley... Man... I might make a Slime farm myself one day JUST cos I am.... Uh... A tad..... Obsessed with Slime Rancher... And by a tad I mean over 400 hours of game time and got two copies of the physical slimepedia cos first edition and second edition. I also have A LOT of game time in Stardew Valley too... So.. Uh.... Yeah I like these types of games where you can just waste hours and hours and hours XD Why live real life when you can live pixelated life? Especially in 2020.... I don't think many people lived real life in that year... *cough* animal crossing

Without lookup anything, this system seems to be a random reward for those farming iron slimes to occasionally get diamonds. Unless... There is a way to distinguish even rgb slimes by another method? Behavior perhaps? Testing needs to be done on odd vs even slimes comparing behavior or possibly speed of animations? The theories must be tested!
there's a TON of data on the slimes using the mod but i haven't seen any difference between the even and odd ones... yet.

I started to make white slime when breeding green and blue and tiger breeds and I got diamond and quartz bar if it work for U it will actually works
I just wanted light colored slimes, don't care about the diamonds. However, the ones I bred drop multiple refined quartz, which I find much more useful than diamonds anyway...

Hey do you think it would be valuable to have slimes that drop each ore type in different pens so you can have ores without mining?
that's what i set up in the video after this (ultimate slime farm) + black slimes to drop coal. I think it looks awesome and i love the idea but it's not as efficient as mining by a pretty large margin
@@brandiganBTW true but I did see on that list of slime drops that purple slimes have a 25% chance of dropping Iridium ore. Do you think mass farming of just the purple would be useful or just stick with mining?
