The full story is this: In December 2022 I returned home from university for the Christmas break. As soon as I got home, I realised I'd missed my best friend so much that we went to Macdonald's not 30 minutes after I'd arrived home so we could see each other and just chat. We got our food and sat down to eat, only to get our ears violated by VERY loud Christmas music. We searched frantically for the source of the noise, which I'd originally assumed was one of our phones going off, only to spy a large, red sleigh that was clearly a car that had modified to look perfectly like a sleigh. Inside the sleigh sat four people; Elsa, the Grinch, an Elf and a lady that was in her coat looking very embarrassed. The reason we were so perplexed about the direction of the noise was because it had just come out of the drive through and was on its way elsewhere. I have a video of me and my friend giggling to ourselves about it!
The amount of instant gratification I felt when I saw the tree sentinel set at #1 made me feel like a proud parent, or a drunk man who's favorite sports team just won the playoffs, I spent an unhealthy amount of time fishing for good armor sets for my tank-paladin build, resolutely ignoring the bullgoat set's 99 poise, and when I saw the tree sentinel set, I knew it was the best I was gonna get, and to see that a youtuber agreed with me on this means that I'm going on to the next chapter of my life a little more conceited than before, Thanks Rusty
Yep, I've done the same thing plenty of times. I have had the crucible and tree sentinel sets as my personal favorites for a while (both for looks/lore and for practicality), and to see the actual numbers back that up is really gratifying.
somehow my heart led me to wear it on my first playthrough and so far it's been my favorite set in the base game. however now that there's rakshasa set of armor that literally just boosts your damage i'll probably always be going with it instead of the tree sentinel, cus as bushy says, more damage, more gooder.
Tree Sentinel set literally carried me my first time through the Malenia fight... as a sorcerer. Real. And its chestpiece has a permanent spot in one of my favorite new mixed sets, with the End of DLC headpiece, Bullgoat arms and legs, and Bullgoat talisman to break 101 poise while maintaining drip.
This would honestly be a decent build. People can talk shit all they want, Vyke's is a solid weapon. Tree Sent will leave you tanky. And Night Comet and Catch Flame don't even have any ludicrous requirements for how strong they are.
Rusty himself said he probably should've put Mogwhyn's Sacred Spear at #1 on the weapon list... Bloodboon Ritual IS also his #1 best unique weapon skill... And I thought his #1 incantation was Burn, O Flame?
Respect for the darkest dungeon reference with the highwaymen set. One of my characters is actually an unclean giant cosplay, and a friend of mine has reynauld in his character line up. We also once encountered a shield breaker cosplay putting their sign down at radahn. I briefly once made one of my characters the flagellent. My buddy briefly had another of his characters as the bone commander enemy. We did way more cosplays from that game than I realized, yeesh.
It would be at most 126^4 armor set combinations (minus some because not all sets have all 4 pieces). 126! would be the number of ways you can order this list.
Nodding vigorously at the description of Scaled set. I rode that bad boy till the wheels fell off. Every time I tried to switch to something else I would eventually come crawling back. That's definitely the look I most associate with my first blind playthrough.
It really is the peoples armor. It’s just a shame you have to kill Istvan for it because he’s literally just a good bro, but it’s very hard to justify not doing that when the set is that good and goes that hard with the blackflame monk hood.
On NG I switched back to Vagabond knight armor, because I love the rag tag look of it, but eventually I figured stronger armor might not hurt, and Scaled seems like such an obvious successor!
This is the video that has the most amount of people who would care, so I’ll drop the most op armor setup right here; Briar helm (or royal knight helm) Tree sentinel armor Briar gauntlets Tree sentinel greaves Bull-goat talisman It gets you to 101 poise (the max value that matters) with as light a setup as possible, which means most enemy attacks won’t stagger you at all. The resistances are very good as mentioned in this video, and the utility of damage on rolls is very convenient as it can stagger weaker enemies. Highly recommend
Just gotta thank for the idea, used this to poisebreak Midra constantly and win the fight. Legit poisedecay was getting me killed so having free hits on the boss with decent protection felt nice
I usually skip ranking videos to only see the best, specially if they're long. This guy managed to make it fun to watch and informative. That was a really good video!
A lot of weapon classes will deal 50 poise damage in one hit, so 51 is a good number to aim for in PvP, because it allows you to take a single hit without getting stance-broken
@@DarknessIsTheTruthIt was more relevant pre-1.12. (The current breakpoints are unknown due to poise damage changes in today’s patch.) 51 poise was relevant in PvP to avoid being staggered by one-off pokes like lighter weapons like straights swords, thrusting swords, etc. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it can help slower weapons trade and let you push aggressively.
I’m mostly a casual gamer. Never got good at understanding the nuances of massive games like Elden ring or the hidden stats or the complicated items and such, but it made me pretty happy that I progressively rocked the top 3 armors in this video just naturally based on the basic stats I saw lol

@@antifurryfoundation55 I honestly don't know, there has to be a reason so many people think the dlc comes out today right? I mean the Bandai Namco Europe TH-cam account posted the launch trailer today and those only really go out on the day of release
Yeah I was so disappointed when I realized that other vid was just fashion. I just don’t care about my appearance so much to put on much worse sets to look nicer. That and the fact armor stats aren’t near as negligible as I see some people saying, at least in my opinion
Missed opportunity here ranking things by set, when some sets have individual pieces that perform above or below the rest of their set. Like the Dirty Chainmail, or Rennala's banana hat.
As a Carian Knight set enjoyer: it deserves to be a little lower. The shit poise for the weight is frankly pathetic for a set that looks as good as it does.
The amount of seratonin flowing into my brain when Rusty tells me the Tree Sentinel armor is #1 as I watch this video while farming runes wearing the full set
I’ve been rocking this set on my first playthrough ( just beat mohg) Had no clue it would literally be ranked #1. Amazing set. I have a whole gallery of my guy in TS gear haha.
Good video bro, I just mix my armor sets, I have my endurance way higher than i need because I hated menu swapping my equipment and wanted a light roll but my number one necessity when it comes to armor is the briar armor with even one piece you can stagger enemies when you roll into them , even MELANIA sometimes and it’s so useful when you fight her, you can dodge into her and interrupt some attacks
This man's ranking videos single handedly are making me reconsider how I build and play this game in general. If you wanna go back and do these ranking videos for every single Soulsborne game to throw stats at me for another 100+ hours, I'd be more than thrilled.
Would honestly love to see the idea of ranking save/grace points. Found it fascinating that these various fragments of grace would find themselves here. Still this was a great video!
I like that idea, but it might be a better subject for a video essay on level design philosophy or something. I just finished up Liurnia and Raya Lucaria and there's like 4 grace points just sitting in the middle of the swamp and like 8 more circling the outside, plus several that are just warp points for locations like the Church of Vows, Caria Manor, etc. Most of the individual spots just seem to be practical checkpoints so I'm not sure what anyone could say about most of them in a ranked list, unfortunately.
I use the Chain set quite a bit in the early game, and I think it's awesome. I care most about Standard Physical negation, because that damage type is so common, and the set excels at that even considering its weight. The set does fall off later in the game. The other sets I usually take the time to farm are Cleanrot and Banished Knight. Crucible and Tree Sentinel are indeed OP.
Impressive work; a lot of time consumed to bring this to me, a lot of nice graphics and referential resources I can use, and I'm even more happy it was entertaining to watch and that my current set build is made out of only top-20 level pieces.
Bro is speaking facts about the confessor set, I have been using that set since day one. After gathering a bunch of sets I was looking at them wondering "Why the heck are majority of these low weight armor sets lower than the confessor?", and this video answered the specific why.
Yea cause a bunch of you clown following sheep seen one person asking for a st Trina torch vid. Then proceeded to copy and paste it instead of asking for a weapon you really wanted. Sheep definitely flock🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
I took Radahn set all the way from there to end-game and it did not disappoint. Radahn is probably my go-to tank set for the base game. (Solitude set is a must-get for tank builds going into DLC content, there's a mausoleum northwest of the starting grace whose boss drops the set)
49:00 I think this is something that was actually mentioned in your weapon scaling video if i remember correctly, its not that the night cavalry are "weak" to lightning, its that they are so damn resistant to every other type of damage in the game (except pierce as well oddly enough) that lightning damage is really the only viable option to do decent damage, so the armor having decent lightning resistance doesnt not make sense i guess
Just wanted to say that I love your videos, they're very good for me to listen to in the background, and this one's no exception! Also, I just realised that all the nice shots of all the armors also makes this video, as well as your other Elden Ring ones, actually really good as reference videos for how the armor looks and stuff! There's other videos like that that also show it on the male player model, but I just find it neat that this one can work like that too since I've been meaning to get around to learn how to draw the armors and stuff in this game. Hope you're having a good day!
Ahhh, let's go, Traveler's Set! It was my main armor set through most of the base game and all the DLC. Love the fashion plus being able to wield heavy weapons while keeping a light overall weight.
Level 20 : You can fully unlock the abilities of one early game weapon. Level 60 : You have enough hp to not die in one or two hits. Level 120 : You can actually hit hard with one thing. Level 150 : You can actually hit hard with multiple things. Level 200 : You are legitimately hard to kill. Level 300 : You have enough stamina to wear things that don't make you look like a homeless cosplayer, AND simultaneously are able to play the game.
Bandai is a publisher. Not a developer, at least not in the Souls Formula games. Sure, they have a fair amount of sway on the marketing, but after 15years of Souls formula games, I can confidently say FromSoftware knows how to make a trailer
I personally dont get it, shouldnt this list be nearly entirely about the best weight to physical damage negation or weight to poise ratio? Who gives a sht if it has bad lightning resistance? Or lots of immunity? Or any of those. Sure if I walk through a poison swamp i might put on something with great Immunity for the moment or if im fighting a lightning dragon i put on armor that fits the occasion. But most enemies just do physical attacks. So except for the few rare cases where im struggling with an elemental enemy why should those stats really matter?
For the confessor's set I usually found myself swapping the gauntlets and legs to get me above 51 poise, but even then is usually run it as is for fashion purposes. It carried me through the entirety of the base game, no amount of armor would've saved me from some of the dumb mistakes I made lol. But I'm glad it ranked so high!
Yo! I spent most of the game in the tree sentinel armor after I got it just because I liked the tree sentinel fights. Had no idea how to evaluate an armor set and was sure it was going to be like 80 something when I started this video. Got progressively happier as I watched.
Hey mind telling me what the mod for the armor at 4:18 and 36:57 is? Can't seem to find it in the nexus and it looks so much better than any actual in game armor. Thanks.

The amount of instant gratification I felt when I saw the tree sentinel set at #1 made me feel like a proud parent, or a drunk man who's favorite sports team just won the playoffs, I spent an unhealthy amount of time fishing for good armor sets for my tank-paladin build, resolutely ignoring the bullgoat set's 99 poise, and when I saw the tree sentinel set, I knew it was the best I was gonna get, and to see that a youtuber agreed with me on this means that I'm going on to the next chapter of my life a little more conceited than before,
Thanks Rusty
Yep, I've done the same thing plenty of times. I have had the crucible and tree sentinel sets as my personal favorites for a while (both for looks/lore and for practicality), and to see the actual numbers back that up is really gratifying.
@@SheffiTB They indeed look really good!
somehow my heart led me to wear it on my first playthrough and so far it's been my favorite set in the base game. however now that there's rakshasa set of armor that literally just boosts your damage i'll probably always be going with it instead of the tree sentinel, cus as bushy says, more damage, more gooder.
That’s what I run too. Had the biggest blue numbers, no further thought from me
One of these days I want to make a meme character that is entirely based on the #1 for every one of your videos.
I get the hate for the number one weapon but make it work my boy💀
Good luck with Vykes war spear
This would honestly be a decent build.
People can talk shit all they want, Vyke's is a solid weapon. Tree Sent will leave you tanky. And Night Comet and Catch Flame don't even have any ludicrous requirements for how strong they are.
You should make one for last place too...

In three years from now this man is gonna be doing all 126! (126 factorial) armor set combinations and I'm still gonna be watching.
It would be at most 126^4 armor set combinations (minus some because not all sets have all 4 pieces). 126! would be the number of ways you can order this list.
I don't think there'd even be enough seconds left in the universe if you wanted to write down 126! in digits at like 100 digits per second
@@chrayez meh, its been years since i had to use it correctly but you got the point, lol
Wouldve been better to have a top 5 most fashionable sets
Nodding vigorously at the description of Scaled set. I rode that bad boy till the wheels fell off. Every time I tried to switch to something else I would eventually come crawling back. That's definitely the look I most associate with my first blind playthrough.
It really is the peoples armor. It’s just a shame you have to kill Istvan for it because he’s literally just a good bro, but it’s very hard to justify not doing that when the set is that good and goes that hard with the blackflame monk hood.
@@Arrakiz666This is the exact armor composition I used on my Heretic character. It looks so good.
On NG I switched back to Vagabond knight armor, because I love the rag tag look of it, but eventually I figured stronger armor might not hurt, and Scaled seems like such an obvious successor!
After today's patch, you can use Torrent in the Elden Beast fight! A whole year later!
Actually over 2
Yeah over 2 years actually
Wait what?
What. Why? It's not that hard on foot. 💀

This is the video that has the most amount of people who would care, so I’ll drop the most op armor setup right here;
Briar helm (or royal knight helm)
Tree sentinel armor
Briar gauntlets
Tree sentinel greaves
Bull-goat talisman
It gets you to 101 poise (the max value that matters) with as light a setup as possible, which means most enemy attacks won’t stagger you at all. The resistances are very good as mentioned in this video, and the utility of damage on rolls is very convenient as it can stagger weaker enemies. Highly recommend
If you use the Royal Knight Helm variation, you can hide the fact that Briar looks good with none of the Tree Sentinel pieces (put on a fist weapon)
That was a really good video!

literally 40 minutes from time of posting.
Already in let's go Aus lol 🇦🇺

Don’t forget that she’s called “OF THE *FULL MOON”*
and her hat resembles anything but that
Rennala's hat should inflict madness on enemies. I sure know I would go a little crazy if someone wearing a pingus on their head invaded my world.
38 poise is a good stat line to look for on lighter armor since it gets you up to the 51 breakpoint with goat charm.
What's the deal with the "51 breakpoint" thing anyway? Why that number specifically?
A lot of weapon classes will deal 50 poise damage in one hit, so 51 is a good number to aim for in PvP, because it allows you to take a single hit without getting stance-broken
@@genericname6505 Ah, okay. Thanks.
@@DarknessIsTheTruthIt was more relevant pre-1.12. (The current breakpoints are unknown due to poise damage changes in today’s patch.)
51 poise was relevant in PvP to avoid being staggered by one-off pokes like lighter weapons like straights swords, thrusting swords, etc.
Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it can help slower weapons trade and let you push aggressively.
@@pterodummy51 is still a relevant PvE benchmark for poise
I’m mostly a casual gamer. Never got good at understanding the nuances of massive games like Elden ring or the hidden stats or the complicated items and such, but it made me pretty happy that I progressively rocked the top 3 armors in this video just naturally based on the basic stats I saw lol
18 months ago, man, I was in rehab watching your videos for my 1 allowed video a week lmfao, thanks for helping me pull through!
Next video should be rating NPCs by how dateable they are. Seluvis gets last place
*first place
Nepheli gets first place for being the most respectful of your time and independence of the conventional waifu choices while not being vanilla ice cream like Melina.
@@hammeroftyr Seconded. She's also an unambiguously good person, and I get the feeling that the world is a better place having finished her quest. The fact that she gets the rare, coveted happy ending in a Fromsoft game is so satisfying.
I like the implication that you'd prefer even Dungeater over Seluvis XD
@@falcoon_f_zero9450 It’s less I’d prefer the dung eater and more that Seluvis would be such a negative experience because he wouldn’t talk about any of his own hobbies and would just judge you then force you to pay. Dung would go one spot above him literally just because I think he would want to split the bill
Ever since the all weapons ranking video, Rustys brain has never been the same
my man strategically releasing this video in time for the dlc release
33:45 I feel like I can hear the smile in that delivery. Loved the video. Hilarious, but still pretty informative and somewhat concise. The footage was nice to look at too, felt like a little fashion show. 👍
mausoleum knight armour is the best in the game because you can then cosplay the winged hussars with it.
Releasing an hour long video the same day as the DLC? You are a KING.
The day before. The dlc comes out tomorrow.
@@antifurryfoundation55I think it came out today in some regions
@@antifurryfoundation55 it depends on the time zone you braindead middle schooler
@@Spiderpig673 you may just be thinking of the demo that some souls TH-camrs got to play.

Certainly glad we got the Fashion Souls list out of the way before getting practical.
Regarding the Duelist Set, the Zamor Bracelets are perfect for it.
The bandages aren’t shown but the chain remains, which fits the Duelists.
As a Carian Knight set enjoyer: it deserves to be a little lower. The shit poise for the weight is frankly pathetic for a set that looks as good as it does.
1:00:23 how the heck are you dodging like that, is it a mod? you even do it in a forward direction, it looks like the bloodborne dodge animation
Think it's the Quick step ash of war
The amount of seratonin flowing into my brain when Rusty tells me the Tree Sentinel armor is #1 as I watch this video while farming runes wearing the full set
I’ve been rocking this set on my first playthrough ( just beat mohg)
Had no clue it would literally be ranked #1. Amazing set. I have a whole gallery of my guy in TS gear haha.
Same, I kept it because it looked awesome.
Best fahsion for paladins and stats
@@giorgigogoladze4190 My only problem with it is that the shoulder pieces are way to wide but I still use it a lot.

a full armor ranking the day the DLC comes out, this “Rusty” is quite the character
The cowboy bepop ost in backround is amazing
Came here hunting for this exact comment
You're gonna carry that weight
The resignation when addressing the Omen Set is what I watch for... truly a blessing of despair!
no way rusty just called me out while i'm wearing a graphic tee and cargo pants
Great vid! Now make one for each possible combination of armor pieces
2,656,615,626 at most also not true number since there some sets that are only 2-3 pieces but if all of them have a full set that's the number
Tree Sentinel set my beloved, you haven't aged a day.
“Goddamnit Rusty!”

You really don't have anything going on in life do you?🤡 just wake up in that basement and look forward to youtube 😂
The FFX Glyph track is pure nostalgia for me. Warms my heart and makes me feel at home within these videos.
Now rank every rusty ranking video lol
Rank your mom
This is vile! I love it!
Still haven't got the Runebears ranking that Vaati requested
Loved your HK vids man and that brought me to your other vids love you man.
First the chasethebro saint trina torch video and now a rusty upload? My day keeps getting better snd better
Yea cause a bunch of you clown following sheep seen one person asking for a st Trina torch vid. Then proceeded to copy and paste it instead of asking for a weapon you really wanted. Sheep definitely flock🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Oh there was **cough** the dlc
Rusty your video and voice popping up on my youtube bring me so much pessimistic joy
1:06 This video is too long for me to narrow it down, but what is this armor? I have never seen the cape and hood before, it looks like a cloak.
Its fia's clothes I think
In 0:20 The Leyndell Armor doesn't have the normal rectangular addition on its chest. How did Rusty remove this piece?
Good fuckin work with this one. Exceptionally high quality for a video that's so long on a topic thats so hard to be definitive.
I love how aggressively-nice rusty is
I took Radahn set all the way from there to end-game and it did not disappoint. Radahn is probably my go-to tank set for the base game.
(Solitude set is a must-get for tank builds going into DLC content, there's a mausoleum northwest of the starting grace whose boss drops the set)
why is the bullgoat and ronin armor rankings swapped?? at 1:00:57 it says the bullgoat is in 6th and the ronin is at 15th
He also says the draconic set is the heaviest so far after talking about bill goat. Bro definitely changed his mind while he was editing
49:00
I think this is something that was actually mentioned in your weapon scaling video if i remember correctly, its not that the night cavalry are "weak" to lightning, its that they are so damn resistant to every other type of damage in the game (except pierce as well oddly enough) that lightning damage is really the only viable option to do decent damage, so the armor having decent lightning resistance doesnt not make sense i guess
Love your content brother I’m kinda late to the Elden Ring party but I love what you did 👌🏾
Just wanted to say that I love your videos, they're very good for me to listen to in the background, and this one's no exception!
The Tree Sentinels spartan like asthetics is just the cherry on top, such a good set and deserving of number 1.
1:45 no way he disrespects wingstop fries like that
Yeah, it should have been In n Out fries.
Worthless, tasteless pieces of cardboard.
Ahhh, let's go, Traveler's Set! It was my main armor set through most of the base game and all the DLC. Love the fashion plus being able to wield heavy weapons while keeping a light overall weight.
Glad to see the Radahn and Banished sets so high up - t hose have been my go to set pieces basically since launch.
This made me feel less ass at level 106. I appreciate you
So GiantDad wins again, huh? Never Fails.

I can’t believe I watched an hour long video on TH-cam. Good stuff man
Have we all seen the newest trailer? Bandai is cooking a storm
Bandai is a publisher. Not a developer, at least not in the Souls Formula games. Sure, they have a fair amount of sway on the marketing, but after 15years of Souls formula games, I can confidently say FromSoftware knows how to make a trailer
I'm not sure making the final boss RADAHN and making the right another Lorian and Lothric deal is "cooking a storm"
Now rank all scarabs.
I started jamming in my seat when you put Price from Persona 5 as the background track at 15:10 😂
For the confessor's set I usually found myself swapping the gauntlets and legs to get me above 51 poise, but even then is usually run it as is for fashion purposes. It carried me through the entirety of the base game, no amount of armor would've saved me from some of the dumb mistakes I made lol. But I'm glad it ranked so high!

100% agree with Tree Sentinel Set. I made a toon running it with Milady and the Haligtree Crest Greatshield. Was a menace in PvP.
my cowboy bebop autism activated when i heard the song playing at 24:24, i love piano black so much
Yo! I spent most of the game in the tree sentinel armor after I got it just because I liked the tree sentinel fights. Had no idea how to evaluate an armor set and was sure it was going to be like 80 something when I started this video. Got progressively happier as I watched.
I just had to pop in to say that I absolutely love the slow pans and I hope you feel genuine pride with your lip and wit because you deserve it.
Hey mind telling me what the mod for the armor at 4:18 and 36:57 is? Can't seem to find it in the nexus and it looks so much better than any actual in game armor. Thanks.
