10:33 small note on this, if you’re on a team that’s running tacticooler, the tacticooler buff actually makes squid surges worth it! just holding down the button for a fraction of a second instantly fully charges a surge, letting you climb super fast and take more aggressive plays with it because of the armor! this is the only time squid surge will ever be worth it probably

it’s interesting how a technique as simple as swimming up a wall can have so many little sub-techniques within. perfect example of how in-depth splatoon’s gameplay sandbox is
adding the squid roll and squid surge was honestly a genius way of elevating the skill ceiling of the game without changing existing tech
Talking about painting walls so much is bringing me back to when Splatoon 1 just came out, ah memories
idk how useful this is but when squid rolling off a wall, if you press Y and B both at the same time you can do an instant 180 off the wall

For stringers after the 2.0 buff, I recommend using partial charge jump shots, the new radius paints so much

A buff I think Splat Brella desperately needs but nobody mentions is its wall paint. From far away it is fine, but if you are right next to the wall your shots paint practically NOTHING which makes escaping a NIGHTMARE
Can't you get a decent horizontal spread by standing close to the wall and firing at an angle into it? Very useful especially on hydroplant when you get a brella

You can’t escape from Mariah carey, not even in splatoon
If you think about it, the ink is a type of acid because it burns itself into anything so your squid form will fit inside completely. Your squid form isn't flat normally, plus the ink burns through other inklings. There you go, a random theory
I'm pretty sure inklings are actually MADE OF INK. Some bendy shit. You can merge into your own ink, but not enemy ink so if you get covered in too much you just kinda. Separate like a failed icing as it gets into your pores and destabilizes your form.

I'm a little surprised you didn't mention that burst bombs are really good wall painters. I feel like it's the main way carbon deco rollers and splatana stampers (and to a lesser extent splash o matics) climb walls

A lot of this is very map dependant because some maps are very flat and have few walls but some have a ton of them.

Question, what would you do as a decently good player, do to help the influx of newbies have a good time? I’m on a “don’t splat newbies” policy for today but maybe there are other things we can do?
One thing to add: Busrt Bombs! Need a wall painted immediately? A burst bomb should do the trick!
whenever i play carbon deco on flounder heights i spend any downtime burst bombing the walls around mid, it not only gives me more movement options but it also paints over enemy ink very thoroughly

With intensify action I think squid surging gets up walls slightly faster than mashing, could be wrong though
I believe I tested with 2 mains and it didn't but even if that's wrong, there are much better things to use gear for than just getting Squid Surge up to the same level of capability as something you can have for free.
@@SquidSchool Squid Surge is useful, just not for faster movement for a fully inked wall.
Never knw about the mashing to get up the wall faster, I feel dumb now >_

It blows my mind that someone who makes videos about completly obvious things gets so much attention. Splatoon community really has gotten terrible.
Not everyone knows these things. If you do good for you just don't hate on others who are just now learning this. It's not like he's teaching us that you can climb up walls, he's teaching us techniques that the game doesn't tell you.
it blows my mind that someone who is not the target audience for a video gets so angry about a generally helpful video for beginners and feels the need to leave a completely unnecessary and rude comment with no constructive criticism or additional advice. You really are just terrible

It is literally Xmas today. So many people will get splatoon for the first time. Just because you’re a S+50 sweat and you know this doesn’t mean others are the same. I don’t need it but many new people will
A lot of this isn't obvious. Mashing being faster than surge is super unintuitive, and right side peek advantage is only well known to other shooter players. He's constantly saying things I've never heard before, or explaining things in a way I'd never thought about before.
But honestly, I just watch cause I'm bored and want to watch his content, he seems nice and knows what he's talking about, even if a lot of the info is redundant to returning players or people coming from other games.
