But yeah, there's a few things that bother me, like Knuckles seems to jump at the same height as Sonic in this animation, when he actually has a lower jump height ingame, I feel like it'd have been a nice touch making Knuckles' jumps a little lower

This is just the sonic 2 animation but with knuckles, I at least expected him to do something in hidden palace zone, where he was before the adventure started, not much changed other than “oh no” and that one bit of gliding in metropolis. But I think this was just him testing out knuckles animation, so it’s fine
But that slip up in hidden palace with the counting was... noticeable

I like to think the "Knuckles" version of Sonic 2 is canon, Sonic CD can explain why Sonic wasn't around (he was busy fighting a time travelling Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic), Knuckles had to deal with Robotnik's antics on West Side Island.
Like originally it WAS Sonic fighting Robotnik on West Side Island, but due to messing with the Time Stones the timeline got messed up, so Knuckles ended up taking Sonic's place on West Side Island while Sonic dealt with Little Planet. It also explains why Tails wasn't around for that adventure.
Is Sonic CD sorta an alternative ending to Sonic 2?

Me too knuckles been my favorite for a long time deserved his respect and hugs and cuddle and cookies and grape he is awesome and badass and it is not his fault he been trick by eggman since he been on angel Island for a long time with nobody with him no friends no family no one just guardian the master emerald or I wish people can stop criticize call him stupid and dumb and native he isn't any of that he is smart as well.
And beside it is the writers fault who made him dumb and the butt of the joke in the first place they should made his characteristics better but no I am happy he getting the respect and redemption he deserves and I am happy they are still knuckles fans out th3y the love they red echidna that we know in love in our hearts.
I wish to see more ships from knuckles and maybe a knuckles harem store's in the future
