And as for Ridge.. I still cannot believe he is not the least bit inquisitive as to why Deacon was in Portofino to see Brooke, but not Bridgit. 🙄

The pIunge in quality is so dramatic it's making my ears pop.

I could have maybe bought it in a weird world of a soap opera kind of way if they had waited at least a few months but right after?? Noooo it’s humanly impossible

The combination of the Ridge and Bridget pairing (🤢) and the Massimo retcon (🙄) just ruined B&B and it was never the same show again. And we have Brad and his mistress to thank for that.

The episode is supposed to be showing us how Brooke, Ridge, and the kids are becoming closer and more like a “family,” but whether intentionally or not, it just illustrates how poorly suited Brooke is to the important mundanity of being a responsible parent. The splashy party with cake and a gelato vendor shows how Brooke can do the big, fun gestures. But is that what’s best for the kids? To me, the last thing three jet-lagged, over-excited, probably sleep-deprived young children returning from a European trip need is a party with sugary gelato and cake. Instead, it would be much better for them to get back to their regular routines with baths, unpacking, prepping for school, and a quiet dinner. And hey, maybe some quality quiet time with their dad, who spent most of their trip dealing with work or running around with Brooke. But suggesting that wouldn’t make Brooke the “fun one” and wouldn’t score points with the kids. It’s the same way Brooke conducts her romances: the drama and passion and angst of the chase is always exciting, but when it comes down to the everyday grind of being a successful and committed partner, she gets bored and follows her heart elsewhere. Bridget’s flashback scenes provide a very telling contrast. No pizzazz-filled gestures for her, but she’s been there for those kids, day after day, in the ways that really matter: cooking them dinner, helping with homework, reading them to sleep. And the payoff can be seen in how much the kids trust and adore her, and feel secure when she’s around. It’s very telling that Bridget, who grew up in such chaos, knows exactly what to do to make distressed children feel safe. Of course, the matter of the disgusting Bridget falling for Ridge storyline must be addressed. But even though Brad executed it in the laziest, most awful way possible, I still maintain that there is a line to be drawn from Bridget’s falling for Ridge back to the childhood Brooke gave her. Bridget grew up without a secure family setting with appropriate boundaries. It’s why I can accept that her taking care of Taylor’s kids helped her to create the safe family scenario she never had. Yet when she finds out that Ridge is not actually her brother, at the same time she sees Brooke and Ridge pairing up again, that threatens what she’s built. Already screwed up by Deacon and her mother’s betrayal, she somehow confuses that childish abandonment fear with romantic feelings. If only Brad had taken the time to do it properly, and had been willing to call out Brooke for the full damage she inflicted.

You actually gave me a different perspective as far as Bridget catching feelings for ridge being due to her mother never showing a loving family dynamic with healthy boundaries. She and Ric watched her go from their brother, to their father, back to their brother and having them both call him Dad (even though we always knew ridge wasn’t Rics father), with a few other men in between to their other brother who was also married. Ric doesn’t even blink an eye that he’s his mothers brother in law and even though at first Bridget showed the appropriate disgust at her and Thornes relationship, she ended up getting over it and even now is encouraging her brother on her. Neither her or Ric have a clue about what a healthy family relationship looks like, but I still don’t think there’s a way they could have wrote this that would have made the viewers think this is acceptable. No matter how much psychological damage Brooke’s caused her, her falling for her brother is not a healthy or appropriate way to react.

This is completely wrong. Bridget's reactions are wrong. She is slowly being pushed by the evil massimo into Ridges arms. She is feeling bad at the party seeing the kids and ridge happy and she is the party pooper. Its one thing being worried about seeing them not getting along and another seeing them happy and bridget looking miserable. Stephanie is supporting her at the moment because she has no idea at this point what her real feelings are. She will then make a 180 and will try to get rid of Bridget and rightly so. Well don't worry this brief interlude with ridge and Bridget will not last long. Ridge actually admits that his feelings were not of romantic love but just caught up in something because of his confusion learning that eric isn't his father and what Brooke did to Bridget. He will then go after Brooke but it will be too late. Enter Nick 😮
The writers ruined the characters in two seasons. All the incestuous storylines. Brooke with Deacon. Ridge and teenage Bridgette. While Eric encourages his ex to hook up with Ridge. And the way they dismissed Taylor's death, brought in throw away Whip and Tricia. I stopped watching for years. Think I came back with new Rick, and Nick.
