West Ham always came into The Boothen but only in small numbers. One game they moved down towards the Boothen Paddock (where Stokes main firm were). The old bill made the mistake of taking them into the paddock instead of walking them round the pitch. They got absolutely battered. I know, I was there. They got trapped inside & it took old bill a while to rescue them then escort them to the Stoke End. After the game Stoke lads went up Butler Street to Lonsdale Street then hid behind graves in St Peters Churchyard. As the ICF passed they got done again. Mind you a few years later Stoke got a kicking on Kingsway car-park on the way to Stoke Railway Station. Stoke followed West Ham then ambushed them on the car-park but another larger group of Hammers ambushed Stoke. Stokies refused to run, so I've been told 😉 and got a good pasting. Hey, could you give me a top 5 list of hooligan books? I read a few, between '97 and '04, but I've no idea about any newer ones. The first one i ever read was the Man City 'Guvnors' book. Then it was the Cardiff 'Soul Crew' book, the Chelsea 'Hoolifan' book, the Birmingham Zulus book, the Everton 'Scally' book, and a handful of others. I was wondering, has any Millwall fan ever written about what went on at their match against Ferencvaros, about 20 years ago? I heard it was pretty crazy, but there's no footage of the fighting on TH-cam. Also, has anyone written about the fighting with the Russians, at the 2016 Euros?
Kind words about my lot (Stoke) Seems like a different life back then. I'm 65 now, and yes. The graveyard, and the back streets of Stoke were where I did my hunting. As you say. No weapons just hand to hand. The Sea Lion in Stoke was where all the tough older guys hung out (ex boxers, doormen etc) It was run by a tough bugger but he'd let the odd few away boys in. You knew if one had got lippy or lairy as he'd be stretched out unconscious while people drank their beer. The fighting was like a drug back then. I've got arthritis in my effing knuckles and wrists now thanks to that.
Read it great book. Naughty was to boring for me tbh. Tranmere Rovers old boy not as they call themselves now the Stanley Boy's we never had a name. But awaydays is about the older boys never used weapons.
My grandad was a stoke fan so was my dad they always said the only thing worse than losing a fight is running away from one . I guess been game was more important to some people. Especially when ya got nothing but your pride. My grandad got trampled on by the police horse's back in the day guess he had a lot of pride not to budge😂
Never forget when I lived in the Bermondsey area think it was around the middle to late 90s and Millwall were playing stoke on a Sunday I kid you not they were in a pub in Bermondsey double early 300 handed and though I never saw nothing but did hear that they caught Millwall out can anyone confirm? I’m West Ham by the way and that graveyard 🪦 and walking towards the ground with the terraced houses I think the road split and it always went off up there especially in those streets good firm stoke 👍
That wasn’t the only time. We done millwall on London Bridge. 70 stoke lads. It was mental. I’m 57 now. About 15 years ago I met a lady sunbathing on the beach in Mexico. We got chatting and she was a retired underground police officer. The conversation got round to that London Bridge battle. I recall about 89. She said it was the worse violence she ever witnessed. Nasty in her words and she said stoke were impressive. I asked who are the worst team to come to London. Leeds she replied. But that was the worst she had seen. Fair play to the millwall. Top firm.

Stoke City have gone up and down all four divisions over the years: Stoke lads are no secret to anyone who follows football - through first hand experience or reliable testimony. I'll never get dewey-eyed about 'the casual era' (I thought it was utter bollocks but I warmed to some of the lads as I got to know them) and I've never read a hooli book. Funny thing is, talking to 'younger' (under 40) lads these days, topic turns to footy and you impart a couple of anecdotes ... I'm often met with the assumption that I got it off some TH-cam upload - like they do. They think they can cite the same reference. Absolutely not. If I was talking about someone else's experiences as seen on a TH-cam upload - I would say exactly that. I don't understand the need to pretend you're someone else.

Bootham Crescent was/is the home of York City. Stoke City's Victoria Ground was on Boothen Road.
Knew bill , worked with him and next door neighbour, generous, funny and family man
Stoke never played at bootham crescent .⚽😎
York City
Yes mate they got that wrong in book Victoria Ground
He does say in the book only stoke and Burnley used to be only the places they’d get trouble in the 70s.

Larry parks( sea lion)
That's the guy, and Terry Allen was my uncle.
Silly sausage
I from Stoke icf good firm stoke always had there boys who where up for a ruck naughty forty one of best firms
Bill was Mile end not ICF.
I have the book a while ago brings back memories
Read it great book. Naughty was to boring for me tbh. Tranmere Rovers old boy not as they call themselves now the Stanley Boy's we never had a name. But awaydays is about the older boys never used weapons.
Stoke a top mob for a number of years- we've had some run in with them over the years home and away. NUFC
Newcastle never had a top firm

I’m West Ham by the way and that graveyard 🪦 and walking towards the ground with the terraced houses I think the road split and it always went off up there especially in those streets good firm stoke 👍
aye it was tropics- they set it alight and gave Millwall a real shock by all accounts. NUFC
Millllll
That wasn’t the only time. We done millwall on London Bridge. 70 stoke lads. It was mental. I’m 57 now. About 15 years ago I met a lady sunbathing on the beach in Mexico. We got chatting and she was a retired underground police officer. The conversation got round to that London Bridge battle. I recall about 89. She said it was the worse violence she ever witnessed. Nasty in her words and she said stoke were impressive. I asked who are the worst team to come to London. Leeds she replied. But that was the worst she had seen. Fair play to the millwall. Top firm.
@@Inmyopinion10101 I was away in Northern Ireland in 89, id heard about it, can't see that happening, and we had Hull come down they were a good firm hull
Yes ur right Stoke run Millwall that day outclassed Millwall
Bootham crescent wasn’t stokes ground it was Victoria Ground

You can tell this is a load of old codswallop when the narrator, a supposed Stoke fan, says Bootham Crescent ground, the stadium of York City.
The former ground of York
Hello 😊
Hi 👋
Completely agree . I was involved but went on to other things but still mates with the lads although it's all finished now imo. A lot of the city revolved round the football lads in Stoke from security to owning pub n clubs etc
@@enquirer2.0I had a club called INTROSPECTIVE with my mate Tess. You might of heard of it ? It was the first one in Longton . It was at The Leisurebowl. The Stoke lads did the Door.-1989-1991?. The only thing Stoke fans ever did was sling bricks at the away trains from a graveyard
Talk 💩💩 , if you could throw a brick from the stoke graveyard, you should be in the Olympics!!
Crystal Palace out of the station .... they were FULL bricks.
Graveyard ? Half bricks ?? ... we valued half bricks in Stoke. Helps to make new bottle kilns for the pottery industry. You must have been special if we gave you half a brick. Be a good throw from the graveyard to the station. They'd be on a Major League Baseball Contract and £30 million quid.
So they slung bricks almost two miles? That's got be a world record surely? Impressive if true.
