    Also, my Neutron had a super soft detent (could shake it loose very easily). I contacted TRM on Instagram and sent it in for them to take a look at. It arrived there today and they have already re-built the knife and have thrown in some micarta scales (I've been asking about them). I don't know if they are free (I am going to ask and offer to pay for them). Even when I was buying the knife I missed the boat by a couple of hours and sent them an email and congratulated them on a successful launch, then they set one aside for me and sent me a PayPal invoice. VERY impressed with the support I've been receiving from this company, A+ in my book.

    Just for kicks I put my G10 scale on the non-pocket side of my Neutron today and kept the slick carbon fiber on the side that has the pocket clip, worked pretty well today. Looks, interesting, and has a great balance of grippy and slick for the pocket action.

    Bought the sage 5 about a year ago. Then it sat in the case until about amonth ago pulled it apart played with it now i have to say how smooth the action on it is turned in to one of my edc rotaion knives.I guess because of pm2 open and close and truly how smooth the actoin is i can't leave it alone. Didn't feel that way in beganing changed the lube and the red lock tight for blue and it is amazing. Also it's a slicing machine comes razor sharp.

    You know I love these *Battles to the Death!*
    This was a long one, and well done. But finally, I get to disagree!
    😀
    From my point of view, I gotta score this one differently.
    This WE knife, with it's flipper tab, ugly (as compared to the other two) blade grind, shape, and hole. Ugly pivot collar, poor pocket-clip, big old knobby lanyard hole, on the end of a 3" knife. Who does that? Not to mention, that lanyard hole placement. Doing everything it can, to keep this knife from even being close to deep-carry. I've got to put it, easily in last place. Easily.
    I've got the Sage 3, with the bolt action. Man, is that thing smooth. Seems to be a rare bird too. I don't see very many of them around. It works as well as an Axis-Lock, and Ball-Lock. I wonder why Spyderco didn't use it more often. Probably committed to the ball lock.

    • @SliceyDicey
      @SliceyDicey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RE the Rectifier - Dat blade tho... Enough to put it ahead of the Sage 5. Even thought I LOVE the Sage 5. I just bought one after having this loaner. None of these are bad choices and seem to be the size I carry the most often.

    Now that was a great comparison. I truly love the shape of the Neutron, but I don't know if I can get over two things. Bushings instead of bearings, and the handle thinness. I don't really understand why a knife at this price point wouldn't have bearings. And I like handles that are a bit more substantial. I haven't bought a Benchmade Osborne because that handle feels like it would roll in my hand during use. And while I have just never found Spydercos to be that attractive, that Sage is looking better all the time. That leaf shape instead of the bird head is not actually that bad looking. And a lot of my knife choices just seem to come down to looks.

    • @SliceyDicey
      @SliceyDicey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't go wrong with a Sage or any of the knives in this comparison. All three are pretty great.

    • @Gaston-Monescu

      Great review. Owning the Sage 5 and the Neutron, I agree with a lot of what you said. The Neutron’s blade is perfect, although I love the Sage’s as well, with mine at 0.017 inches behind the edge. The Neutron’s handle is too thin to be really comfortable when gripping hard, unlike the Sage’s outstanding ergonomics. But, man, does the Neutron thin handle disappear in the pocket compared to the Sage.
      I do like the Sage’s peel-ply CF over G-10 better for the combination of grip and looks compared to the Neutron’s CF. G-10 is nice and grippy on the Neutron but has a pedestrian look. I might have to check out their micarta scales. It is great to have options there.
      Love the Sage for the ergos, slicy blade, great clip, perfect grip, and that addicting compression lock. I just can’t seem to put it in my pocket now with the Neutron fitting there so well.

    Nah. Three Rivers website is not easy to navigate. Whats the price? Did you say? And they don't either. Out of stock there and BHQ. Availability, ease to purchase, should be a category. Slicier? Did you sharpen either? 20CV wins, agreed, depending. But, what up with that edge grind? Could be camera angle, but. Whats hand ground? Looks like stonewashed and belt final edge. Looks - purely subjective. Form follows function. I'd take the WE or Spydie any day. Agree completely on action and ergos. But these things should be weighted. Actions pretty objective thing. Looks not very. Liner locks are dead last, distant dead last. Uglier, weaker, least friendly to play with. WE blows the other 2 out of the water for value. If Spyderco ever allows the Sage to be made in a different steel, things would change. Why the P3?

    • @SliceyDicey
      @SliceyDicey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Price is listed right on the site. Didn't seem too hard for me to find. And as I said in the video... $160 and available again in September. I did misspeak. I meant to say SHARPENED by RJ Martin, not ground. But I own all three so I don't have a dog in this fight and I still stand by what I said.

    • @tomr3641
      @tomr3641 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes, I listened again and see you did state the price, up front. And my mistake, indeed 3 Rivers does have the price on its website. I listen to your evaluations and like a lot of folks, (I suspect), have my own opinions about each category. By the time you get to the value vote, I'm thinking about a bunch of things and curious whether we will agree on the final. But might I make a suggestion? When you get to the value vote, could you restate the price, as that's the element that makes category 7, along with the summary discussion of the other 6?
      I'm not sure what owning all 3 has to do with a dog in the fight?

    • @SliceyDicey
      @SliceyDicey 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom R Every one of these videos are just my opinion. I don’t require everyone to agree with me. I mentioned owning all three because it says that they’re all good choices or I wouldn’t own them.
