That is a beautiful machine. Interesting departure from the more common configuration that uses an hydraulic dash-pot to control descent, without the counterbalance.
Excellent restoration. Your saw runs extremely smoothly. I am impressed. Yes, you are right that the small pinion is made of plastic as an overload protection. The pinion of my own Klaeger has been replaced by a steel one by the previous owner. To play safe I replaced the original key by an aluminium key to create a predetermined breaking point.
Thanks a lot Harald! Honestly I don't think its necessary as the belt will slip long before this gear breaks (at least if you have the original leather belt, not a V-groove one as has been done on some restored machines). An aluminium key would also do the trick but I think to shear a 5x15mm piece of alu will take quite a bit of force. You have photos of your machine?
@@DmitriIvanov Unfortunately my Kläger has been converted to a V-groove pulley by someone. So there is a certain risk. My key is significantly smaller than 5x15mm (don't know the exact dimensions right now). I first tried with polystyrene keys - they lasted surprisingly long but not long enough. You will find a video of my machine at th-cam.com/video/P50r3Ekbg9w/w-d-xo.html and a few photographs and comments unfortunately in German language) at forum.zerspanungsbude.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=43275 Kind regards Harald
Helpful video Dmitri! Have a similar saw. You warned me about the plastic gear, and the next day I broke it! Do you (anyone) know a source to get a new one? Thanks!
You have a new subscriber buy friend. I love the way you deal with the equipment. I have a band saw that is a horizontal for cutting meta however I really want one of these power hacksaws. Is there any reason that I should want one of these in addition to my bandsaw? Thank you.
Ich habe eigentlich fast nichts an die Führungen gemacht :D die sind ein bisschen verschlissen und es konnte nicht schlecht sein wenn ich die neu Schaben...vielleicht ein Projekt für nächstes Mal.
Thanks man 😊 i used akzo Nobel hammerite, it's a nice oil based paint. Cool to know for the bushing...i will probably make an update after a while and remeasure it and see how it wears.
@@DmitriIvanov i’ve seen that used before, i really need to buy some. I bought an old 1920’s Racine Power Hacksaw that I will try it out on. Curious to see if your bushing will have any significant wear after a few months of use!
Very nice video my friend!! I have a very similar Dutch model..and it is really very much copy of this design. How ever..one thing you missing..and that is the weight on top of the slide..it has a grove in it..and you have the mounting ear as wel... I have sadly on my channel not yet the rebuild of the machine..but another Dutch guy show t he same saw machine as I have..and you see, what I mean..Good luck!! Hello Dmitri. You did a great job on the old Fortuna, and put together a very watchable video. All the best, Mart in England.
Highly satisfying! Good job!
Thanks flowie :)
How did you detach the large gear from the shaft at the very beginning?
Muito bom seus vídeos abraço 👍👍👍👍👏👏
Very nice restoration.👍
Gut gemacht. Es fehlt das Gewicht auf dem Bügel
Hello Dmitri,
You did a very nice job there, you must be very pleased... Nearly 1,000 subs I noticed, well done with that too.
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks a lot Paul! Yeah I'm pretty happy with it, i will put it through it's paces and see what it can do in the next few days. :)

Maybe they still sell parts for it: www.klaeger.com/service/

Honestly not really, I think this type of saw has quite a few disadvantages compared to a band saw. However if you have space, why not
@@DmitriIvanov That is another problem I suppose. I don't have the space. They are just so cool....My friend Luke says I just like old school stuff...
Wie hast du die Führungen so blank bekommen?

@@DmitriIvanov Wie hast du sie den dann so sauber bekommen? Pliervlies?
Awesome cast iron repairs 🤙🏻
What paint did you use?
Also, the brass bushing will work fine with oil/grease ways cut into it.
