Brilliant gotcha, I have to say it’s my favorite, No acting she was completely caught off guard, Her look was priceless when the engineer broke the record, I watched it over and over, Pity that they didn’t film a bit more.
This was actually the first ever Gotcha (Oscar), way back in 1988. Shows how they developed over the years - this is 3 mins long and basically one gag, similar to the Hit Squad, whereas before long they were much more elaborate 10 minute affairs.
They should have stuck more to this kind of quick prank. It doesn't give the victim enough time to start thinking about it and sniffing out a hoax. Some of the later Gotcha's, you could tell that the person had sussed it and was just going along with it.
What isn't pointed out here is that a certain Mr Edmonds was "got" with a similar practical joke when he was at Radio 1, using the same kind of studio. The Studio Manager shut the group fader on his desk for the grams on the DJ's desk, and played in a tape copy of the record Noel thought he was playing from the record player in the con. The SM then walked in, lifted the needle on the record player and watched Noel panic before he realised it was still playing!

This should have been longer!

Im more impressed with the torque on that turntable..
EMT 950s the most torque i have seen and used on a turntable, very light platters
Nice studio..
She hasn't changed in 30 years
Still a BBC puppet
Noel Edmonds cured my cat of cancer. The man is a saint.
He cured my budgie of Leukemia.... a great man...
Cured my grass-blade fetishism too...
John Marsh can be heard before first cart is played.
If looks could kill. Ha ha
how did she get that hair under the headphones!
She reminds me of a pissed off maths teacher
Dale Winton's was the best. 😎
Why is the trophy blurred out?
Sounding like a complete nerd, but I think this is Continuity B BHX - Radio 2 rather than Egton 1. I can't help it, I love the BBC of the 70/80s.
I like Gloria - But I prefer her hair on its own, really.
What you mean by that please
You do know they edit stuff.. The joke would have been longer than this. :)
I have just watched about 10 gothcas on youtube, every one of them has the actual gotcha statue blurred out, why?
It looked too much like the Oscar awards statuette. They had to redesign it.

Can't remember..
Can't remember, what was the question again?
@@drmattathias A year later Dr. and I still can't help him out...

Those Gotcha graphics at the end are really something. I thought Avatar had good special effects but bloody hell.
