Perfect timing on the upload. I just managed to pick one up last night from mictotechgear. Been hunting for one since they dropped last September.
Huge fan. Sensational review. Informative. Comprehensive. Amusing. Entertaining.
Great piece.
Dude, you’re hilarious. I love it. I’ve been thinking about one of these for a while to add to my microtech collection, after watching this I went ahead and found one with a plain double edge and apocalyptic finish and ordered it!
Hey MTC. Nice video. Thanks for all the Lefty support. We need more… I still cannot believe they are doing the Stitch RAM-LOK not LH friendly. so sad…
I love OTF knives for the sheer engineering that goes into making them, as well as the fact that they're just _fun._ However, if I'm carrying one, I'm also carrying a more "people friendly" knife, just because there's no way to deploy an OTF in a manner that doesn't look "threatening" to non-knife people.
I see what you mean but has that actually happened with you? I've EDC'd one for a few months now and honestly haven't gotten a reaction aside from dudes thinking it was cool. Which surprised me because I expected that to be the reaction also
Just do it every day until the wimps are desensitized to it. That's what I did. Let them deploy it when they say it's unsafe. I think it's the safest way to deploy a knife besides a fixed blade of course.
@@davidliftsheavycircles Yeah, several times. Even if it's not a negative reaction, people tend to have _some_ reaction to an OTF. A lot of the times it's just dudes wanting to play with it, or asking if it'll shoot through (insert body part), or asking if it's legal.
I generally prefer not to have attention drawn to me when I'm using a knife, so no matter the type of attention, I prefer to avoid it.
@@KretinD Take it easy there, Rambo. I've got a job I can't afford to get fired from.
Awesome Microtech Glykon Switchblade
I love you man. You are by far the best on how you tend to your videos. Great description. But I do like the window breaker on my ultratech.
I just grabbed one of these in the full grey finish. Impulse buy and my most expensive knife to date. But it’s so beautiful.
I think I know, having customized a few of these now, why they won't offer the side plates separately. The tolerances on these knives, is pretty crazy, so much so, that even something as subtle as changing the face plates, can negatively impact the function of the trigger. The plates aren't just for looks...they hold that tri-sided trigger and they are the guides for it. PLUS, the tiny screws holding the plates on one side of the handle, literally only have two full threads holding them in place, and people will be stripping them left and right. And Microtech will charge you $714.50 JUST to replace the aluminum handle on the knife (I have proof). If you strip those screws, you are....screwed!!
How can the aluminum handle be more than the entire knife!? Not saying i don't believe you (no pricing at MT surprises me) I'm just wondering how they justify replacing the handle costing hundreds more than a new knife.
@aquablaster86 So, that turned out to be a mis-quote from Microtech. They said they thought I wad referring to some prototype handle, but once I clarified with them that I was talking about a production model Glykon, the price was in the $300 range.
Finally scored one after 8 months of being on the prowl. PVK to the rescue.
Just learned of this knife, and close to hitting the “buy now” button, and thought I’d do a little research first. Thanks for the honest review. And I’m glad you brought up the infidel. That’s truly the first time I had buyers remorse from a knife. I immediately wished I would’ve spent that money on a microtech.
Love this knife!
Awesome!!
I hope they eventually do different blade shapes for this one. I'd love a standard full flat grind S/E blade or even a tanto with that same thumb jimping.
Sweet looking knife....👍👏🤘
As of yesterday microtech gear had some of these in stock. Partial serrations and no serration variants were there.
That's beautiful.
Metal Complex is a champion of the lefties, and we love him for it.
Nice review. I would have liked to see a quick comparison to a few other brands like Guardian Tactical, Hogue and Maxace to see how you think it compares.
It does look like a really cool OTF and the two tone color scheme gives it an extra classy look.
God, what a beautiful knife. They really did a great job this time . I'll be getting one, I hope soon .gotta save a bit, but hopefully, I will add one to my collection soon .
Will see on Monday when it arrives.
Have you handled the Medford otf?
Fingers crossed for a shadow variant in the future
Definitely a missed opportunity if they don't offer scales/panels as an option. I usually try to buy two knives at a time. One for the collection and one for use (after all, it was good enough to collect!). I do know someone who does anodizing, so I'll probably send it and get custom colors.
Mine comes tomorrow!
Side panels sounds like a good secondary market
this is my dream knife
Fun Fact: Poland has no general restrictions on what kind of knife a person can carry, other than it cannot be disguised as something that is not a knife. No cane swords... But there is no restriction on auto knives.
I just returned mine … I LOVE the way it looks but to me the blade stock is to thin compared to the chunky handle . To me the handle felt overbuilt which is great but to the point if I used the knife the thin blade would break had it had a scarab blade in maybe . But they need to think the handle down. If they do a thicker single side blade I may repurchase
Benchmade has a new otf with the blade dead centered instead of offset like all other otf I have seen. whats the deal with that?
Would you recommend this over a Microtech troodon?
Definitely appreciate you MC. Why? For Giving us Lefty's Shout Outs more frequently. Please keep it up! Cheers! Zip~
I think it's cool microtech is thinking about the customization factor but if I had to guess why they wouldn't make their own panels available separately is because they know the aftermarket will step up and undercut the price we all know microtech would have.
That being said I could see microtech doing some special limited runs for exuberant prices as well
Amazing
That would be kind of cool all the titanium parts someone that's good at analyzing Making it look custom
I wish the serration only existed on one side.
No mention of the nickel boron inners ?
That knife is super classtical!!
No glass breaker. That's heckin Hot
Man I definitely Do want a Glykon. I will say that I do love the combat troodon and dirac clips though. One of the best in my opinion, but everyone is different!
As a destiny fan. Whenever I hear glykon I end up thinking of the presage mission
That is an awesome blade 👍 how much can I get one sent to me please what is the site
Actually saw an episode of On Patrol Live Friday night where the officer used his Ultratech to cut his seatbelt, airbags, and use the glass breaker to get out of the window. First time I've actually seen it in use in the field and worked flawlessly! Personally do t care for them but it was pretty cool
I'm lost partner. Managed to snag a blem of that exact model yesterday for $468.
does it come with darkness infused fungus and a dead magic space cowboy?
I think this is the first time i heard an item referred to as a dingle berry in a youtube video lol
Kind of a gentleman’s OTF Kind ok . 550.00 not surprised. It’s cool .. not sure about the the blade Jagged serrated on each side . Is there a purpose for that? .. thanks great video as always..
I got a Marfione Glycon last year..I believe it came from the Vegas show...number 8/2022.. I like it....was a bit pricey tho....I hope it at least it holds its value I have only looked at it the day I received it...I fired it like 4 times and its been stored since..I like keeping my stuff in mint condition....Great Video
How could you not look at that beauty every day? I'm gonna split some logs with my glycon
Wait, I thought the Dirac Delta was your favorite otf? In fact, this new knife is not symmetrical AT ALL!
As my mother in law use to say need has nothing to do with it.
Tacti-class
I got one awhile ago. It's a nice blade. Only thing I'm not big on is the firing slide. Its a little sloppy and the milling is a little aggressive on it. I am hoping either microtech or at least someone else starts offering the side panels soon so it can get some customization. Hate having a knife that looks like everyone else's.
It didn’t sound like the scarab 2 had blade play
tonto w/carbon my choice...as long as not @ 1k or the 3.5k listed for the Marfione Custom
What happened to taking the “panels” off? You got out your tools and never did it.☹️
I'm wondering, let's take the tactical scenario, would one be able to fire the blade into the corner of a glass to break it ?
Do you mean firing the blade into a window corner? If so, that won't happen, not with a double action otf. Maybe not any otf for that matter.
Yeah they're not that powerful, if you find yourself in those scenarios often or you just like to be prepared Microtech has a lot of options with glass breakers… ignoring the fact that being a fantastic way to destroy your tip
Chinese already started producing copies... saw few online 😅
Was debating on this or the combat troodon, choose the later❤
I want to buy a microtech what knife would you suggest I buy
For people just getting into Microtechs the Ultratech is solid and has a fair price being sub $300 for a “standard” model... Most of Microtechs other OTF’s are gonna be way more expensive, with a few exceptions
😍
Then why sell the knife with screws you can take out for what reason you would want to remove them in the first place.
beautiful as microtechs go 😂
maybe do a LH only video… ;)
I tickle dingle berry's ribs all the time with my glass breaker get em singing real sweet too
The side switches are not gimmicky when your hands are soaked in blood...I mean motor oil, and you need to retract the blade.
winner
It looks like a rhino horn coming out of your butt. You make me laugh
Love your humor and vids

Blades are useful tools.
Mankind's first tool,
was a sharpened edge.
This comment and your profile pic match perfectly.
Don't cut yourself on all that edge. lol
what about the goods sold on aliexpress... are they genuine?
😊
is there any form of safety ? so it isnt just popping open
This thing is cool as SHIT 🤘🏼
Here’s what would happen if they had customizable scales. People who buy the knife in titanium will spend the money for carbon fiber scales and people that get the knife in carbon fiber will spend the money to get titanium scales because let’s be honest.. people just want to feel like they’re “upgrading” things. It’s an addiction.
Don't be such a weenie, that glass breaker comes in handy for many things. Imagine you get rushed before you can deploy the blade... you can use the glass breaker to crack a skull or cheek bone or an eye socket. So if you (don't like the way it looks)...😢 Then ask them to make a better, more streamline version of it that fits the esthetic of the knife!
Does this guy not realize that you can easily unscrew the glass breaker on basically EVERY over microtech knife?
Jst keep in Mind if your buying Microtech. Don't plan on returning it w/ 18% restocking fee. Avg. Price is $400-$500 it's going to cost $100 jst for returning. I'd hate to see there $5,000 customs. $900 is what you will loose 😢
Why would you ever return a knife anyway other than to a local dealer just resell it
I love your take on Microtech mall ninja tacticool BS. That was one of the main reasons I disliked the brand. Felt like the white gas can sunglasses/punisher skull bros of the knife world. Regardless of build quality.
I recently bought a Chinese knock off of this knife... I'd love for you to review it. I think it's pretty damn good and comparable for $60. Have you rated any Glykon knockoffs??
I got one too, that's why I'm here. Mines was $25 and is near identical to the real thing. Like he said, China has seriously stepped up in terms of production quality. You gotta be a sucker to pay $500+ for this thing when a $25 clone of the same materials is just as good, AND is way more user friendly. (Comes with a screwdriver that fits the screws and extra parts. Lmao)
@@jakesanchez6621 LMAO it’s not the same materials. Not even close.
They are 60 bucks rite now, on sale.
tactistically
If Microtech screws people with handle options, other companies will make them and they will probably be better looking than what Microtech puts out. Companies/individuals will still make compatible handles, but people will be less likely to hunt them down if they have something they already like from Microtech.
"Classtical"
550 dollar what a joke
What self-respecting adult cares to "customize" their otf knife? ;)
Classtickle🤷🏻♂️ It just popped into my head when you were blending classic and tactical together… l
If you’ve ever struggled with that, stop collecting knives and go get pom-poms
You had me til the cost
The cost is $1400
Lies
@@Bostonnick34 They're out of stock on every website, but literally every single knife website has it listed at $550. Learn how to use Google mate
@@lordnix82nd the only sites that list it that low never sold them, ever; cuz they never ever have had any to sell. Spare me the internet lessons.
@@Bostonnick34every site has had them at $535-550. Looking at one right now serrated apocalyptic finish for 550.
