Love my Knipex pliers wrenches and find that even that super mini has it's uses. Most of the time I want a larger size, but I don't regret the owning the smallest ones.
The simple truth of knipex being less likely to round off a bolt than basically any wrench on the market makes it superior to anything listed or mentioned.
For that reason alone I bought the engineer/vampliers slip-joints. Now knipex has their twingrip and it looks kinda interesting. But both the cobras and the twingrips are kinda pricy
I carry that and the 5" plier wrench.... they're an awesome team. I was able to break a corroded garden hose free with those little pliers, they're awesome. plier wrench when I don't want to damage the nut, cobra when it should have known better than to mess with me.
@@VictorGarciaR The Plier wrenches are pricey indeed, the 100mm XS is a bit overpriced IMHO. The Cobra and Twingrip pliers are much better priced, and the latter came down significantly since it's introduction, now a bit over €20.
@@joehart3826This video is the 4” / 100mm. The pliers wrench and cobra both come in 4” and 5”. I have both sizes of cobra and prefer the 5”. It has the push button and is still very small. The 5” pliers wrench is tempting me.
Leatherman 'The Crunch' is pricey, but has vise-type functionality and can grab stuff really well! It's what it generally EDC. I removed the sharp blade so TSA doesn't steal it.
Honestly, I really haven't found anything that beats my classic pocket knife and slip joint pliers in a holster combination. I like the idea of the pliers wrench and I have some of the larger sizes, but for my edc I really like something with some cutters what will cut barbed wire because I find myself having to do that quite often being a farmer. Normally if I think I'm going to be doing something that involves hex fasteners, I just grab the larger pliers wrench or a crescent or whatever normal wrench I need.
Hello again, Doc Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I think the pliers wrench and a multi-tip screwdriver should just about handle it😅 Everything else is a carrier for extra bits😂 Again thank you
The Pipe Vise Micro 5 has been the best pocket wrench I’ve found. I’m a field mechanic where I have to carry everything with me. My edc in my right pocket is a leatherman, baby Knipex cobras, baby Knipex pliers wrench, a pocket knife, and the pipe vise. The pipe vise is by far the best wrench for most of the applications I’ve come across, I rarely need the Knipex.
I have a micro 5 in the mail, I think I’ll like. Although I think in this case the pipe vise micro stubby could fill this edc roll pretty well being it does have some bits, I almost decided on that one.
I have all the knipex pliers wrenches and my favourite is the 5 inch, which I always carry with a 5 inch cobra. I use them both every day and together you can get so much work done. The 4 inch pliers slip too easy with the slim smooth narrow jaws, although I like that you can adjust them one handed, which is good for working on an unknown size fastener that you can't see in spaces you can barely fit your hand. If size and weight is really important the 4 inch cobra is the best option as it has more grip.
The Knipex 100 rides in the change pocket of my jeans. Between it and my Leatherman I can take care of most things. The Knipex 125 is my favorite for comfort and overall jaw opening vs handle length
The channelock 4.5in adjustable wrench is my favorite in this genre. It opens to 14mm and 9/16 unlike the crescent and is very well made (irega made in Spain). It’s also not expensive like $15 or so. I find it more effective than the 100mm pliers wrench.
I have the 4 Channellock/ Irega and it's a good wrench, but my old MAC AW4 is better. It'll do 15mm and it's a little bit shorter. My dad gave it to me as a teenager and I've carried it in my pocket daily for the past 10 years, there have been different versions of the AW4 over the years and I don't know what era it is or I'd track down another to have in case I ever lose this one.
For the price of the knipex pliers wrench it should have a flat bit end handle and a quarter inch bit driver end handle with a reversible bit. Maybe nextool can make one when the patent expires.
Don't think you'll see that kind of multitool from Knipex any time soon since it doesn't seem to match their philosophy, apparently the designers and engineers had to be heavily convinced to even make these small wrenches and cobras cause they initially thought it's too much of a toy and were surprised by it's success when they went ahead with it. They're also staying away from making their own screwdrivers and the likes for the most part cause they have that cooperation with Wera going and don't feel the extra money is worth ruining that cooperation over (Was mentioned in a several hour long factory tour when asked about it)
for frequent use yes, occasional use as edc maybe the 125mm it's the perfect spot, carried the 150 cobra for months used a couple times, picked up the 125 cobra done everything the 150 has done for me, but for real use nothing under the 150 feels much stronger, the 125 it's nice for the compact size and can fit in my small pouch tool that's why i got it instead of the 150 that stays at home or in the car, but edc it's personal so that what works for me
I really don't get wanting a tool to do a bunch of other things not very well , and I especially do not get why they'e always trying to stuff awkward hard to use bit driving capabilities into everything ( not to mention stupid useless cap lifters ) The basic multiplier and scout / SAK multifunction knife formats are the only times this has ever worked very well, and only when kept simple for a few basics that you use in a pinch not to replace primary tools. I just want my pocket wrench to be a wrench and for that nothing beats a good quality traditional 4" adjustable wrench. American European or Japanese made. I just cannot get being tbe bulkier angled plier wrench design, I simply want a regular adjustable wrench. For pocket carry / EDC nothing will ever replace the old MAC AW4 that I've had in my pocket the past decade, they managed to enlarge the head just a tad so it can do 15mm without being an oversized little tool and it's great. If my dad could remember where / when he originally acquired it and I knew exactly which era it is I'd track down another online to have as a backup, but they changed over the years and I've never seen another just like mine.
I don't want awkward screwdriving on my pliers... Likewise I feel there isn't enough weight or leverage for me to find any practical use for a hammer head on a 100mm pliers wrench. For me it would just be added weight, size, and cost - three things I want reduced.
You can always add a bit to either end of the Plier Wrench handles... Just get out Mr. TIG. Remember; welding is just another way to say "3D Photoshop."
Good information but I just dont see any of that being needed for EDC most of it looks like junk. That's just my opinion my only EDC is a couple of knives

They can go buy mini Knipex pliers and do what they want to them but as for Knipex catering to the the man bag 👜 carrying edc people who stuff 50 small tools in their man-bag & call it 'everyday carry'. It's not going to happen. Knipex makes tools for the industry user.

I don't carry a man bag or 50 tools, I just have my 4" adjustable 4" slipjoint pliers and 5" mini pry bar in my pocket organizer which is a true pocket organizer too. A small pouch that organizes the contents of my pocket which is carried in my pocket, and I do not have to take it out of my pocket to retrieve any of the tools or my pocket knife from it either. I'm not trying to replace a toolbox or thinking I can do major repairs / assembly with my pocket tools, just handle quick minor things that pop up occasionally throughout the week. The white collar desk jockies who want to keep a pouch full of little tools in the backpack they carry to work are fine to do so, but I need my stuff on my person.

Man, I think the 125 pliers wrench is far superior to the 100. The 100 can slip. The 125 locks on.
The 125 is what I carry too. I haven't tried the 100, but the 125 was cheaper when I was building my kit, and still fit fine. Been very happy with it.
Love that 125 Pliers Wrench. Wish I had the dough to buy one for every vehicle.
One thing I love using my plier wrench for is fixing bent pocket clips haha. Gotta love the parallel jaws
Yes, there are all sorts of uses for the parallel smooth jaws. 👍
Yup, one the tasks I used them for today.
Cobra XS looks useless but I found it so much easier to use when undoing tiny rusted nuts.
For that reason alone I bought the engineer/vampliers slip-joints. Now knipex has their twingrip and it looks kinda interesting. But both the cobras and the twingrips are kinda pricy

125 every day over the 100. But the real question is carry a plier wrench or cobras.
