24-7 in free throws in favor of Los Angeles in that one quarter.

Anytime I feel sad, depressed or pissed off - I watch this video.
I think of how well Kobe and the Lakers performed, but unfortunately came short.
Despite that, he took the loss to come back stronger and better than ever and win back to back in 2009 and 2010.
This video, is what makes Kobe, Kobe.

Kobe handled that like a true educated professional. No attitude with the reporter, no aggressive crazy comeback comments or nothing like that. Kobe was great in many other ways other than just playing on the basketball court. And you can compare today's player/reaction to the press and compare their average game interview to an interview like this. After getting blown out by almost 40 pts to lose the NBA finals. You the goat Kobe!

"There's a lot of guys who make it here and never come back..."
We know Kobe made it back, repeated, and even got his revenge against the Celtics. But when we look at this quote in its context, without the knowledge of his two other rings, it's heavy.
After 3-peating, then going through a Finals Drought (missed the playoffs, back-to-back first round exits by PHO - including blowing a 3-1 lead), then winning an MVP while finally making it back and getting a chance to say he did it without Shaq, just to fall short to the Celtics in a 39 pt. loss.
Kobe knew he missed a chance at a ring and it burns him. The little doubt that Kobe may never make it back existed somewhere. I'm sure he wanted to be back and needed to be back, but he had to overcome that.

No blaming the refs, or replay center, just accountability and work. Went straight into the Olympics and 4am workouts. Even ran over his own teammate to remind him to be tougher for the championship battles to come. Came back and won again in 2009 and got revenge in 2010 while some others made The Decision to run to greener pastures. My GOAT.

Retired Lakers fan here. I may come out of retirement when LeBron leaves the team, but you can see the reason I stopped watching right here. Watching LeBron’s presser and Kobe’s presser and it’s night and day. Kobe does what we all wish LeBron would do: Take accountability, give credit to the other team, admit that you failed, and vow to rededicate yourself to your craft to become and better and accomplish your goal. It’s so refreshing watching this post game interview and watch what a real leader looks like.

Can't even imagine how he felt at that point in time. 2007-08 was a roller coaster of a year to put it mildly. It went from Kobe demanding to be traded near the start of the season, being BOOED by the Laker crowd in the home opener, to the Lakers overachieving in the 1st part of the season, to the all-time trade steal of Pau Gasol, to Kobe winning his 1st MVP and leading the Lakers through the far superior WC...to losing in the finals against the Lakers most bitter historical rival and Kobe losing his then greatest opportunity to prove he could win a title w/out Shaq. I'm sure he was no less than devastated.
What followed was a gold medal that summer and 2 straight titles including defeating the team that had just eliminated him before this press conference.

And I get it, for players like Westbrook, Paul, etc., you're high on emotion cause you lost the game, but these reporters have a job to do, and yeah perhaps at times they ask dumb questions, but still you gotta handle them as professionally as they can.

John Bacon lebron has a better attitude which is why he has 4 times the MVPs kobe does and he has gotten further in the playoffs than kobe has, sustained greatness and unselfishness is what supersets lebron from kobe, If kobe had what lebron had, his life would be easier and he would have had 10 rings

Seeing Kobe like this, one can’t help but think of Devin Booker, Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks skipping their press conference with the media after losing in the playoffs this year.

Then in 2015 when returning to Cleveland and promising a championship, his first year he lost against golden state when kyrie and love were out, go watch that postgame interview, frustrated and determined was his demeanor, and the next year he came back down 3-1 to beat a 73-9 team. Like I said, you only focus on certain things to suit your narrative, Lebron is 39, in year 22, has made the finals 10 out of 22 seasons, I think it’s understandable that an older player would be a little dramatic knowing his time is running out and he know what’s it likes to be at mountain top and he just got booted in the first round. Second, the question of basketball was referring to pressure, he was asked if certain players on the lakers were succumbing to pressure and his response was, “I’m not the one you should ask that, to me it’s just basketball, at the end of the day it’s just basketball”, and to him he would be correct.
