Regular screenings of these exciting films is a great way to help children and wider communities gain a better understanding about what can be done to reduce the impacts of disasters, and how to be more prepared should disasters happen. The films included on this disk are suitable for screening at community events, schools and other public education forums. You may choose to show episodes that suit the local context. These films work most effectively as community education tools when they are introduced together with Yayasan IDEP's Community Based Disaster Management (CBDM) Education Kits and;or other pucliv education tools about disaster education and management. Complete CBDM Kits can be downloaded from www.idepfoundation.org/cbdm_download.html
These films have been designed and produced by an Irish based organization called No Strings, through cooperation with Yayasan IDEP and Jesuit Refugee Service Indonesia to help increase local communities; understanding abut some of the causes and potential impacts of disasters. They can help people better understand what they can do if a disaster occurs. The films present what can often be sensitive and complex information in a fun, easy-to-remember way, using a cast of memorable puppet characters specially designed for Indonesian communities. This innovative project was made possible with the support from Trocaire and Cordaid. Our thanks to them.
