I’m also Gen Z but it’s incredible how short a lot of peoples attention spans are nowadays…. Mostly from people my age and younger though there are older people as wel.
5:57 don't forget the combat boots and army jackets. I was 15 when this came out. Great times. You had west coast thrash, east coast thrash and then the Germans came along and said "hold my beer and let us show you how it's done."
It's hard to believe that, at this age, you have never heard this composition. This is a classic of the genre! I, at one time, when I was still 5 years old, heard it. My father often listened to it on cassette in the car. (this was 1989)
This isn’t Gen X music. Tom and Kerry are Baby Boomers. Jeff Hanneman was a boomer. Dave Lombardo would have been a boomer if he was born one year earlier. I’m a 41-year-old millennial and I’ve been listening to Slayer since junior high. Welcome to Gen X music?

It's just not a standalone track. That's truly an outro, where Angel of Death is one of the most historic opening songs ever. They signed with a new label (As you'd mentioned), but it was because Sony (they own Metal Blade) refused to release "Angel of Death". Reign in Blood is an Opus, so to speak, and really just one big masterpiece as is South of Heaven. You have to start at the beginning.
I started listening to Slayer in junior high. I was a little timid at first when it came to Slayer because they have this dark, evil vide. They creeped me out. It was a weird feeling to like it and be creeped out at the same time.
This came out when people genuinely thought that heavy metal would turn children into church burning satanists. There were congressional hearings here in the USA and church groups would actively target metalheads for their music. Fun times all around.
Ahh slayer - they played in sydney in the early 2000's and some poor guy slipped off a sweaty guys back and fell under the mosspit... got knocked out cold and had to be dragged out and sent to the ambo... luckily they revived me just as Angel of death started up and i was able to run back in and catch it :) - after the concert all my friends were talking about it as i approached them... but it wasnt till they saw the bandage and my torn shirt that the realised it was me... :)
A bit long. Might have mentioned in the intro that they went in with music for 50 something minutes and came out with almost 29 minutes, all songs played.
As a millennial, i don't listen to metal much these days i listen to beatdown/hardcore and punk. I'm not a big fan Slayer but i do like season in the abyss, it's great song.
As your fellow "elder millennial" do you even remember what topped the charts when this song or album came out? One single top 1 hit from that year? A single band or song name from the year-end chart of 1986? I'll help you out: Metallica and Slayer are not on that list. Alright. Now google it. How many of those songs have you even heard? You can't name ONE without looking it up, can you? Modern pop music is predictable and forgettable. But so was the sh*t topping the charts then. There is still good music to be found today. It's just unlikely to be on the radio. Great reaction ladies!
Just discovered your channel today and by watching the Gen Z girl i can just say one thing to her... before listening to anything you consider Brutal in 2024, you should explore some history of the genre you like to hear... Otherwise you will not comprehend the tremendous Big Wall that Metal is that just keeps and keeps evolutioning...but in some ways also getting worse.. Many bands nowdays only care to growl as deep as possible to downtune their guitar to the lowest possible and to play the drums the fastest they can without taking in consideration what makes metal truly brutal than just playing insane instrumentals.. 100 years can pass and 85-00´ Extreme metal will always keep Reigning on everything moder metal bands have tried to achieve in extremity, because they lost that sense of anger, criticism and Essence of Metal.. The just like metal so they perform it, thats it.
You shouldn't play this song in fragments, come on... This reaction makes no sense, unfortunately - RB is a whole, complete structure, not just parts. This is the power of this song. And you somehow managed to forget abouit it.

As a '92 born Guy I love the Original 🖤 But there's a Version on TH-cam made by Bodycount (Metalband lead by Ice-T and his Heavy-Guitar-Friend Earnie C), that is more clear than the Original and for my Opinion even more likely for the Gen Z. You should give your Reaction on that as well 🤘🤘🤘
Is this girl who hasn’t heard Slayer before a metal fan? If she is, she must have just started listening to metal like the day before they shot this video. Maybe she’s getting into metal because she thinks the t shirts are cool.
I'm Gen x and this song came out when I was a high school. Best album ever made. Still listen to it today!!!
