I got the Mozzafiatto V, a very beautiful machine. What I experienced is - at what we can see on 5:15 min in the video - that the coffee flickers when it comes out of the portafilter. Is this by design or how can we explain this because on other machines I do not see this. Thanks for the answer and for the tip with the single spout for exclusive double expresso into one cup :)
As far as I know extraction pressure should be stable and around 9bars. I guess it is a green area on the right manometer. Looking at it on your movie I see it’s not in the green range - is that how it works?
It's only going to show 9 bars or around there (depending on the OPV setting) when you're brewing coffee with the proper grind range or with a blank basket, sometimes it shows pressure even when not brewing but I don't think it's accurate (or matters at all at that point). Ok I see what you mean now, basically looks like he didn't have the grind right and the coffee wasn't providing enough resistance to get up to 9 bars, at around 4:00 when he makes espresso. He probably could have mentioned that since he's talking about he pressure guage at the same time, people will probably notice :P When I make a coffee it is around 8.5 -9 bars on my machine and maybe goes down to 8 as the flow increases towards the end of the shot.
The pid controls the water in the boiler and replaces the pressurestat. The water is still well over boiling temperature. If the machine is idle for a few minutes any water left in the hx will be boiling as well. This is not a large amount but I still recommend flushing hx machines
The flush isnt necessary if you are on a 2nd shot. Any hx that you are warming it up for more than 15-20 mins you should do a flush, as to how much you have to do is based on your boiler pressure/pid temp, how long its been sitting for heating up, and ambient temperature to which the grouphead is loosing heat to.
If you are making consecutive drinks you do not have to flush again. I recommend performing a cooling flush if the machine has been idle for a few minutes.
@@andrewffay From a heat exchange type machine with PID you mean? I'm still experimenting but it seems for my HX & PID machine you may not have to do a cooling flush I think i'm getting good results either way. I just don't want to waste lots of water (especially when it's a pain in the butt to get to the water reservoir, and the drip tray is tiny!), I'll still usually do a little cooling flush just in case but I never see the water insta-boil and release a lot of steam like I do in videos of other Heat exchange type machines without PIDS.
The Rocket has manual dosing, it does not have a timer. You lift the lever to start the pump and the lower it to turn it off once you have enough coffee
Build quality and reliability is industry leading on Rocket Espresso. I have personal hands on experience with just about every type of machine there is or has been, past or present and I chose a Rocket for my home.
Thanks Slawek.... Good tip on the double basket in the single portafilter.

Tell me why it's advertised as having a 3 litre reservoir when it holds 2 litres and no more. Yes I measured mine.
Great video. The Giotto is a beauty!
Is the flush necessary? Wouldn’t the PID ensure the water in the heat exchanger remains stable?

I saw another video from whole latte love and they measured temp after several minutes and it was always exact, so no flush is ever required.

Well while we use nouva simonelli we can short time the coffee shot....but isn't it possible with this one?

I do like this machine but the Profitec 500 is just a little bit better for me, it is amazing and such beautiful engineering
Big Chief the rocket inferior build quality is very apparent when you see them in person.

Profitec is great quality but so is rocket. For me, Profitec is BMW tried & true and Rocket is beauty of Ferrari.
