When she said she tried to create a character who is equally dry and not enthusiastic and also desperate.... That shows her intelligence and deep understanding of a very niche type of humor. Love it

I think Amelia’s timing and improvisation is what separates her from so many other interviewers.
She’s always able to make a moment out of a question, and she’s not afraid to feed off the guest, which is so impressive.

As someone who's produced TV talk shows forever (I worked at Fallon for nearly 12 years), I've been insanely impressed by Chicken Shop Date which, in the same vein as Hot Ones, really took talk shows into the next generation and I think makes something really, really special.

The fact that this show isnt aiming to max out profitability with brand deals and sponsorships i feel like is essential to it's success because makes it feel so much more genuine. Seeing these celebrities interacting naturally with Amelia would be totally broken by extra commercializing it. I also like that it doesnt only focus on whatever movie or project that an actor or singer is promoting the way other interviews do.

Okay, so I have a huge confession. I went on a few dates with a girl named Katie in 2022. I watch a lot of TH-cam and told her about Chicken Shop Date and Hot Ones. For my birthday, Kate made me a chicken shop date box. FELT AND EVERYTHING! I still have it. It has two chicken drumsticks in it made from dog toys. When I was given it, I always felt like I should make a tweet or a TikTok about it but I've never wanted it to be a viral thing on the internet. But this feels like the perfect time to tell the world. Big ups Katie! Big ups Amelia. Big ups Naomi. 🐔🍗

wow i really didn’t think id be able to sit down and watch this whole hour long interview but i was enthralled. amelia is really inspiring and the insight she has even though not really related to anything in my life still felt invaluable. i think it’s mostly cause she hit the nail on the head. independence is so attractive seeing someone participate in their own creation with their own vision is always so appealing as a viewer and you can usually tell when that’s the case.

I love how Amelia goes over her stories. You can tell how passionate she is about her work/journey/art. Most of all, you can tell how passionate she is about not gatekeeping anything. She’s really the type to outdo herself and help others along the way instead of focusing on what others are doing/letting outside noise affect her.
I love how she was self aware enough to find the right work life balance (for herself), to prioritize her creation vs what would get her easy money (not that there’s anything wrong with that), etc. She’s so true to herself. That realness and authenticity very clearly comes out in the work that she puts out. You can’t help but be a fan of her work ethic &/or content (even beyond ChxShop). Just love her 🐔🍗❤️

I think the thing Bobbi Althoff doesn't manage to do as well as Amelia is the fact that she's endlessly charming & her awkwardness in the interview doesn't feel like she's pretending to be superior or above the people she's "dating" but rather just her personality. You never feel like Amelia isn't on some level interested in who she's talking to, which is nice. Bobbi takes it too far LOL

For me it is by far the most British thing in the universe - the dry humour, the uptightness(?), and ofc, the chicken shop, the most quintessential British establishment imo.
