Sensei was one of the most powerful and yet at the same time kind and gentle people I have ever met. The first time I met him in London he was aware I was nervous and quickly put me at ease. Several years later I had the pleasure to spend a weekend with him in York, just after an operation for throat cancer. He explained that he learned so much about using ki and not strength, when physically his body was very weak. He was truly inspirational. One of the few men that I can say I have genuine love for.

He was amazing , it was a great honor to attend his classes ! I can still feel his locks on my wrists even today . My first seminar with him few years ago I did ennd up as one of the uke's attacking him , so I tought I will look after that old fragile man ........ god i was wrong .... all I remmember was the attack and than looking at the seiling with his smiley face on top of me .

Wonderful to see this. I trained for some time many years ago with Kanetsuka Sensei. This had a deep impact.

I travelled with Sensei to France where I was struggling with a real bully Kanetsuka saw the bully and called him out and did something that amazed everyone, the bully was taught a lesson and became more humble thereafter - Sensei abored bullies.

I had the honor of being uke several times while Sensei Kanetsuka visited the Netherlands in the late 70's. I was young and well trained, but I had to postpone doing my homework after the first time because I couldn't hold my pen properly the day after two hours of kote-gaeshi.
