@@ShawnJonesHellion I do as well but he has a newish band called Ashes Of Ares and he apparently cut all ties with Schaffer after Schaffer raided the Capitol Building. Can’t blame Barlow for cutting ties with him. He literally said I used to call you my brother, we will never be brothers again.
I love both Tim and Matt they both have different ways of singing You can not really differ witch one you like more it would like saying. Hate one but enjoy other have gratitude that both singers pulled it off and show respect to the both of them for doing a great job of singing a difficult song …!!??
The major difference between Owens and Barlow is not really skill, because they both have a crap-ton of that. It's more their sound. Barlow has this rough but also haunting emotional quality to him whereas Owens is more clean and focused and uses a register that is a little higher.
Thanks for uploading this. I was upset that Jon didn't allow this version to be on the EP cd that I purchased. Once again, thanks for this man. Such an amazing song and Matt has the best metal voice. I have Matt and Russell Allen as metal vocal immortals. \m/ \m/
From a technical standpoint, it could be argued that Owens is a better singer, but I've always loved Barlow's ability to emote well. He sings with such overwhelming feeling (not to say Owens doesn;t have feeling). His voice resonates with me emotionally, especially in The Dark Saga.
I prefer Barlow over Ripper for IE anyway, Barlow fits the dark atmosphere better. I find Ripper is better with Charred Walls of the Damned or in Beyond Fear. Though there are some IE songs I prefer Ripper to sing, Ten Thousand Strong being one of them. That's just my opinion.
+Eddie Jewells My first singer for Iced Earth was Barlow. He was fantastic but his heart really wasn't in the return. Owens did a good-enough job as a replacement & has since honed his voice. I really wish Tim had finished off the Something Wicked stuff before Matt came back so Matt could do some stuff he that might have had more fun with. That said, Stu was a great replacement for Matt. He brought a diverse range, even incorporating some of the styles of both previous singers, while bringing in more enthusiasm than either Barlow(2nd run) or Owens.
Same here. I was NOT getting the Framing Armageddon 'till I've listened to it for like 3-4 times. But I've originally started this album :-) and then moved to Barlow's Iced Earth (Something Wicked).
@Rahavin1 there's "framing Armeggedon Part 1", which has this song on it, and there's "Glorious Burden", which is all about history: Attlila, Waterloo, Deceration Day, etc.
Barlow's voice, Owens' style of singing (notice how Barlow somehow lengthens the vowels, especially in the beginning). Also, as most ppl are saying, Owens is much better for high pitched songs, and Barlow for the dark ones (the kind of dark that ghouls live in)
Not everything is meant to be sand at a high pitch....it has more weight to it when Barlow sings it! Ripper adds screams where there really should't be any....less is more in this case!
I got into the band after Barlow left so I really loved Owens but since then Ive come to putting Barlow one notch above, as for this song its Owens song I highly doubt the ripper can pull off lets say A question of heaven as well as Barlow because thats a Barlow style. I love both singers and I love Iced Earth one of my favorite bands \m/
FA was a near perfect album. I prefer Barlow over Owens but FA is such a beast of an album, I wouldn't want it to be altered just like Glorious Burden!
Barlow is my favourite singer. And I think he takes the biscuit for this song. Owens is good, hell he wouldnt have been in The Almighty Judas Priest (Take a bow now) if he wasn't, BUT Barlow has tones that no other singer has, his stuff with Pyramaze is awesome too
@UnleashMoonlightFire, i think he just wanted to make it different than rippers', as his high pitched voice on horror show, like on dracula and Wolf, demonstrate that he is capable of doing it, and sounds great at the same time. I have listened to their entire collection, and Barlow can handle the highs just as well as the lows.
I started listening to Iced Earth with Barlow, actually, Dark Saga was the first ever Iced Earth song. Because of this, when I heard the album Framing Armageddon I was initially taken back because it featured Owens. For a while I actually really disliked that album, until of course I listened to it on a 5 hour drive, then it all started to make sense. Now I actually really enjoy both voices just as equally as much.
@UnleashMoonlightFire You should listen to Gettysburg 1863! Chapter 3 (High Water Mark) especially near the ending o.o. There you will be definitely impressed ! But Barlow is unbeatable at the hellish themed albums and so on (dark low pitch hellish voice - I just say Dante's Inferno! I couldnt imagine any other vocalist on that song.)
Matt does have a face melting evil scream. Just listen to anything from Burnt Offerings, Dark Saga, Something Wicked, and Horror Show. He definitely has the evil scream.
It was better than Ripper's version. He gave it what it was missing with Ripper, especially for a live performance. It suits his voice perfectly, especially these days now he's matured as a singer. His best song by far is a Question of heaven though
schaffer did the same thing when ripper replaced barlow. its not that he doesnt have respect for their work, he just re-records to get people use to the new singer. he also did the same thing when Barlow replaced the singer before him.
Matt's definitely got the better baritone voice in my opinion, but when reaching soprano range, Owens owns it. I prefer baritone voices though, so I really like hearing singers like Matt and Russell Allen.
Heyz Dude Can you Help, Schaffer sais at the Discription tha this song is from I walk Among you Ep but I searched and i only Found These songs In this album 01. I Walk Among You (4:01) 02. Setian Massacre (3:45) 03. The Clouding (9:18) Are you sure this song is From I walk Among you? Just Saying,Answer Me Plz I need the answer!
@UnleashMoonlightFire That's because Ripper and Barlow made songs their own. Ripper could never do Dracula like Barlow, and I don't believe Barlow could do High Water Mark as Ripper can. Both were awesome, but I prefer Barlow over all.
I definatly prefer Matts voice to Tims, but that doesnt mean that Tim isn't a great singer. He is really one of the best in the world. It's too bad people talk shit about him.
i noticed some people build their judgment on how angry is the artist, neglecting or just not noticing the true identity and nature of each artist... they sound so funny and rediculously ignorant, not to mention unprofessional... but then most people today are like that, and this saddens me, exept it doesnt becoz i dont care, im just posting my opinion
Your right he does have a great scream himself But its just not the same as Tim's Like Take The Clouding Theres a version of Matt's and Tim's Halfway through when it goes to the heavy part Tim lets out this crazy scream/laugh thing. On Matt's version theres also a scream but its just not as powerful to me. He's a great singer in his own right, but their voices are too different.
rippers one is better:) i think? havent heard this song in a while? does ripper sing it as well? if he does its the better one, barlows not angry enough
I strongly prefer Owens to Barlow. Barlow's voice certainly as unqiue as Rippers, but I think Ripper has am amazing chemistry with Iced Earth. Too bad.
Um have you heard the live performances of ten thousand strong, Barlow destroys Rippers performance. Also to Metalrain6, Jon writes the music for the music NOT for the singer. He writes it so it can be done with other vocalists, if needs be. I liek both singers myself, each brought their own sound... and all but the first are good. Greely was too weak. Barlow, however is my favourite all time singer
See I don't actually like Dickinsons voice that much. But I just prefer Matt to all other vocalists, though Lance King and Warrel Dane are close second for me
@UnleashMoonlightFire >Barlow could never sing that song as well as Ripper You obviously never seen them live with Barlow. He did sing it and he sang it extremely well. Given, I hate the song personally, he raped that song. Sure, his face was red and he had to give it his all, but I think it sounded a lot better than Ownes (personally). You should hear Barlow sing Dracula and then listen to Ownes sing it (live). Ownes = I cringed. Barlow = I cried.
I think any real musician or anyone who actually learned anything about music knows that music at this level is not a competition. If anything, you can say you prefer Barlow's singing to Owens and viceversa. But this is not a contest, people, it's art. Would be good if you guys learned this and stopped with the stupid remarks such as "owens is superior when it comes to the high stuff". That is so absurd. Maybe if this was a music school dealing with a couple of amateurs. It isn't.
Okay, I love Barlow, but I simply have to give the nod to Owens for this song, he sounded WAY better than Barlow did when singing this song, as he did with Ten Thousand Strong, Barlow is a great singer, but I feel he should stay away from any songs that were done with Owens at the helm.
MATT BARLOW IS THE BEST VOCALIST OF ICED EARTH
chris bideris matt earth or iced barlow
@Nick Smith I await his return tbh. But maybe with recent events it's best he was not around for that period.

@@chadcorley2702 where did you hear barlow say that? i want to check it out
@@incudust953 Let me look it up really quick.
People focus waaay too much on who the better singer is. Iced Earth fucking rules no matter who's singing!!!
everything matt does is great
Damn, I think both versions of this song are equally great.
Checkout a channel called Acidust. He uploaded a fanmade duet version of this song.
odlicna pjesma , Matt mi zvuci odlicno u ovoj verziji

MATT BARLOW IS A GREAT SINGER
Matt Barlow owns this song
foreverrr matt
where can i find the cd version of this apparently this song was a special itunes track and i cant even find it their for download
From a technical standpoint, it could be argued that Owens is a better singer, but I've always loved Barlow's ability to emote well. He sings with such overwhelming feeling (not to say Owens doesn;t have feeling). His voice resonates with me emotionally, especially in The Dark Saga.

I like Ripper's version better if only because the chorus sounds like it has more emotion on Framing Armageddon.

Matt is the best!!! Who cares about Tim??
Alex Schäfer I do. I like Barlow too but Ripper is for me.
Fuck Ripper Owens.
The Ripper got this one right.
Probably the best song from Framing Armageddon. Much better with Barlow.
@FakePlasticHead obviously its a joke because Bill Cosby isnt a singer. And why would i be on her eif i didnt like them?
Piper Ripper all the way
as much as I love Barlow's voice (and I *really* do, he's one of the best singers ever), this song was better sung by Tim Ripper Owens
honestly i like more the owen's voice ://
