    This is a clear workflow guide and I will adopt it to my Topaz Labs work on my images. I did not not realize that there is no need to sharpen in DeNoise AI when moving on to Sharpen AI and the same for finallzing the print output for Gigapixel. Thanks so much!.

    This is the absolute best! I knew I was leaving stuff on the table when it came to editing my sports stuff because of all the edits I had seen on other photos from other photographers. This is a game changer! I agree with Dan Clark. Sharpened the eyes

    This is an awesome video. A must watch, I have Nenoise, must buy Sharpen & Gigapixel

    I’m surprised to see you change to a jpeg file out of Denoise following the processing of a Raw file. I’ve always saved as a DNG file, retaining the same format into Sharpen and Gigapixel. I’ve also done any cropping in Gigapixel (I’m sure I read that Gigapixel preferred to work with more pixels rather than less) and only then edited the image for colour, exposure etc before finally saving as a jpeg for ease of sharing. I thought I was following Topaz’s recommended workflow but, perhaps not? In any event, I’ve been delighted with the results - huge improvement in image quality out of Denoise following your Raw processing update.

      One would obviously assume that more pixels equals better results, but it seems like the current AI models are most effective up to around 35-ish megapixels. For example:
      With the 60 megapixel a7R4 I get the best results more than 90% of the time by REDUCING the image size before using any Topaz apps, and then scale it back up to the original size. Maybe it’s just too much information to handle at once, or perhaps the IA models themselves that aren’t optimized for such a large scale yet?

    Great video! I’m in the process of studying DSU before buying. After viewing your video, I’m buying the combo package this morning.
    Having used Photoshop for 20+ years, I understand the value of sharpening only portions of a photo, especially the eyes. So that was the most important question for me. Your demonstration of how to do that in SharpenAI sold me!
    Overall, this video and the comments are great learning tools. Many thanks.
    Dan

    Hi, great video.
    I do wonder why you start with raw and then change to jpeg when going to Sharpen AI ?
    Why not keep working in raw ?

    Thanks for the informative video. When using Gigipixel AI, will it also work if you want to upscale to a specific size rather then just 2x or 4x etc.?

    topaz still has issues rendering Sony A1 raw files. it actually make the image worst. makes it very pixilated

    Great Video, but my Denoise, v. 1.3.3 can't accept CR3 RAW images. Do you know why?

  • @Multimedia3
    @Multimedia3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great didactic value, thanks. But why choose 72 ppi when you want to use gigapixel to print a large print ?

    • @ianmearsphoto
      @ianmearsphoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because dpi has no meaning for digital files. You can change it to anything and the resolution of the file is unchanged, the number of pixels stays the same. DPI only comes into play when you actually send the output to a printer.

    I've just tried your suggestions and I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong since the CLEAR rendition is drastically better than the RAW. I wished there was a way to add a screenshot in this comment section to show what I'm seeing. If you message me I would like to send the visual I'm seeing to get your opinion.

      I often find that Clear AI appears to give a sharper image with more contrast but when you look closely you find the image is actually over-sharpened and, in some cases, there are odd textural artefacts introduced.

    It would be nice if DeNoise AI supported Fuji raw files. Is that in the works?

    Denoise is great but there's also atmospheric noise/haze that happens with long lenses.

    I really wanted to use sharpen ai but it takes to long too load and the whole work flow is too time consuming.
    I wish the plugin was a one click apply then I can export it directly from lightroom.

    They did not save as a tiff or dng in this tutorial because it would have resulted in a much larger file which takes a LONG time to render.

    Hmm with traditional upscaling you lose any information? Well, I don't think you lose much, maybe because of intersample interpolation, but the point is that gigapixel ai generates additional pixels, not that you lose some if you don't use it. It was never there to begin with. But very interesting software. I became a fan. 🙂

    I love topaz demonise because of its processing speed and image quality but… I find topaz sharpen extremely slow at processing an image - is there any reason why there is a difference using the same image??

    The DNG file processed by RAW mode doesn't support any camera profile on 3.4.x version.

    Clearly, you chose to convert the RAW picture to a JPEG because these plugins take time to render. Some take significant time even on a Mac Pro with 64GB of RAM. Not to take away from the results, which ARE fantastic, but it seems a bit disingenuous to do this without explaining the real reasoning.

    Please fix Sharpen AI. My paid copy has reverted to trail mode, thus it's unusable. I have emailed you several times. I am so disappointed and don't know where to turn anymore.

    So I watched until it got to the part about RAW files. My version doesn't do that, so I found there was an upgrade, which I subsequently bought and paid for. Now I find that it requires Mohave or later. Am I the only one to be pissed off at that the way Apple and its sycophant developer companies do this?
    Like a lot of other people, I am still using a lot of what Apple would refer to, euphemistically, as "legacy" software, so I can't currently upgrade beyond High Sierra. Does Apple actually care about its customers? Does Topaz? I am quite sure there will be a great many out there in my position.
    Sorry. I've really impressed with what the AI range does up until now, but if I don't get the refund I requested for the upgrade, I will make my feelings known in as effective a way as possible.

    As a long time Topaz user with the full suite . Really really annoyed that Topaz is not supporting Fuji Raw file . DXO could not handle Fuji but they have now fixed that. Come on Topaz …get on it and support Fuji
