It makes perfect sense to me, the other thing about Mihawk joining is that him and Buggy both have direct ties to Shanks . A lot of people want Mihawk to join forces w Shanks for this very reason but I feel like Mihawk is too proud to join his rival and he’s still upset about the arm thing. My first thought was that Weevil joined him because he really doesn’t have an actual impactful role and felt like he was introduced out of nowhere but it makes total sense if it’s just to beef up Buggy’s crew strength to keep the gag alive.
Oda's gigabrained if Weevil just fits in perfectly with Buggy and his crews antics and was secretly just a comic relief character the entire time (and he'd still be insanely powerful as well), tbh I think Weevil is the #1 warlord who'd teamup with Buggy before any of the other ones.

He being a coward and unconsciously developing obsetvation haki makes him avoid danger. If you combine that with his devil fruit, well, you can't damage him. Furthermore, if he awakens his Devil fruit, he would be able to split probably at a molecular level, and split his surroundings. Broken power IMO. If you add his Impel Down crew, to his original crew, Buggy's delivery, and now the former shichibukai also joining him, he has all the qualifications to be a yonko.

Buggy + Shanks were both apprentices on Roger's ship and are basically brothers. Luffy + Shanks. Shanks is one of the people Luffy looks up to the most and basically handed Luffy his devil fruit. It makes no sense that the WG did this when they nearly shit themselves at the thought of any two of the previous yonko even meeting with one another and even worse, forming an alliance.

Not exactly. The Yonkou isn’t appointment by the govt. it’s the pirates who are believed to be the four strongest and most influential. The govt didn’t not decide that these are the Yonkou, rather they have shown themselves to be at the top of the pirate world and the WG has to respect them as such.

i had a thought about buggy gaining more and more influence in the underworld since joker was defeated as, iirc, buggy wouldve naturally garnered more control from the black market. this could maybe pertain to information, weapons, and of course more manpower. however i do think that in a break neck situation like the one they were in that they would've needed some help to get away and then further buggy's status into becoming an emperor. i could also naturally see buggy's dumb luck aid him as maybe he was near weavel or mihawk as they were fighting the government and buggy would goad is crew along into believing that they were forming an alliance of some sort, somehow defeating the navy or at least forcing a retreat, thus promoting buggy into that emperor status.

It would kinda make sense for such a team to choose Buggy as their leader. No warlord would admit that other ones are stronger, so a weak, fearful boss that noone feels threatened by is the best option for such an alliance.

I could see it just because Mihawk has been shown to hunt down pirates in the past to "kill some time". Taking up mercenary work could be something he would do. He probably wouldn't make for an obedient crew member he would do his own shit and probably wouldn't even respect Buggy, but he'd be there for his own reasons
He wouldn't join Shanks. Shanks is his rival and he kinda lost some of the respect Mihawk had for him when he came back with only one arm, hence why they stopped having their legendary duels. Working under Shanks would neither fit the relationship they have nor the way Mihawk now thinks about both himself and Shanks.

It might’ve been a thing where the Warlords banded together to ward off the WG and after they succeeded, they had a fight to see who was the strongest, and Mihawk could not physically cut down buggy and so Buggy won.

That would be a bit dumb. Mihawk just can hit the Buggy with the nonshard side of his blade and knock him out. Most likely scenerio is, they were too lazy to take charge and just put Buggy as the target for the marines/figurehead.
There's also a small chance that some of his canon fodder grew in strength and were training with the giants, but were just fine happily drinking and being merry with Buggy instead of going out and making their crew money, unlike the dutiful giants who did what they could to support the mercenary group. I love the idea of Mihawk joining Buggy though, because it would paint such a wild picture considering both Mihawk's and Buggy's relationship to Shanks.
You underestimate his crew a lot here. First off his crew has pirates from floors 2-5 of impel down. So while he may not have any huge hitters he has a lot of decently powerful crew members. Even Whitebeard saw them as a problem. Hajrudin is not his strongest fighter, he was a hired mercenary he stated to be his highest earner. So he was never crew and never claimed to be the strongest.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I believe Perona has rescued Moria and they have both also joined Buggy. They're whacky enough to fit in with him and it would be in the same line of Mihawk and Weevil joining him as former warlords. Hancock is the only one I don't see fitting the scheme, unless she thinks he is Luffy's dear friend (he did help saving him). Croc seems more likely to be the one coming back as one BB's titans.
Frankly any previous antagonists pre WCI are valid candidates for Buggy's crew. For example the Doflamingo crew were led by "Joker", doesn't it follow for their remnants to join up with the clown king?

Buggy is most likely impossible to cut no matter what. A conquerors haki spiked club attack on Luffy still forms around Luffy's rubber body as an example

Thinking the same thing. We already know that buggy is now the king of the underworld and he has a strong crew. He have lots of territories and he gain huge influence in the New World. But there is still a thing that he lacks which is having reliable yonko commanders. That's why I think he recruited other ex-shichibukai (specifically Mihawk and Weevil who doesn't belong to any crew) to join his crew because it wouldn't hurt or damage their reputation if they decided work alongside buggy who the world thinks was equal to them.
Perhaps it will be something like, for the final war, Luffy has his fleet and territories and external allies who support him because of his influence on them throughout the story. And somehow Buggy will have EVERYONE ELSE save for the characters and organizations that are too big and can be their own forces like the Revolutionaries or something. So all the singular lesser characters like the other remnants of Boroque Works, maybe Bellamy, since he didn't want to be Luffy's follower, and others etc, will just rally under Buggy because they for one way or another don't want to be under or "support" luffy but still find themselves on his side during that final conflict. Going further, all the other current Yonko have a history with Shanks, so if hypothetically, Shanks dies, it could make for an interesting dynamic for Buggy and Luffy to have together and could be the catalyst that leads to a final battle against the Marines/blackbeard/whoever
My personal headcannon until proven otherwise by manga is that Buggy was running around from warlord to warlord, accidentally helping them, and maybe kinda possibly making an alliance with all of them. Not some. All. Of. Them. And possibly defeating Coby by accident, maybe even Garp. That, or accidentally intercepting captured Sabo. Somehow

Buggy's crew is NOT FODDER (except the original crew like Alvida) after his escape from Impel Down. He had a strong following of escaped prisoners. Good old Whitebeard himself acknowledges that they are pretty strong and even wanted to ally with Buggy (thus his strong crew). We need to remember that most of his crew comes from the lower level of Impel Down where the World Government houses their most dangerous criminals. I legit think that the Vice Admiral that came to Buggy's island got defeated by his crew without Buggy doing anything. This made the WG perceive him as powerful since if the crew is this powerful, then how powerful would their Captain Buggy be?
Exactly!! People keep gong on about his original crew. It's stated in the manga that many of the people in his new crew have larger bounty's than him. I think it gets missed with the "joke" character gimmick.
I think that is another possibility: The WG made Buggy a Yonko to defeat him and get the glory. Think: the WG is collecting defeats, Luffy and others escaped from their prison. His admiral excused for Dressrossa. Probably they tried to defeat the warlords but failed because they escaped too. Blackbeard showed in Marine Ford, stole a devil fruit, and get away. Luffy and others are getting up and becoming famous. So WG needs a victory to maintain its power. Buggy has everything to be seen as a threat: he was in Roger's crew, he is a friend of Shanks, he was a warlord, he was in Marine Ford and everyone saw, he has a big crew that can be seen as strong, even it isn't. So the WG call them a Yonko, defeat him and everyone will think "wow, the WG is very powerful, they defeat buggy, a yonko!"

Buggy did become one of the most influential underworld bosses with the defeat of Doflamingo, meaning Croc might have contacted him as well of the other warlords. Since Kaido is gone he became the underworld head might be to the point where if he is dethroned it will disrupt the slave and weapon trade meaning a power vaccuum forms, where these activities will ramp up and more pirate activity. Physical power makes this easier but really the issue is: does this pirate have influence and can it disrupt the world? If yes; then Emperor.
While of course the narrative is going to give Buggy at least a couple really strong reinforcements to justify his new position, I think people sleep on Buggy. He was Luffy’s first real enemy, and he beat up on both him and Zoro at the time. I think it’s fair to say he himself has gotten significantly stronger, even if he’s too cowardly to ever show it. But why wouldn’t he have? I think whenever the time comes for him to fight, he’s gonna surprise everyone.
i mean he did get stronger with his muggy balls which can do quite a bit of damage, but i think him actually being strong kind of defeats his purpose as a character. Buggy has been established as a joke for so long that him suddenly busting out super strong attacks would go against him being set up as someone whose only real power is his charisma.
If buggy awakens his fruit I think he stands a legitimate chance unless he encounters a Soru user. Most warriors are swordsmen and even if not, he's good at dodging and running. An awakened Buggy could terraform his surroundings to a limited degree, like a slightly slower version of MHA's Overhaul.

Buggy is also likely aware of the big picture in One Piece’s world and feared whatever was at the very very top of it all. Think of it this way, Buggy thinks that if he reveals what he is truly capable of, the World Government would do anything to eliminate him and his name off the face of the map.

I don't think buggy knows anything about the world either. shanks has a LOT of connections he uses to get information about the world, and we don't really know about how he get those. he might even be a world noble. with buggy, we have never even seen him get inside information from even a single person that wasn't shanks or one of his simps. besides, if he wants the world government not to attack him, why did he become a yonko? if he was actually strong, it would be really easy to just go away and not take credit for the cross guild. not to mention that every time we see his train of thought he's completely terrified of anyone stronger than early series luffy. please remember this is not what he says, it's his inner thoughts, so he's actually thinking this. if buggy is secretly strong, it's so secret that he himself doesn't even know

The govt didn’t not decide that these are the Yonkou, rather they have shown themselves to be at the top of the pirate world and the WG has to respect them as such.

I think that he probably took under his wing all or most of the previous antagonists of luffy and the strawhats, because they thought that him being one of the most recognized enemies of luffy could mean a chance to have a rematch. So buggy is more a tool than a captain: think about a crew with mihawk, enel, or even crocodile and doffy, this would be a strong ass crew. i had a thought about buggy gaining more and more influence in the underworld since joker was defeated as, iirc, buggy wouldve naturally garnered more control from the black market. this could maybe pertain to information, weapons, and of course more manpower.
however i do think that in a break neck situation like the one they were in that they would've needed some help to get away and then further buggy's status into becoming an emperor. i could also naturally see buggy's dumb luck aid him as maybe he was near weavel or mihawk as they were fighting the government and buggy would goad is crew along into believing that they were forming an alliance of some sort, somehow defeating the navy or at least forcing a retreat, thus promoting buggy into that emperor status.

I could see it just because Mihawk has been shown to hunt down pirates in the past to "kill some time". Taking up mercenary work could be something he would do. He probably wouldn't make for an obedient crew member he would do his own shit and probably wouldn't even respect Buggy, but he'd be there for his own reasons

He wouldn't join Shanks. Shanks is his rival and he kinda lost some of the respect Mihawk had for him when he came back with only one arm, hence why they stopped having their legendary duels. Working under Shanks would neither fit the relationship they have nor the way Mihawk now thinks about both himself and Shanks.

It might’ve been a thing where the Warlords banded together to ward off the WG and after they succeeded, they had a fight to see who was the strongest, and Mihawk could not physically cut down buggy and so Buggy won.

There's also a small chance that some of his canon fodder grew in strength and were training with the giants, but were just fine happily drinking and being merry with Buggy instead of going out and making their crew money, unlike the dutiful giants who did what they could to support the mercenary group.
I love the idea of Mihawk joining Buggy though, because it would paint such a wild picture considering both Mihawk's and Buggy's relationship to Shanks.
You underestimate his crew a lot here. First off his crew has pirates from floors 2-5 of impel down. So while he may not have any huge hitters he has a lot of decently powerful crew members. Even Whitebeard saw them as a problem.
Hajrudin is not his strongest fighter, he was a hired mercenary he stated to be his highest earner. So he was never crew and never claimed to be the strongest.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I believe Perona has rescued Moria and they have both also joined Buggy. They're whacky enough to fit in with him and it would be in the same line of Mihawk and Weevil joining him as former warlords. Hancock is the only one I don't see fitting the scheme, unless she thinks he is Luffy's dear friend (he did help saving him).
Croc seems more likely to be the one coming back as one BB's titans.
Frankly any previous antagonists pre WCI are valid candidates for Buggy's crew. For example the Doflamingo crew were led by "Joker", doesn't it follow for their remnants to join up with the clown king?

Buggy is most likely impossible to cut no matter what. A conquerors haki spiked club attack on Luffy still forms around Luffy's rubber body as an example

Thinking the same thing. We already know that buggy is now the king of the underworld and he has a strong crew. He have lots of territories and he gain huge influence in the New World. But there is still a thing that he lacks which is having reliable yonko commanders. That's why I think he recruited other ex-shichibukai (specifically Mihawk and Weevil who doesn't belong to any crew) to join his crew because it wouldn't hurt or damage their reputation if they decided work alongside buggy who the world thinks was equal to them.
Perhaps it will be something like, for the final war, Luffy has his fleet and territories and external allies who support him because of his influence on them throughout the story. And somehow Buggy will have EVERYONE ELSE save for the characters and organizations that are too big and can be their own forces like the Revolutionaries or something. So all the singular lesser characters like the other remnants of Boroque Works, maybe Bellamy, since he didn't want to be Luffy's follower, and others etc, will just rally under Buggy because they for one way or another don't want to be under or "support" luffy but still find themselves on his side during that final conflict. Going further, all the other current Yonko have a history with Shanks, so if hypothetically, Shanks dies, it could make for an interesting dynamic for Buggy and Luffy to have together and could be the catalyst that leads to a final battle against the Marines/blackbeard/whoever

Buggy's crew is NOT FODDER (except the original crew like Alvida) after his escape from Impel Down. He had a strong following of escaped prisoners. Good old Whitebeard himself acknowledges that they are pretty strong and even wanted to ally with Buggy (thus his strong crew). We need to remember that most of his crew comes from the lower level of Impel Down where the World Government houses their most dangerous criminals.
I legit think that the Vice Admiral that came to Buggy's island got defeated by his crew without Buggy doing anything. This made the WG perceive him as powerful since if the crew is this powerful, then how powerful would their Captain Buggy be?
Exactly!! People keep gong on about his original crew. It's stated in the manga that many of the people in his new crew have larger bounty's than him. I think it gets missed with the "joke" character gimmick.

I think that is another possibility: The WG made Buggy a Yonko to defeat him and get the glory. Think: the WG is collecting defeats, Luffy and others escaped from their prison. His admiral excused for Dressrossa. Probably they tried to defeat the warlords but failed because they escaped too. Blackbeard showed in Marine Ford, stole a devil fruit, and get away. Luffy and others are getting up and becoming famous. So WG needs a victory to maintain its power. Buggy has everything to be seen as a threat: he was in Roger's crew, he is a friend of Shanks, he was a warlord, he was in Marine Ford and everyone saw, he has a big crew that can be seen as strong, even it isn't. So the WG call them a Yonko, defeat him and everyone will think "wow, the WG is very powerful, they defeat buggy, a yonko!"

Buggy did become one of the most influential underworld bosses with the defeat of Doflamingo, meaning Croc might have contacted him as well of the other warlords. Since Kaido is gone he became the underworld head might be to the point where if he is dethroned it will disrupt the slave and weapon trade meaning a power vaccuum forms, where these activities will ramp up and more pirate activity.
Physical power makes this easier but really the issue is: does this pirate have influence and can it disrupt the world? If yes; then Emperor.
While of course the narrative is going to give Buggy at least a couple really strong reinforcements to justify his new position, I think people sleep on Buggy. He was Luffy’s first real enemy, and he beat up on both him and Zoro at the time. I think it’s fair to say he himself has gotten significantly stronger, even if he’s too cowardly to ever show it. But why wouldn’t he have? I think whenever the time comes for him to fight, he’s gonna surprise everyone.
i mean he did get stronger with his muggy balls which can do quite a bit of damage, but i think him actually being strong kind of defeats his purpose as a character. Buggy has been established as a joke for so long that him suddenly busting out super strong attacks would go against him being set up as someone whose only real power is his charisma.
i honestly bet that his abilities are the same as day 1, separating his body and his cannon ball attack. No haki or learning of his DF.
If buggy awakens his fruit I think he stands a legitimate chance unless he encounters a Soru user. Most warriors are swordsmen and even if not, he's good at dodging and running. An awakened Buggy could terraform his surroundings to a limited degree, like a slightly slower version of MHA's Overhaul.

It makes more sense for Buggy to be a strong pirate that acts like a weakling because, his brother, Shanks did the same thing to deescalate the tension. Buggy is also likely aware of the big picture in One Piece’s world and feared whatever was at the very very top of it all.
Think of it this way, Buggy thinks that if he reveals what he is truly capable of, the World Government would do anything to eliminate him and his name off the face of the map.
@@justice8718 i don't think it makes sense at all. shanks doesn't act like a weakling at all. he literally stopped the marineford war just by reputation, and he scared off aramaki with a display of haki. I don't think buggy knows anything about the world either. shanks has a LOT of connections he uses to get information about the world, and we don't really know about how he get those. he might even be a world noble. with buggy, we have never even seen him get inside information from even a single person that wasn't shanks or one of his simps.
besides, if he wants the world government not to attack him, why did he become a yonko? if he was actually strong, it would be really easy to just go away and not take credit for the cross guild. not to mention that every time we see his train of thought he's completely terrified of anyone stronger than early series luffy. please remember this is not what he says, it's his inner thoughts, so he's actually thinking this. if buggy is secretly strong, it's so secret that he himself doesn't even know
