I have a wooden strip kayak that has been glassed. It's been 5-7 years and I noticed I am taking on water. a few ounces per hour of water time. I am thinking it may be best to reglass the entire kayak? I would love your feedback.
It’s not something I have done so I am not an expert. I have some thoughts though. If you re glassed the whole kayak it would add quite a lot of weight. I would consider just applying resin and not the glass mat. Even so it would add a lot of weight as you can’t put it on too thin or it will flake off. I would consider reducing the area you do. Just the hull or even just the keel strip. If you can identify where it is leaking it would help you know where to do it. Hope this helps.
